Chapter 1: Prolouge: The first meeting

Chapter Text

The sound of softly squeaking sound of mice sounded from the dark corners of the run down underground, the building above basking in the night air. Crickets were barely chirping outside the somewhat ceiling high windows, and the sound of the few people scurrying around Kaesong. Frankly, no one wanted to be out during the early beginnings of the year, and no one enjoyed winter in North Korea. Everything was pitch black, thanks to the law of 'saving energy' by the government. Sure it meant easy training and raiding, but it also had its cons. Like being blinded by the police with their large search lights whenever you and your team were out on the scavenger hunt. However, this never stopped you and your team on the thrill of adrenaline.

Like wolves, you moved silently and spoke with eye flicks; That small group of 4 (which included you), had grown into a tight knit family after the major dwindling. Of course, lack of support and hope from the public made the missions rather difficult to ever do after the point of dwindling to 4 people. In fact, it gave them less hope, and ultimately you were deemed a poison to the public and therefore, if spotted by any form of authority with a gun or some weapon, were to be shot on the spot. This, aided the adrenaline and in fact helped to spur more missions; a test to mock the public for their 'support' and the government that the 'Wolves' cannot be caught. That being said, you weren't surprised to be moving about later on the day the news of the crash reached your ears.

Eyes turning over the moon-lit ground, you found yourselves standing near the edge of the plane crash. It was going to take awhile for the government to reach Kaesong; Perfect. Your sharp eyes flicked to the person to your right shoulder and then to the duo to your left. They were the perfect team for pulling these 'important' men out of the wreckage. Your bodies were littered with different articles of clothing, but all were apparent to the weather. Knee high boots, large wool scarves, ski-masks to shield your eyes, facial masks to conceal your lips, and fur-lined, and fur covered jackets over arctic gloves.  You and another girl named Kim Lay were the really only females that desired freedom more than the tall and 'well-built' men that were with you. It was nice to have a girl with you at your side, and it proved to be the best when you needed someone to talk to on your moonsickness. Men would never understand... But then again, it was probably best they didn't get moonsickness either.

Boots crunching on the snow, you were the first to approach very slowly. The others followed in slowly, spreading out like a wolf pack surrounding their prey. Coming to a pause, you gently pushed a piece of metal and it cracked under the weight and pressure your body offered. Eyes turning, you saw no movement, and moonlight spilled into the interior over your shoulder. Your lips pursed below your mask, searching for anything... A soft puff of breath came into view. That's when you narrowed into the section and you found yourself allured.

No emotion was emitted; You've been told that since the start of the rebellion that you've forgotten how to smile. Of course, you tried objecting at first but every single time it was told to you the dawn of realization begun to crack inside you. You did forget how to be happy.  Not that you'd like to admit. The years of fighting and experiencing your comrades get killed, raped... Hurt... It turned you into something else.  So when you heard the soft noises of one of the men it made a small spark within that icy heart of yours begin to warm.

Your heart was racing, and you slowly moved forward to pick up a piece of metal from the snow. A huddled pile of 7 men sat before your eyes, and their heads raised to stare at their savior in return. Their hair was brilliant colors, radiating something that only the highest of rich men within your government could ever have. Your breath caught in your throat at their soft skin, and one man that appeared to represent the snow itself- save for his black hair- and you instantly felt... in awe. No one spoke, until you opted to speak.

Your voice was soft, and yet it was somehow welcoming and warm as if you never saw the horrors of evil and war, "I'm happy to have you in Kaesong, Bangtan Sonyeondan."
