Description:

Inspired by Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere and Will Wight's multiverse, this project is, in essence, a shared universe of fantasy and/or science-fiction novels.

Each story is set to be a full-length novel on its own planet in the same solar system, thousands of years after the entire system was ravaged by an interplanetary war. Each world will have its own unique hard magic system, as well as its own unique aesthetic. Eventually, minor references littered throughout each novel will coalesce into a large macro-narrative spanning many worlds, and the true history of the setting will be revealed.

Notes:

This entire project is something I've been brainstorming for quite a while. For a long time, I had a dozen or so standalone fantasy novels I didn't know what to do with; the novels all had very distinct aesthetics, but similar themes, and most of them featured hard magic systems that were more limited and gimmicky than what I was used to writing. I slowly came to view them as connected to one-another, and as I was wrapping up Project Zero, I concocted a solar system where all of these stories could be unfolding more-or-less simultaneously.

I mentioned that Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere was an inspiration, but that applies more to the macro-level concept of having many different fantasy series coexisting in the same space. The individual planets were inspired mainly by a mixture of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Arcane, The Last of Us, Castlevania, Fullmetal Alchemist, and From Software's Souls games.

Progress on the series as a whole has been slow for a few reasons. First, I have been going to school, getting my degree and getting married. Second, I had a few other fanfiction projects I needed to finish and get out of my head before I could do any work on these (namely Rebuild of The Last of Us Part II, DMC V: Return of Sparda and The Shape of Love). Third, I have spent literal years trying to sort out how all of the magic systems will work for each planet, and I think I finally got it.

In many ways, this project is far less bombastic (and, one might argue, slower-paced) than some of my other stories. However, each of these novels are also passion projects I conceived of as a child, and so this entire setting feels both more ambitious yet deeply personal to me. I hope you enjoy.
