Summary

On the edge of Jupiter, however, Grace ends up in a faulty escape pod and crash-lands on Pandora. Stranded on an alien world, Grace must survive until his fellow Eridians can come pick him up from the moon.

“And you said no, right?”
Jake did at first, he shot them down before they could even begin to list the benefits. He thought that would be the end of it, then they offered his sister a spot in the Avatar Program, all they would need was a bit of DNA before boarding.
“Jake,” she says slowly, “tell me you said no,” when he doesn’t answer, she laughs again, disbelief sweeping across her face, “oh my God.”
“It’ll be a fresh start,” he eventually says, in a calm voice in an attempt to placate her, “a new beginning for both of us.”
“Jake! I am not going to work for the Goddamn RDA! Are you kidding me right now!” she says, sounding like she had just been punched in the gut, running her fingers through her thick black hair.
“Leia—“
“No,” she says, crossing her arms.
“I already signed the papers.”
“I’m not going!” she argues.
“You don’t have a choice,” he says, gentle but firm, “I’m your guardian, you are under my care and what I say goes.”

Jayce's eyes narrowed as the medic's cheerful tone clashed with her ominous words. "Special arrangements for your journey, Jayce," she said, her voice dripping with sugar. "We want to ensure your comfort during the trip." He sat down, his heart racing, as she continued, "We usually put you into cryosleep for long travels, but... you have unique history."
"Unique history?" Jayce echoed, his mind racing with questions. The medic's tone was too light, too detached, and he searched her face for answers.
"I suspect that process could be rather jarring for you. So, we’ll be administering general anesthesia in advance to avoid complications." She smiles, her words barely registering before a needle pricked his arm.
The room went dark, and Jayce's thoughts were cut short. He tried to speak, to express his doubts, but his voice was silenced by the searing pain and the creeping numbness.
“General anesthesia" my ass.
