A short collection of one-shots I wrote for the first 3 days of Whumptober 2023, focusing on Alice, Ted and Cindy respectively.
Day One- "How many fingers am I holding up?" (Alice wakes up in the lab with a throbbing headache and a distinct gap in her memory.)
Day Two- "They don't care about you." (Ted knows nobody cares for him. He’d hoped, sure, but that’s all washed away when his brother leaves him for dead.)
Day Three- Solitary Confinement (Cindy’s always thrived on attention. She doesn’t quite know how to act when she's left somewhere all alone.)

Slowly, slowly, painstakingly slowly, Regis moves closer. David makes to lean away from the approach, so Regis catches hold of the chain bound to the man’s neck before he can recoil further. “You don’t seem to understand,” he says softly, fingers winding around the cold, heavy metal. “This isn’t something you’re getting out of. You’re going to die here, ex-principal David. Your life’s work will be used to make an invulnerable army, and your ridiculous sanctimony has sabotaged any of your glory.”
“Glory?” David’s jaw slackens in genuine shock. “What part of any of that warrants glory, Regis? You’re turning children into monsters!”
