She dropped her gaze and shuffled her feet, but the worst was over and she could see this through. Taking her courage in both hands, she finished. “A-and I wanted to know if you maybe wanted to g-go out with me some time. When you’re free. Just us. Like a date?”
She felt the desire to prattle all but tear at her throat, and clamped her mouth and then her eyes shut tight, willing the babble back, waiting for the blow.
A love confession gets rejected, leading to a reveal - and for a while there it feels like everything starts unraveling.

Marinette stares at her ceiling, not meeting Alya’s shocked and worried eyes that scan her face. Instead, she looks up at the poster plastered above her, the face of her current predicament smiling down at her, and her stomach twists into unpleasant knots, a stark contrast to the usual butterflies erupting when she sees it.
“What?”
“Adrien. I don’t want to love Adrien anymore, Als.”
