Chapter 2: The Doctor

Chapter Text

It was only a few minutes after Galina left that she was unlocking the door once again and entering the room.

She seemed to glance around the room for a minute searching for the omega she had left sitting at the table just moments ago before locking in on his curled form, and demonstrating her very professional smile once again.

“Shane. Will you come with me please?” Galina softly called from the door.

Shane stood from his position against the wall, and as he walked toward the doorway he could tell that there was another figure with her. It was someone in a uniform similar to the ones that the masked men were wearing except it lacked a mask and the hard outer shelling. The man wearing the uniform was tall and well built, he had tan skin, dark hair, and dark eyes. The man was clearly another alpha. Shane was cautious of the man, opting to stand as close to Galina as possible and keep his distance from the stranger. Though he had only met Galina mere minutes ago she was the closest thing he had to a familiar face nearby.

Galina and the other man walked him down sterile halls, and while the man kept a safe distance from Shane it was incredibly clear that his eyes were tracking each and every movement made by the boy. They arrived at another door that didn’t look too dissimilar to the one he was previously. Though upon opening the door, the contents of the room were entirely different. There was a padded table with a long sheet of paper laying over the top, and two arm chairs. There was a counter which had a sink, computer and other tools that Shane did not find familiar.

“Have a seat on the table please.” The demand was kind, but clearly that.

A demand.

He cautiously walked over to the table and pushed himself up into a seated position on the paper. After he finished he tentatively looked to Galina who gave him a reassuring smile.

“Shane, this is Scott. He is a friend.” There was a pause while Shane eyed the man. “I have to leave in a moment and go speak to some of your friends. Scott is going to keep you company for your doctor's visit. When your visit is over we are going to take you to see your alpha.”

“My alpha? I don’t have an alpha.” Shane was confused, a lot of information had just been given to him and he had no idea what to do with it.

“Yes Shane, I will explain more later. I need you to behave for Scott and the doctor, okay?”

“Okay” Shane wanted to ask so many questions, he was confused, and concerned about what was to become of him. But more than anything else he was afraid that if he did not cooperate with everything Galina asked of him he would not be able to have any of his questions answered, or to go home later.

Galina let herself out of the room after his confirmation slipping into the hallway leaving him alone with Scott.

The aforementioned alpha was clearly the first topic on his mind, but there was also the matter of the doctor. Shane had heard of doctors of course, but they were only ever used where he was from when there were injuries or illnesses that could not be healed by the community's skills alone. He had only ever known two people to see a doctor. One was a man who got a very bad injury on his wrist. That man went to the doctor and came home a week later missing half of his left arm. The other was an older lady Shane couldn’t remember why she went to the doctor but he did in fact remember that she never came back.

It was safe to say that doctors did not have a good track record when it came to Shane's opinion of them. No part of him wanted to experience the doctor.

“You don’t have to worry Shane” Scott spoke quietly but sternly from the corner of the room.

Shane's head snapped toward the man both hyper aware and terrified from his own train of thought.

“Doctor Wiebe is really kind. He is my omegas doctor as well”

“Your omega?” Shane had never heard someone speak about another human being that way. As if he owned the poor soul and they weren’t their own person.

“Oh. Yes, I am a mated man. His name is Kip”

Shane nodded and directed his eyes towards the man's left hand, but found that there was no ring, and it was clear that his neck lacked a bite. In his community there was a typical marriage ceremony where they exchanged rings, as well as a mating ceremony should an alpha and omega choose to be together. They would exchange bites on each other's mating glands showing that they were both equally each other's.

This man showed no sign of either mark.

Shane desperately needed to change the topic. He wanted to know more about the doctor though and what was about to happen so he figured while this man was showing kindness he might as well use it to his advantage.

“I’ve never umm… I’ve never been to a doctor before" Shane stuttered out. He didn’t know why he chose to admit that to the man who hadn’t asked him a question about it. In fact the man hadn’t asked him any questions at all.

It seemed as though the alpha was about to respond when there was a quick knock on the door. Though the person knocked, the door opened right away. It seemed to be more of a warning than someone looking for an invitation.

