"When you look me in the eyes
And tell me that you love me
Everything's all right
When you're right here by my side
When you look me in the eyes"
When You Look Me In The Eyes - Jonas Brothers
Jack sat there, reminiscing about the first time he laid eyes on Ianto Jones and how his eyes had just had a certain sparkle about them and his smile was shy but sweet. He looked so young back then and Jack couldn't deny he'd felt an immediate attraction to him; especially when he heard that gorgeous Welsh accent and the way the words rolled off his tongue as he spoke.
He wondered how he had come to hire the persistent young Welshman who just kept showing up wherever there was trouble and seemed to draw Jack into those situations.
Jack lied and said he needed a butler but it was more than that, he knew there was just something about him that fascinated the immortal. Every day as he saw the younger man working around the Hub, Jack found himself following Ianto with his eyes and could feel the immediate wanting to take him apart in every way. It was like a cheetah stalking the prey, there was a hunger for him and he had no idea why he wanted him so badly. But he did know one thing, that without a doubt he...
He was snapped from his thoughts by a polite knock at the door and looked up to see the object of his desires standing there. Jack smirked as he looked the younger man up and down, admiring the way his suit fit his body perfectly; it was no wonder the Captain couldn't keep his eyes off him.
"Ianto."
"Sir, I brought you a coffee." The younger man replied with a shy smile, apparently having noticed Jack's wandering eyes.
"Thank you, Ianto."
He walked over to the desk and placed the mug by Jack's hand, stepping away as the older man picked up the cup and took a sip, moaning at the taste. Ianto dipped his head and blushed, not sure why his coffee would cause such a reaction from the Captain.
"If I'm out of place then tell me, sir, but what had your mind drifting just now?"
"A certain Welshman who I'd like to get to know more intimately." Jack replied, giving him a soft smile.
While he couldn’t deny his sexual attraction to Ianto, Jack knew it ran deeper than that and once or twice, he'd had fanciful thoughts of taking the younger man out to dinner and courting him properly. Somewhere along the way, his sexual attraction had given way to something else entirely and while it scared Jack, it also thrilled him. It had been a long time since he'd thought about actually dating someone rather than just having sex with them. It was a dangerous thought to have as an immortal with an infinite lifespan who would always outlived those he loved, but then again, danger had always excited Jack.
"Oh, well." The younger man coughed, embarrassed. "Well, I better get going, sir, lots to do down in the Archives."
"Of course, Ianto." Jack grinned, watching the young man hurry out of his office, now a scarlet red.
That was the first time Jack had ever openly admitted that he had been thinking of the younger man without any sexual innuendos or casual flirting. Ianto tried not to think about what that meant and brushed it off, not wanting to make a big deal of it. Maybe that's when it began. Maybe that's when Jack had started to fall for the younger Welshman, fall deeply for him.
