Chapter Text
The lights were hot on his Body when Euijoo stepped on stage. He wore his usual training clothes, it was only a rehearsal. Until d-day there were some practice hours left.
His eyes scanned the hall. The mostly empty chairs, already assembled for the performance evening. Some people say there. Few watching there phones, scrolling and killing time, most were watching the performers.
After a few seconds he spotted Yudai in the second row, giving him a thumbs up. He was the second solo dancer of the event, Euijoo being the other one.
A smile sneaked onto his lips, and as soon as the music started, his gaze faded into the background. He was well aware of every single muscle in his body, his legs already aching to move.
And then he started to dance.
---
Nicholas hated exploring new grounds. It was not like he had a problem with connecting with people, he was actually pretty good in it. Outgoing, extroverted, friendly. But there was just something for him that made him uneasy. Seeing the already established friend groups, everyone busy with their own life.
He was pretty thankful, he wouldn’t be the only new one starting University this year. There would be a bunch of freshmen with him.
But not yet. There were still a few days until class started for all the new students, everything topped of with a whole evening of entertainment and getting to know people.
A hand tapped lightly on his shoulder and he flinched, ripped out of his thoughts. As he turned around to the tapper, he found himself in front of the incarnation of the word impressive.
He was a few inches taller than Nicholas, his blonde dyed hair brushing over his shoulders, tied half up. His features were friendly and welcoming and he looked young, but there was no denying he was older than him. The white button up he wore didn’t leave his physique to imagination, without letting him look bulky.
Fastly recovered from his shock he returned the friendly smile of the stranger.
“I am so sorry! I was just so lost in thoughts I didn’t realise someone standing behind me.”
The man chuckled lightly, his eyes laughing even more now.
“Don’t be sorry now. Why should you expect being tapped on the shoulder from behind.”
He cleared his throat and reached out his hand to Nicho.
“I am Murata Fuma, year three. You look a little lost, do you start this year?”
Nicho just nodded.
“Right! Good thing I met you! There aren’t actually many freshmen coming to get to know the campus even before class starts, so I just wanted to reach out to you, so you already know someone long lived on this grounds. Also if you have any questions, you can ask me, …”
He paused and looked at Nicho questioning.
“Oh! Nicholas! Wang Nicholas!”
He laughed slightly embarrassed.
“Wang.. Chinese?”
“Taiwanese actually.”
Nicho smiled brightly, happy about the welcoming atmosphere Fuma was expressing.
“I only came to Japan to study, the fashion classes here are meant to be pretty good.”
Fuma nodded serious.
“One of the best in the country, I’ve been told. Well, I actually have to get going already, but make sure to come to freshy night! You won’t be disappointed!”
With a last wave Fuma turned around, leaving, letting Nicholas still slightly stunned stand behind.
---
When the day of freshy night finally appeared, Euijoo was nothing more than a nervous wreck. His knee was bumping up and down and his gaze flitted focusless through the room.
A annoyed and disapproving sigh sounded next to him. Ripped out of his circling thoughts he looked to his side. Yudai stood there, already in his stage outfit. Long pants, not baggy, not skinny, that made his legs appear even longer than they already are. His torso was clad in a white, flowing dress shirt with the first few buttons popped open. Everything was held together by a thick black belt looping around his slim waist.
Euijoo groaned dramatically. He was still in his lounge ware, his stage outfit laying neatly folded by his side.
“I don't think I got this, Yudai…“
The others face grew even more diapproving.
“What are you even talking about? You say this every time and look where it got you. Every time you excell, even better than in practice. Believe me, Joo, I watch you every time. There is literally no reason for you to be as nervous.“
He grabbed Euijoos clothes and threw them in his lap.
“Get dressed already. I have to be on stage in a few minutes, your performance is one after mine.“
With these words the elder left him sitting in the dressing room, confidence blooming in his chest. He changed quickly into his clothes, a baggy Grey jeans with white details and a black tank-top. It wasn't quite what he usually wears, but Yudai convinced him to do it. A few touch ups at his hair, so it wouldn't make his face even rounder as it already is.
---
The hall was crowded and full of noise, as Nicholas walked into it. The stage was still covered by thick red curtains, already teasing what the main event would be in the next hours.
As he heard his name being screamed through the room he turned around, searching for the source. A few rows more to the front he saw Fuma standing and waving.
“Come, we have another seat left!“, Fuma still screamed through half the hall.
Surrendering to his fate, Nicho made his way through the rows full of people talking, or rather screaming at each other.
When he finally reached Fuma he saw the other two man standing next to him. One of them was even taller than the blonde senior. His short black hair and round ears made his face look really small and shy. His lips were formed in a welcoming but still shy smile as he took Nicholas in.
The other one, finally, was shorter than Nicho by a few centimeters. His hair was nearly white, obviously died. He had to be a very old student if it were his natural hair color. He looked up to Nicho with a cheeky grin.
“Sooo you must be Wang Nicholas?“
He tilts his head, adding to his already cheeky appearance.
“We thought Fuma must have made you up in his head. Why should he just talk to random freshman?“
The taller one added: “Yudai and you said this. I believed him.“
Before a heated discussion could arise, Fuma calmed the waves.
“Yes, yes, we know.“
He turned to Nicholas.
“The one with the big mouth is Nakakita Yuma, the tall one here is Asakura Jo. Feel welcome to just ignore, whatever Yuma says.“
He motioned to sit down.
“Sit down now, The show is going to start soon. I don't wanna miss Yudais performance, he is going to open the evening.“
Nicholas sat down well-behaved, next to Jo he realized. From a few seats to the left he heard Yuma: “Yes and you don't wanna miss your boyfriend dance a second, we know, we know, you are the example of being whipped for your man.“
Nicho chuckled, already growing fond of the small group. He didn't know Yudai yet, but he knew he wouldn't be half as bad if he was Fumas partner.
Fumas following sentence, he wasn't just there for Yudai but also Euijoo, he didn't hear anymore. Getting drowned out by the deafening applause errupting from the crowd of students. By the shreds of talk he heard from the students around him, mostly second and third years, Yudai held quite the reputation. Everyone seemed to know him. And judging by Fumas proudly puffed chest, he made it his whole personality, at least in this moment.
When the performance started, Nicho knew why. Yudai was a tall, slim man, maybe as tall as Jo, still packed with muscle. Every movement was full of graze and fitting the music in every way possible. He flew over the stage, as if he wasn't bound to gravity, Nicho wouldn't be surprised if he saw white angle wings growing out of his back. The performance seemed like it went on forever, but after felt hours the lights dimed, the hall again errupting into loud cheers and applause. Yudai send a smile in the crowd, in Nichos direction, and he swore it was only meant for Fuma.
After that, the next performances where musical. One indie-band performing their first self-written songs, a solo singer with an voice of an angel, which Jo seemed to adore, because Nicho had not heared him cheer as loud for all evening.
After a few more performances the second dancer was announced. He didn't expect everything after just seeing Yudai dance. The young man walking on stage looked more unremarkable. His brown short hair was a little disheveled, but in the way that told him it was purposeful. His silhouette was hidden by baggy jeans but a black tank-top accentuated an incredibly slim waist.
When he started to move, it was as if he was pulled into a vacuum. If Yudai was an angel flying over the stage, the new dancer was a wild beast, dominating the whole stage for himself. Every movement was filled by power and frightening precession. Nicho wanted to get up, to get nearer to the man. He could've watched him for hours more, but his performance ended way to soon. He smiled at the cheering crowd, happy and full of adrenaline. But for one moment, Nicho was to 100% sure, they locked eyes, before the young man got off the stage.