The person who entered was not a monster like Shane imagined. Instead it was a middle aged man who was not dissimilar to his father. Though there was a clear difference. The man smelled to be an alpha.

It seemed that everyone who worked in this place was an alpha.

“You must be Shane?” the man started immediately upon entering the room.

He nodded, it was the safest bet given his current state of nerves and anxiety.

“I am Doctor Wiebe, It’s very nice to meet you” the man had a white jacket on and a weird metal contraption around his neck. One that he took off and put into his ears. He began approaching Shane holding out the round end. Shane started breathing heavily, glancing between the doctor and the guard. He shuffled back until he hit the wall. Though it wasn’t until then that it seemed the doctor finally understood the message and backed off of Shane a bit.

Scott chose to speak up at this point and inform the doctor of information he had been made privy to just moments earlier.

“This is Shane's first ever visit with a doctor, so he may need a few extra explanations”

“I’m not sick.” Shane argued. “I don't need a doctor” He felt absolutely fine, he figured the doctor should know that, and so he could apologize for the confusion and allow Shane to leave.

“When can I go home?” he asked again. Galina hadn’t given him a straight answer, but he thought maybe the doctor could, or even Scott. Shane looked between the two men waiting for an answer, but the only one he received was from Scott saying

“That’s not up to us buddy”

Before having to give any more of an explanation, the doctor intervened in the conversation explaining to Shane that the metal circle was actually called a stethoscope, and that the stethoscope would be put against his chest and his back, so that the doctor could listen to his heart and lungs.

He let Shane hold it, and explore with it, even allowing the boy to try and use it to listen to his own heart, which was arguably pretty cool.

After he took it back, the doctor put it against Shane's chest cautiously, and it wasn’t too bad. The only thing that was jarring was how cold it was. The doctor used a few other tools that didn’t hurt, they just looked and felt weird. It was not enjoyable, but it was certainly tolerable.

The part he didn’t like was when the doctor asked Shane to take off his shirt and pants, and put on a gown instead. Shane refused politely with a brief “no thank you”, he couldn’t undress in front of strangers, especially when both of those strangers were alphas, they would hurt him, he knew it. Furthermore, he was wearing his church clothes and if he took them off they could get lost.

He only had the one set.

That was when the masks of kindness slipped off. They went from calling him by his name or calling him buddy to only referring to him as Omega in a very stern tone.

This is when Shane got very anxious. His scent turned from his usual one of mint and citrus to one of acid.

They told him “omega you need to listen” or “you better obey Omega” The two alphas that were being incredibly kind just moments ago were now the exact opposite. They were being cold, and Scott was physically maneuvering him and holding him in different positions while Shane fought against the grip.

Shane was forced out of his Sunday clothes, and left only in his boxers. He knew he couldn’t actually trust them. He was too nice and willing to do what they wanted, and now they were going to beat him, and do things to him that would never happen at home. In the chaos of all his kicking and struggling against the strong man, he didn’t see the doctor walk over with a needle in hand injecting Shane with something that made his body feel slow, and his mind far away.

Scott laid him down on the padded table, and produced straps from the sides that Shane hadn’t seen previously. He strapped Shane to the table and walked over to stand by the top where Shane's head lay.

Shane was crying as the doctor poked and prodded at him. Every inch of his body that was exposed was inspected, he was given at least three more injections but they didn’t make him feel anything but sore. The doctor worked silently, no longer caring to attempt to explain any of the process to the sedated and bound Omega. Shane just cried the entire time. When Scott started petting his hair he used all of his strength to attempt to pull away, but the hand just followed and the alpha explained that it was how he calmed his own omega's nerves.

The thing was though that Shane didn’t give a damn about how he calmed his omega, in fact he felt sympathy that he had to deal with an alpha like Scott. He was almost certain that Scott was the cause of that omega's nerves.

— — — —

Shane was not sure at what point of his time with the doctor he had fallen asleep, but he did know when he woke up he was no longer on the padded table. He was laying on a cot in a small room that looked similar to the one he had met Galina in.

