Work Text:

The incessant beep of the electronic vitals monitor echoed off the ceramic tiles of the white ceiling. Nurse Li, a nightshift nurse, had opened the room door with a click, slowly stepping inside with her squeaky sneakers. She had prepared to change the IV fluids that had almost run out, as well as needing the change of dressing for her wounds. A sudden joly ran through her body. The constant beeping was interrupted by a sharp blaring noise, the patient's vitals fluctuated, the figure of a black-haired bandaged woman rose in the blink of an eye. The nurse who had been changing her IV fluid bag, fell backwards in an instant; the woman who had been dead still like a rock minutes ago pounced up from the white hospital bed onto her. In fear, the nurse had tried to scream and wriggle for freedom. The struggle to escape her grasp was futile. A long light skinned hand reached up to her trembling lips.

"Stay quiet." PingSheng muttered under her breath to the poor nurse. The nurse, consumed by immobilizing fear, couldn't do anything but tremble in fear. "That's what I thought, stay quiet or I snap your neck in half like a twig." In a desperate flight or fight situation, Nurse Li, drowning in trepidation -- made the ultimate decision to escape by slapping and forcing her off. To no avail, before she could open her mouth to let the words out.

A loud snap! Echoed through the room like a stick in the forest snapping in the dead of night. PingSheng had bent Nurse Li's neck in a way that no human should have. "Goodnight, Ms. Nurse.." PingSheng tauntingly whispered into the unconscious nurse Li's ear. "Stupid little pet, I told you what would happen if you moved. Tell me why did you do that?" PingSheng smirked maliciously as she slowly placed down the dead in her sleeping coma onto the stiff uncomfortable bed. PingSheng slowly stood up, like a little not-so-innocent mouse crawling into the room. She took off her patient dress in one swift motion and started unbuttoning the poor Li's uniform. PingSheng noticed the security camera in the corner and stared at the red glare of the camera before grabbing the IV stand and smashing its glass lens. Ruthlessly tearing the needles in her veins from her arm, PingSheng had been long numb to this type of light prick on the skin.

The soft curves that enveloped the young woman's body seemed to be illuminated by the moonlight. The bright moonlight that dipped between the cleavage of her bare body. PingSheng dropped the patient dressing gown and watched it slump to the floor. PingSheng fiddled her slim fingers around the white button collar of Nurse Li's uniform. She carefully undressed the Nurse's uniform and ID from the unconscious cold body. Making her way barefooted over the cold porcelain beige tiles. PingSheng looked into her room's mirror, the obvious scarring and burn marks left on her body from that cold night left a bitter taste in her mouth. She could never forget the day, the day one left her beloved. Enveloped in flames, she had to leave the one she desired the most. Whether Jiang Wanshu knew she was still walking the face of earth, or buried six feet under, PingSheng was going to find her way back to her beloved soulmate. The one who understood her, the one she had protected, and the only thing that kept her wandering this path of life. The writer who gave her the inspiration to live on before she ended it all, and to let life take its course, like a straw raincoat in the misty rain.

Adorning her new-found fashionable nurse uniform, PingSheng appeared to be too excited for a grueling nurse on another graveyard shift. The slight fervent energy was ajar to the other healthcare workers. But to be honest, when you're dealing with patients left to right you'd just assume if it doesn't affect you, to leave it at the back of your mind. Using her Nurse identification pass, she slipped past every line of authentication needed to leave the hospital. Under the tentative questionable looks of "colleagues" PingSheng could pay no mind, focused on leaving this place that smelled strongly of the antibacterial disinfectant of alcohol. Just inhaling it everyday as a nurse there would've sent PingSheng into a mental breakdown. She had to act fast, as a dead woman the first thing you should know is not to be identified. Due to her recent stunt of faking her death and burning down the old arts building, PingSheng's face was plastered over all news stations across China. A cruel professor, killing and kidnapping students. When questioned by the old security guard that lurked near the main entrance, PingSheng used a sly smile and made an excuse that she left one's wallet in the car and wished to buy a coffee.

"Well, things like this do happen a lot. But still you should be more practical with what you do, it's not good to keep leaving and entering the workplace, especially with how dangerous it is at night." The old security guard warned PingSheng. She chuckled, this was like warning the devil about a murderer on the loose. She could do worse things than what would be done to her. Actually, she has done worse things. PingSheng's charm bought her a ticket straight to escape. Just before she left, PingSheng dropped her nurse identification card right on the floor. Old Wang reached to pick it up and return it, but as he raised his head the woman had seemingly vanished into thin air.

Just then, a loud bloodcurdling scream pierced the silent work atmosphere. A loud alarm siren blared through the white pristine walls of the hospital. When room [357] had been checked on, an unconscious woman with no vitals had been found with her neck bent horrifically. PingSheng fumbled around in the pockets of the nurse's dress before finding a silver shiny BYD car key. The engine of Nurse Li's car engine roared to life as PingSheng pressed hard on the accelerator.

Inside the hospital, when looking for signs of struggle, it was found that there would be no video evidence of what happened as the security camera was found wrecked and its glass shattered into pieces. The tiny red beeping light slowly sparked and went out.
