    Hahahahaha I love that you were coming up with schemes of your own as you read it. I did actually briefly consider doing it that way (with a darker Baelor who takes advantage of the blow to his head to force a mating between him and Maekar, but I probably would’ve written that from Baelor’s POV, not Maekar’s).

    Baelor knew immediately after Maekar freaked out when he regained his memories that if he didn’t do a big-ass gesture, he was done for, because I do think a literal signed and sealed marriage proposal was the only thing that Maekar would have trusted as actual proof that Baelor wanted him and didn’t regret what they’d been doing.

    And yes, Maekar thinks it’s brain damage but meanwhile Baelor woke up, took one look at his gorgeous little brother that he’s loved since he was a kid (and who’s now widowed) and said ‘well obviously I’ve mated him. What am I, an idiot?’ I am also obsessed with ensuring that Baelor and Maekar share a scent note (smoke) so Baelor’s fuzzy brain smelt that and again, took it as further evidence of his claim.
