Summary
He thinks of Tsumiki.
Of Gojo.
Of the way some people leave and some people stay and both are called different kinds of failure.
"You're lucky," Megumi says.
Yuuji tilts his head. "For what?"
"You get to choose."
Yuuji's smile fades, just a little. "Don't you?"
Megumi doesn't answer right away.
Or: Megumi dies his first death.

Summary
Ace had never wanted to be a marine. He thought they were boring and corrupt and way too uptight. They valued order and submission over freedom and were relentless in their attempts at cleansing those they deemed 'undesirable' from the world. And since Ace was one of those they considered as such, he hated them even more.
And then life somehow got worse and he was told—with no chance to protest—that he was going to join the Marines once he came of age and he would spend his life there. No amount of protesting or arguing could sway his grandfather and while Ace could have probably just told him to go to hell and done what he wanted anyway, he couldn't because the man at the head of it all knew all about Ace's inherited crimes and had told them that should Ace refuse, he would tell the entire world who Ace was and exactly where they could find him.
Or, Ace is a marine and he hates it but he doesn't have a choice. Or does he?

Summary
Immortality is mockery. Satoru tells Megumi one evening as they lay on the tatami mat floors of the hall leading to the bathroom. He explains that he can’t die anymore.
“Have you tried?” Megumi asks dully, as if he had not tried just a few days ago and that is why Satoru is here laying on the floor with him. Supervision at all times. All times. That, or a hospital somewhere Megumi would die.
Satoru debates how honest he should be with a nineteen year old who has tried to kill himself an astounding amount of times, in an astounding amount of ways, all in the span of three years. But Megumi is talking to him, kind of. He’s glancing at Satoru. It's more than Satoru has gotten in a while.“Yeah,” Satoru says. “I’ve tried.”
“How?”
“Megumi, I don’t think that’s important.”
“How?”
Satoru sighs, squeezes his eyes shut. “Any way you can think of.”
“Does Shoko know?”
A dry laugh. “Shoko supervised.”

Summary
So Satoru has seen Megumi plenty, but he also hasn’t, so he accepts to meet him one last time. Shoko tells him to wait to be stronger, or to accept a wheelchair, but he doesn’t feel like listening to her. He owes to Megumi to use his little forces to go and salute him one last time standing up and proud, just like he did with Sukuna.
At least, he can pretend that his knees threaten to buckle not at the sight of Megumi’s still body, but because of his injuries.
or, Gojo wins against Sukuna and lives. Megumi does not.
