Summary
When Soobin was a child, he’d spend most of his days imagining the ways in which, at any moment, his quest as the protagonist of a fantasy novel would begin. At an antique store with his mom, he’d see an ornate spyglass and imagine looking through it to find another world on the other side. Long drives in the car, he’d imagine a shimmery fox running alongside them, looking at him like it had a message. Occasionally, he’d check the walls in his closet to see if they were still as unyielding as the last time he checked.
Of course, he grew out of this, as most children do. But he’d be lying if he said the instinct wasn’t still ingrained in him to, at times, search for magic in what turned out to be a very ordinary world. Which is why, when he comes home to find a cat sitting right in front of his door, he thinks this is it.
Unfortunately, there’s no scroll tied to the cat’s paw. There’s also no collar around its neck.
In other words, the cat may not be magical but that doesn't mean the world is ordinary.
