Brief recap:
- Tommy is an avian with his hybrid features removed from his old orphanage
- he joined the army but two years later tried running away
- got stuck in a snare/bear trap and was found by Phil
- Phil’s basically went ‘I can’t let a child fight in the war’ and then just kept Tommy
- lots of highs and lows and progress and regression and then no main character death with a perfect happy and hopeful ending
