Grian and Scar visit Skizz and Impulse’s house for the first time, and we learn the origin of that special travel mug.

Summary
Impulse shakes his head, thoroughly confused. “Grian, why would you lie to Skizz?”
Grian doesn’t acknowledge Impulse’s words. “Can you get the camera as well? You know that you’re the best at it.”
Impulse grits his teeth. Grian is ignoring him, and he has no idea why. He doesn’t want to use his status as team leader to force Grian to answer him—it would be wrong, and he’s not willing to trigger Grian’s memories from his and Scar’s old organization—but this is important. Why would Grian tell Skizz that he’d wake him up when they arrived?
His hands flex into fists, then stretch out again at his sides. He picks up the EMF from where it hangs on the wall in an effort to distract himself from his frustration, but he’s too agitated to be able to relax. And Grian still hasn’t answered him.
Or, Skizz is sick, Impulse is acting strange, and Scar and Grian don’t know what to do without their anchors.

Summary
Xisuma stares at the two young men standing across from him.
One of them is short, with messy brown hair and bloodshot, swollen eyes that are only partially hidden behind round glasses. He tugs on his bright red tie and adjusts the collar of his suit so it covers his neck better.
The other is taller, but being on his feet is clearly causing him discomfort. He’s half-leaning against his friend, who is supporting him as subtly as possible. He wears a suit with a dark blue tie, and his collar is also high enough to conceal his throat. The space beneath his eyes is painted with dark circles.
Or, Xisuma interviews Scar and Grian for positions as paranormal investigators at Hermitcraft. In just one interaction, they’ve managed to worry him. He introduces them to the investigators he trusts most, in an attempt to help them.

Summary
“It is far too late for this,” Grian grouses, yawning against his will. The only one paying any real attention to him is Scar, who is nodding along in sympathy as he fiddles with one of his sound sensors. “How are we supposed to hunt any ghost if we can’t even stay awake?”
“Very good question,” Scar agrees sagely, and Grian huffs. He seems more genuinely frustrated than usual, but it’s Grian. He’s just like that sometimes.
“Usually I’d be in bed at this time, you know. All snuggled up and cozy.” Grian adjusts the high collar of his sweater and sniffs. “You’re ruining my sleep schedule by dragging me along.
“Aww, did G miss his bedtime?” Skizz teases, turning his flashlight on and off testingly. Grian turns a deathly blank glare on him, and Skizz laughs it off, completely unbothered. “Aw, you know I’m joking, bud. It’s late, I know, but we gotta do this job, G.”
Or, one of the ghost hunting trips that GIGS goes on is different from the others, and Grian and Scar can't help but be afraid. Impulse and Skizz are there, though, just like they always are.

Grian had crash-landed in an abandoned world where nobody resides, locked away from players, and forced to live a life of solidarity for his own safety away from the Watchers. But then something peculiar happens…
The avian finds a group, a bundle of people that calls themselves the ‘Hermits’, all from different walks of life, some even hybrids, who had joined the world and claimed it as their own! So now he’s tasked to figure out why everybody is so strange while ensuring they don’t figure out he doesn’t belong. Shouldn’t be so hard…

Or, the Hermits are jumping from world to world and happen to join the world Grian is living on. Grian tries to get them off it to live a quiet life away from the Watchers but unfortunately for him, they are persistent.

Summary
Xelqua had been born an avian, bearing six wings instead of the common two or four. The extra appendages corresponded to his heightened magic affinity, he'd come to theorize.
The two new pairs of wings certainly did.
He was able to do things now, things not any Avian should have been able to do. He could corrupt electrical systems with a thought, could phase through objects like a Vex. His wounds seemed to heal over in a matter of hours. It made escaping police custody a rather simple task.
Once at a safe distance, Xelqua tucked his wings away with his regular magic. The four extras went away with them; as did his peculiar new powers.
He staggered the streets until he found where the earth tipped downwards, falling to the musky streets of the Perimeter. Dazed, alone, free.
The only evidence now left of the ceremony were his missing eyes.

Scar launched himself up, three powerful leaps carrying him above the burning heat and smoke of the city. The whir of his mechanical leg braces kicked in as he soared, leaving twin streaks of teal and orange light behind. The final leap took him over the roof of the building he’d been aiming for and a faint click-click followed as the system recalibrated to brace for the landing. His boots hit the rooftop with a solid clunk as the high-tech braces absorbed the impact and kept him steady.
From this height, he could see the stark contrast between the peaceful city beyond and the wrecked ward beneath his feet. Most of New Hermitville had escaped the chaos, but here, this small district was a war zone.
