Steve nodded slowly. "That's how long Max's been out of the hospital."
"Hospital?" Eddie whipped around to face him. "Why was Red in the hospital? Was it the earthquake?"

"It's okay, I figured." Eddie squeezed his hand tightly around Steve's arm, just below the bite, cutting off blood flow. "Good job, you did great. I'm so proud of you."
Steve broke out into a grin, letting his head fall back. Eddie reached behind him, grabbing the handkerchief hanging out of his pocket. It was clean- Steve had really set out an outfit he'd have worn- and Eddie folded it in half on his leg. He carefully wrapped it around Steve's wound, tight enough to not let the blood leak out but loose enough that it didn't hurt him. He leaned over and played with his hair.
