Summary
Shinsō Hitoshi, forty-one years old, is not exactly an upstanding member of society. Still, he does his job and does it damn well. He lives in a decent apartment with his three cats, and keeps more or less to himself. Then he runs into Aizawa Shōta and all the energy of his awkward high-school crush comes rushing back, never mind the fact that it’s been twenty-three years since graduation. But time has brought change; Aizawa now is not the same as he was then. Shinsō finds himself drawn to the tired lines of Aizawa’s body each time they meet, and the quiet arguments they keep having over dinner. He kind of wants to take him home. It’s kind of a problem.

Summary
Sitting in the police station on a rainy Friday afternoon in late May, Shinsō Hitoshi has to wonder if the universe is finally conspiring to make all his neat little boundaries collapse in on one another. He and Aizawa get called out together for hero work and stir up some old memories—good, and bad. The question of control comes up again, and in the space between the public baths and grocery shopping, between the laundromat and dinner with an inquisitive and suspicious Yamada, Shinsō has to figure out how to answer it.
