Richie stares blankly at him.
“What,” he asks flatly, “the fuck.”
“Or a god, at least, I don’t know,” Eddie continues, “Either way, I think it was the one who brought me back to life, so. You know. The chances are very good.”

“Just gimme a minute,” Bruce shot back. He had bent over now, rummaging through the bag he’d brought. This time his ass wasn’t positioned towards Steve though, so he opted instead to try and decipher whatever was going on in Bruce’s head by studying the look on his face.
Maybe Steve had pushed it a little too far. Maybe Bruce wasn’t comfortable with as much of that now.
Bruce had been the one that had ended things between them after all, whatever they were. Steve hadn’t argued with him about it. Getting kicked from the band by the record label had hurt enough and for Bruce’s sake, he hadn’t wanted to make things worse than they already were.
Steve wondered if Bruce had found someone else, someone he was serious about. He wondered if it was one of the guys in the band, filling the role that had once been his.

Immediately after that, revelations two and three slam into him like an eighteen-wheeler.

#3: Steve Harrington is really hot.

Usually, it takes a fucking act of god, or a performance, to get him up to normal-human-chatting status. Now they're in the dark with hardly a dime of space between them, and Bruce is talking about birthday presents.
This is a little weird, Steve thinks. Even for Bruce, this is a little weird.
"So?"
"Well, that's not right, is it?"

Brown eyes filled with both shame and curiosity peer over the magazine and towards the bed where Bruce is currently hunched over his notebook (again), scribbling away as though his very life depends on it. He writes a line then scratches out something higher up the page. He stares at his words, then circles something else.
“I’m takin’ a shower,” Stevie declares, haphazardly tossing the magazine onto the table in the corner of the room. Though his muscles feel stiff from the awkward position he’s been lounging in for the past hour, he’s not about to stretch and draw too much attention to himself. The last thing he needs is for Bruce to notice he’s hard.
… But that would require his friend to even look at him right now, and Bruce is much too focused on whatever song he is or was writing, and it doesn’t seem like he’ll be joining the rest of the world anytime soon. Most of the time, Bruce’s focus can drive Stevie mad.
Tonight, he’s grateful for it.
