Summary
Here’s the beef of it: Louie Duck holds onto things.
It’s just nature. Fish gotta swim. Anteaters gotta eat ants. Louie’s hidden away every baby tooth he’s lost since he was five so he can get a huge cash payout when the last three finally evacuate. Louie pried up a floorboard on the houseboat when he was seven to stick his sewing supplies in and almost sunk their entire livelihood. It’s just easier to hold onto things- especially when they can be used again, which means NOT buying more of said things, which means more money in Louie’s pocket. Good for dividends. Good for when things go bad. Just good.

Summary
“What… is all this?” Huey asked, jaw agape, and honestly if Louie wasn’t in the middle of something he’d probably be a bit pissed at being followed.
Louie looked up from his cauldron, wooden spoon in hand, and hummed a little. “I mean, I did tell you I was busy.”
“I thought you were planning a scheme! Not- not this.” Huey grabbed the edge of the bubbling brew and looked into it, turning a truly concerning shade of gray. “What are you making? A death curse? Poison? Future sight spell?”

Summary
“A lucky plastic clover isn’t a focuser, and I’m not a witch,” he reminded her for the umpteenth time. “I just fill the defensive holes Scrooge is too bigoted to work on. Also, I need one of your feathers.”
“What?” Lena asked, but it was too late. Louie stood on his tip-toe and plucked one pink-dipped feather with ease. She yelped and raised a fist. “What was that for?”
