“Kiss, kiss, kiss!” The chant went up all around the fire.
Catra and Adora glanced across at everyone, their mutual touch now uncertain. They blushed, struggling to maintain eye contact.
Glimmer gave an open-mouthed smile. “Oh my god, you guys are so cute together."
“Well?” Adora ventured, growing a little bolder.
“Well what?” But Catra knew exactly what.
Adora’s finger absently traced the gentle slope of Catra’s jaw. “It’s just that you did kind-of-definitely save my life. So, thank you. For that.”
Now Catra couldn’t look at anything except Adora. They held each other at the shoulder, arms bent, and the world was melting into the taste of wood smoke and fire light. Were they really going to kiss right now? In front of everyone? Catra’s fingers climbed one by one onto Adora’s cheek, soaking in her warmth. Adora’s lips stuck softly to each other as they began to part, leaving a thin ridge of moisture where they separated. Catra leaned in gradually, cautiously, was she scared? Her face was flushed, breath hot. Adora’s scent flooded her mind. The only sounds were the crackle of the fire and Catra’s fur rusting over her lover’s jacket. Adora started to close her eyes...

It was a well known fact that Catra was very … catlike.
Even before she had joined up with the coveted “Best Friends Squad” and became subject to Bow’s constant cooing and fawning, it was rather obvious. She purred, she hissed, and as much as she tried to suppress it, she sometimes let out soft little trills when snapped awake or to attention.
It wasn’t something that most people (exception: Bow) acknowledged, since it was just … her. Now that Etheria was healing and more information on Magikats was becoming available with each day, her little habits had faded into the background. Sometimes they came out more than usual, typically in the face of excess excitement or stress, but nobody really noticed.
These are the times when people noticed.