Though he was no longer in the doctors room, he was still tied down with soft leather straps. This room had the same big mirror, and the table, the only new addition was the cot he was on, and the fact that there was different lighting that didn’t buzz.

He realized that he was not wearing anything anymore, not even his underwear. And his church clothes, the ones he had come with, were nowhere to be found. Before he had any time to think on the matter the door opened revealing Galina she was wearing different clothes, so Shane figured that a lot more time had passed then he originally anticipated.

“Good morning Shane” Galina said, sporting the same sickly sweet smile she seemed to always be wearing. “How are you feeling?”

He was sore all over, and uncomfortable, not to mention his raging headache but Shane was having none of the niceties this time. He was going to get straight to the point and get out of this forsaken place.“Where are my clothes?”

Galina ignored his question, walking further into the room and pulling a chair up to the side of Shane's cot. “I hear the doctor's visit made you feel a bit upset. Can you tell me why that is?”

Shane tugged on the restraints and said nothing. “I want my clothes please”

“It will be up to your alpha if and when you get your clothes back”

This was insane, Shane thought, this must have been some sick messed up prank, but no one popped out laughing.

“I told you. I don’t have an alpha” the whine made him sound like a petulant child, but he simply couldn’t seem to care at the moment.

“You do.” Galina informed him sounding much too enthusiastic for Shanese liking “as a matter of fact, he came to visit you when you were sleeping, and he is waiting just outside. He is very excited to bring you home.”

No. This was wrong. If an omega chose to bond with an alpha it was because they had spent plenty of time together, and both mutually wanted this. It wasn’t because it was forced onto him by his captors.

“No,” Shane cried out. “No. I don’t. I want my parents, and I want to go home.”

Galina's expression turned sympathetic. “Shane, your parents have been arrested. They along with the other adults in your community were providing you and the other omegas with illegal suppressants that were hurting your body”

“No, they wouldn’t hurt me”

“Honey, they were doing exactly that. Those pills they gave you, and the amount can damage your reproductive organs in long term uses. They could have taken away your biological abilities.” the alpha woman explained “but the good news is, that upon examination the doctor had declared you fully intact and functional”

Shane didn’t care what the doctor had to say about his functions, and how he was intact, but he did care about his parents and he wouldn’t let this woman talk about them in this way.

“They wouldn’t do that on purpose though. They couldn’t have known.” Shane was sobbing now. Tears were openly pouring down his face, and there seemed to be no end to the source providing them.

“I spoke to your parents Shane. They each confessed individually that they knew. It’s why your dad didn’t have any more pups. The suppressants ruined his system.” Galina reached into her pocket and pulled out a tissue wiping away the tears on Shane's face.

Shane screamed.

He didn’t say anything in particular, he just took in as deep a breath as he could and let out a long and pained scream. Galina was seemingly ready for this reaction or one similar to it, as she pulled out a syringe from her pocket and injected it into Shane's upper thigh. This made him feel sluggish just as the one from the previous day had, however his mind was still completely intact.

“If I take off the restraints Shane, do you promise to be a good boy?”

Shane nodded, not having it in him to say anything.

“Good. After all, I don't want you to meet your alpha tied down as well as the state that you are in.”

Shane shot her a sluggish glare that made him look like nothing more than an angry kitten in his drugged state.

Just moments later there was a knock on the door, though similar to the doctor visit, the person did not wait for an invitation, they just opened the door and let themself in. The door creaked open to reveal a tall man. He was muscular and well built. The man had curly blond hair and bright blue eyes.

“Mr. Rozanov.” Galina stood and walked toward the man. “I presume your presence means that they gave you the state provided tools, and all affairs and papers are in order?”

“Да” the man responded. His voice sounded to be the same type as Galinas, the same type of voice that he could not trace. They stood by the table where the man placed a bag down, exchanging quiet words with each other.

There was a moment of silence then the man spoke again. “If there is nothing else, I would like to take my omega home”

Galina nodded in affirmation guiding him over to the bed where Shane was lying, well into his dazed state.

“Shane, this is your alpha. He is going to take you home now.”
