A year post-snap, things are — almost fine. Tony's alive, rebuilt, and apparently determined to make up for almost five years of missed time in one go.May is getting better at not looking at Peter like he is a ghost.
Sure his spider senses is still acting up for no apparent reason but its fine. He's probably overthinking it.
Then he starts noticing bruises on Morgan. Small ones, at first. Easy to explain away. Kids fall. Tony would know if something was wrong — Tony notices everything. If something was wrong he would fix it.
But he didn't.
By the time Peter's lying on the roof of a elementary school in a stealth suit with a camera in a six-year-old's hairband, he's well aware he's gone off the deep end. He's also pretty sure he's right.
He's not sure which part of that is worse.Or Beck makes everyone's lives difficult especially Peter's.
Things get worse from there. Like so so much worse. And Tony is out for blood.-

It’s become a nightly routine of theirs that’s shaped itself over the years spent in Nod-Krai. Every time Lohen returns to Favonius Keep from a fight, Varka is waiting for him in his tent, with a first-aid kit ready to be used.
What comes next plays out exactly as it always does. Varka removes his gauntlet, then pulls on the glove on his other hand, leaving his hands bare. Lohen observes Varka, how deliberate he is in each and every movement, his eyes trailing along the lines and curves of Varka’s hands as he washes them, drying them with a clean cloth, before opening the first-aid kit.
Lohen has long stopped commenting on how unnecessary Varka’s attention is, in these moments. He’s made his promise: to always come back in one piece to him. However, it’s instinctual for Lohen to open his mouth, a request for Varka to speed it up, but no words come out — it feels wrong to break this encompassing calm surrounding them.

The hand on his back rubbed slow circles over his shirt. It was a mockery of a soothing gesture. "Now, now, boy. We're adventurers, same as you. Don't you know it's first come first serve when you enter ruins and find a treasure?"

“I shouldn’t be surprised by this anymore, should I?” He punctuates his words by grinding the heel of his palm against Pete’s hardness, relishing in the just-there groan Pete lets out. “You like it when I’m like this, it gets you all hot and bothered under the collar.”
“You like when I’m like this, unable to fight back,” Pete fires back, but the bite is undermined by the way his hips twitch under Vegas.
Vegas hums noncommittedly, leaning down to drag his tongue across the marks on Pete’s shoulder, letting the sharp tang of blood ground him. “I admit, it’s more fun keeping you under my thumb so I always know where you are.”

This pushes all of the right buttons with my favorite VegasPete dynamics. Super tasty, super brutal, and so good seeing this through Vegas' very troubled, violent and hungry POV. The way the author describes this dance of raw desire, lust, anger, violence and all shades in-between is absolutely delightful. Their dynamic is painted perfectly and the specific brand of brutality of this love of theirs is dripping through every paragraph.
This was a particular angle of their safehouse days that exists in the perfect space between them finally reaching for each other, for the things they can only have through each other, and the moment of Pete's tethers ultimately snapping. It's mouthwatering to be able to enjoy a little more of the raw, bloody, animal desire they shared in this particular setup.
