Description:

Tolkien built his world on a foundation of Germanic and Feudal Law. This series of vignettes was created to explore what happens if we take it seriously, and some of the spillover implications of doing so. Along the way it also became something of a character study, a tale told in vignettes across time.

Ainu perceive time at 144:1; anyone too close to one uncloaked starts perceiving time at that rate. Under the Trees, elves perceived time at 144:1 as well.

12-year = 12SY and is the elven equivalent of a decade, as elves count by twelves. A typical elven perceptual year is one 12-year

Elven pregnancies take 3SY. Elves reach adulthood/majority at 72SY. (12VY under the Trees.) Greater majority occurs at 1 Yen.

One adult elven growth year is 144SY. Children age at a rate of 1:4 until 72.

Maglor’s wife is Rhovaloth, Caranthir’s is Mardis, and Fingon’s is Tarmarië.

Ekthelion and Glorfindel are the sons of Lalwen. Egalmoth, Finrun, and Finvain are the children of Findis.

Galadriel sailed to Beleriand with Celeborn. Celeborn is the son of Elmo, but was raised in the House of Olwë
