Summary
Barely a month has passed since Qifrey, his apprentices, and Olruggio had returned to their remote atelier from the Great Hall. A series of stormy days have fallen upon the atelier as an approaching coastal storm draws closer inland. With the Silver Eve looming, an overworked and stressed out Olruggio finds himself restless on one such dreary night. Taking a break from drafting his contraption for the festival, while trying to help with late night chores, Olruggio is bombarded by four little witches after a loud thunder clash outside. Trying to prevent them from waking their equally overworked mentor, who was finally catching some much needed rest in the den, the grumpy, old witch decides to allow the girls to camp out on the bottom floor of his workshop. Demanding a bedtime story from their elder witch, an impatient Olruggio concocts a ghost story surrounding the atelier's past. Unbeknownst to both Olruggio and Qifrey's gremlins, an unseen, sinister presence lurks within the heart of their home.

“You know,” Olruggio says, roughly. He doesn’t move to take Qifrey’s hand again. “You know. You can’t not know, Qifrey.”
Qifrey just looks at him. “I do.”
The rain continues falling.
(And so Olruggio forgets. And he inevitably figures it out again, because of course he does; and he inevitably chooses to forget again, and again, and again, because his heart is always the same. The story is always the same. Like a tale from under a silverwood tree, like a myth from the days of old, not so much tied by the constraints of the narrative so much as being narrative itself. Antigone must bury her brother. Iphigenia must be put to death. At a thousand turns, in a thousand ways, Orpheus must turn, and he must look, again, and again.
And Olruggio forgets.)
