Description:

The Shanshu Prophecy was a little ambiguous, to say the least. What if Spike became human after Not Fade Away? This series is my exploration of what life might be like for ex-vampire Spike.

Notes:

The Fragments-verse turned into a series more or less by accident. I wrote the stories out of chronological order, jumping ahead and then going back and filling in details at whim. Each story pretty much stands on its own, but there's a thread of unresolved mystery that winds its way through all of them: what went wrong with the Shanshu prophecy?

That mystery does have a resolution, at the end of the last story, but I want to warn you up front: the end of the last story is a bit weird. I wrote about 45,000 words of that story, and then stalled; the story rested, unfinished, for five years. Then I finally admitted to myself that I was never going to properly finish the story, and decided to post a summary of how it would have ended, to at least provide closure as to the unresolved plot threads. The summary took on a life of its own and became a story-like thing, although not properly a story ... so the story has an ending, of a sort, and therefore the series has an ending.
