Day 5: beach | sunblock
They find a spot where the sand is flat, far enough from the crowd but close enough to the water to feel the mist when the waves crash harder. The bag drops to the ground, and Cheng Xiaoshi pulls out a new bottle of sunblock with a grin.
"Sit," he says.
Lu Guang raises an eyebrow. "You're giving orders now?"
"Yes, Boss," Cheng Xiaoshi shoots back with mock seriousness, waving the bottle like a flag. "Sit or fry."
Lu Guang sighs but sits down on the towel. Cheng Xiaoshi kneels behind him, squirting a cold line of sunblock on his palm before smearing it across Lu Guang's shoulders. His touch is casual at first, then slower, his fingers spreading the lotion with unnecessary care.
"You're dragging it out," Lu Guang says quietly, not looking back.
"I'm thorough." Cheng Xiaoshi's tone is innocent, but his hands linger too long on the slope of Lu Guang's neck, thumbs pressing lightly. "You burn easy. And I like this view."

Day 4 — bath | festival | swimsuit
"You're hiding your perfect body from the world," Cheng Xiaoshi announces, earning a passing glance from a family nearby. "It's a crime. A tragic, tragic crime."
Lu Guang doesn't react, except for the corner of his lips twitching. "Let go."
"Not until you—" Cheng Xiaoshi pauses, looking at him with exaggerated puppy eyes. "Come on, just take it off. Please. I promise I won't look. No, actually I will look. I'll look respectfully. No, disrespectfully. Wait, no, that sounds wrong. Just—"
Lu Guang sighs, but there's a softness in it. "You're loud."
"And you're hot," Cheng Xiaoshi shoots back immediately, hands still clutching fabric. "In both ways. I'm dying here, Guang Guang, don't make me beg."
The name slips out, low and pleading. Lu Guang stares at him for a beat too long, the sun catching the outline of his lashes. Then, slowly, he pulls the shirt over his head. The air hits his skin, warm and alive, and Cheng Xiaoshi freezes mid-breath.

Day 3 — sunbathing | popsicle
Cheng Xiaoshi beams like he just scored a goal.
Then—eyes narrowing, he scoots even closer. His legs bump Lu Guang's now. His shoulder grazes Lu Guang's bicep. The space between their loungers disappears.
"So," Cheng Xiaoshi says slowly, "if I ask you to lick the popsicle instead of biting it, will you do it?"
Lu Guang raises an eyebrow.
Cheng Xiaoshi leans forward, elbow on the backrest, breath sticky with sugar and heat. "For science."
"You’re not subtle."
"I’m literally begging."
Lu Guang doesn't move right away. The silence stretches, lazy and hot. Then—without a word—he lifts the last sliver of his own half-eaten popsicle and licks it once. Just one slow drag of his tongue up the side, slow and unbothered. He keeps eye contact the whole time.
Cheng Xiaoshi forgets to breathe.

Day 2 — iced drinks
The ice clinks in the glass between them.
Cheng Xiaoshi hums against his mouth, playful, greedy. Then he pulls back a little, breathless but smiling like a boy with something to hide.
"Yours tastes better."
Lu Guang narrows his eyes. "You already had the same drink."
"No. Yours has your mouth on it." Cheng Xiaoshi licks the corner of his lips. "Might be psychological, might be gay. Probably both."
"Both," Lu Guang confirms.
Cheng Xiaoshi lets out a soft, giddy laugh and shifts, one knee slipping between Lu Guang’s legs as he pushes him gently back more against the couch. It’s unhurried, but heavy—Cheng Xiaoshi’s weight, his thigh pressing in, the heat between them folding over itself.
"Don’t spill that," Cheng Xiaoshi mutters, nudging the glass in Lu Guang’s hand with his forehead before taking it and setting it down beside them.
"You’re sweaty."
"You’re not exactly air-conditioned either."

Summary
Lu Guang finally has a secure and kind food source, and Cheng Xiaoshi will never regret dealing with demons.
“I don’t care whether or not you’re sweet,” Cheng Xiaoshi deadpans, turning off the tap. “It’s not a good time, Lu Guang. You know that.”
Wrong thing to say. Lu Guang’s tails swish behind him as he leans in, invasive but too beautiful for Cheng Xiaoshi’s own good. An impish look, the creature licks his lips and lets out a voice not unlike a purr.
“I’m always a good time.”
