Sum up: They are both elated! They remember who each other are and can't wait to run into each other's arms. The curse is broken and this is the land with no magic after all, so surely they're safe, right? They're hugging tightly and all of a sudden, Alice can feel the full weight of her father as his body becomes limp. She lowers him carefully to the floor.
Okay, so here's my "fixing" of that because that idea made me too miserable and I cannot accept that much heartbreak.

Papa Killian tries to make Alice's bad day a little bit better by introducing her to rain and what it would be like if she were to be on the Jolly Roger during a stormy night. Don't need to go anywhere when you have an imagination and a great parent by your side in a heartbreakingly emotionally and mentally tough situation. Quite possibly one of my favorite fics to seek out from memory.

Toddler Alice asks about anything and everything with a "Why?" It was one of those questions Killian was mildly frustrated but mainly took pride to hear and answer from his wild, bubbly, and pointy eared little girl. He did his best, until the deep and serious why came up, why can't she go with him out of the tower on any food provision trips or expeditions? He's extremely gentle, telling her the heartbreaking but truthful storybook sounding tale of her cause for imprisonment, one she had no hand in, but surely felt guilty of. The whys lessened but their bond grew deeper. An absolute treasure to read <3

Margot calls while traveling, Rogers tries until he's a worried mess, and Weaver manages to get through and has a tiny heart to heart. It isn't possible to love someone's mental health problems away, but Tilly knows they are loved and supported, that being enough.

The tower was their oyster, Killian owning up to the role of fatherhood and Alice being the little tot growing up alongside him. They played chess and cared for one another until the Witch had enough of their cute and fun father-daughter bond, poisoning Killian with a single dart, leaving Alice stuck waiting for him. Great short fic that was bittersweet in nature <3
