Chapter 1: Welcome to Pineapple Island

Chapter Text

The warm, tropical air gently kissed Butterfly Pea Cookie’s dough as her boat finally arrived at Pineapple Island.

Ever since she escaped Shadow Milk Cookie’s clutches, Butterfly Pea Cookie was even more anxious than usual!

If there was one thing she needed, it was genuine relaxation.

Preferably without memory loss and an all out war between two obsessed Beasts.

Thus, a vacation was in order!

While she was hesitant to leave The Faerie Kingdom again, Butterfly Pea Cookie was told that those who visit Pineapple Island usually returned refreshed and relaxed.

Not to mention Pineapple Island was miles and miles away from Beast-Yeast.

Surely Shadow Milk Cookie wouldn’t be able to find her here, right?

THUD!

CREAK!

The boat shook as it finally docked on the island; waking Butterfly Pea Cookie from her thoughts.

She let out a yelp, adjusted her backpack, and made her way off the boat.

The moment Butterfly Pea Cookie set foot on the pristine beach, a friendly cookie approached her with a wave.

“Ah, welcome! Welcome! Welcome to the ever-sunny Pineapple Island! Allow me to introduce myself: Mango Cookie, your guide!”

“Oh wow! That was fast! I hope you weren’t waiting for me for too long.” Butterfly Pea Cookie replied as she fidgeted with the crystals on her new necklace.

“Oh don’t worry! We love preparing to greet visitors! Especially ones that Mighty Dragon tasked us with greeting!” Mango Cookie chirped.

“Huh? Dragon? Oh yeah! The Mango Tribe still worships the ancient Ananas Dragon. I better not be rude!” Butterfly Pea Cookie chided herself.

“Well thank both the Mighty Dragon and you for giving me such a warm welcome!” Butterfly Pea Cookie smiled.

“It’s no trouble! Now, c’mon! There’s a lot to see!” Mango Cookie smiled a he gestured for Butterfly Pea Cookie to follow him.

Butterfly Pea Cookie didn’t need to be told twice!

She eagerly trotted behind Mango Cookie.

As the day went on, Mango Cookie showed Butterfly Pea Cookie just about everything Pineapple Island had to offer.

From the plentiful fruit to the bright and cheerful locals, Butterfly Pea Cookie couldn’t have been happier!

To top it all off, Mango Cookie was full to the brim of the ancient history and myths of Pineapple Island!

Butterfly Pea Cookie listened to every word intently and even jotted down notes in her notebook.

“Wow, you even brought a notebook! Are you a historian perhaps?” Mango Cookie asked as he watched Butterfly Pea Cookie scribble away in her notebook.

“Well, I’ve been studying to be one but…Well let’s just say, I’ve hit a rough patch.” Butterfly Pea Cookie giggled nervously.

“Well nothing clears the mind better than some songs and some sun! Come, I’ll show you the Mango Village!”

And with that, Mango Cookie led Butterfly Pea Cookie right to the Mango Village.

Meanwhile, deep within The Dark Side of The Moon, Shadow Milk Cookie watched everything with a scoff.

“Aww, did my silly little butterfly think I wouldn’t be able to find her on some remote island? Hehe! Oh, the eyes of my Other-Realm reach every corner of Earthbread! There’s nowhere you can hide from me! Hehehe!”

Shadow Milk Cookie gently embraced the portal he was looking through, dramatically draping his body across it.

“Oh and what’s this? Another gnat trying to steal your attention? You do realize that I know faaar more about ancient history than this sour little fruit? I am the Fount of Knowledge after all! I can tell you whatever you want to know. Of course I might spice things up with a little pinch of deceit! But still!-”- Shadow Milk Cookie poked the image of Mango Cookie as he spoke- “-Stop. Wasting. Your. Time. With. These. Inferior. Gnats!”

Despite his constant poking, there was no change in the portal.  Butterfly Pea Cookie was still peacefully chatting away with Mango Cookie.

Shadow Milk Cookie pouted and let out a frustrated groan.

“Ugh! Why are her eyes still on him?! And where is Black Sapphire Cookie?! I know I sent him out there to retrieve my butterfly hours ago!” Shadow Milk Cookie waved a hand over the portal and his eyes lit up. “Ah! There he is! Waiting for my butterfly just as discussed! It won’t be long now! Hehehe!”

Back on Pineapple Island, Butterfly Pea Cookie and Mango Cookie were met with a strange fruit stand not too far from the village.

Grapes and berries of all kinds and colors twinkled like jewels under the warm, tropical sunlight.

“Huh? That’s strange. These fruits at this stand aren’t native to this area…” Butterfly Pea Cookie thought to herself suspiciously.

“Oh! I didn’t know there would be a foreign fruit exchange today!” Mango Cookie chirped excitedly.

“Oh that explains the non-native fruits. But…Why does that fruit seller give me bad vibes?” Butterfly Pea Cookie wondered as she looked over at the fruit seller.

The fruit seller was a purple cookie covered head to foot in fresh grapes.

His smile was wide and friendly but there was an eerie gleam in his eyes.

“Mango Cookie, I don’t think we should trust that fruit seller. Something feels…off about him…” Butterfly Pea Cookie whispered.

“Really?”

Mango Cookie looked at the fruit seller.

The eerie gleam in his eyes was hidden behind a pair of dark purple sunglasses that the fruit seller just pulled down over his face.

“He doesn’t look suspicious to me!” Mango Cookie mused.

“I don’t know…I think we should keep going…” Butterfly Pea Cookie warned.

“Don’t worry! Mighty Dragon wouldn’t let anyone dangerous sell fruit on our Island! I’m certain there’s nothing to worry about!” Mango Cookie insisted as he gestured for Butterfly Pea Cookie to follow him.

“Ok, if you say so…” Butterfly Pea Cookie murmured as she followed along.

“Ah! Welcome! Welcome! Feel free to browse!” The fruit seller encouraged as he gestured to his stock.

Mango Cookie happily looked at all of the beautiful grapes and colorful berries.

“Oh I forgot to mention! I’m giving out free samples of my finest grapes today.” The fruit seller chuckled as he pulled out a basket of grapes.

“Oh wow! Thank you so much!” Mango Cookie squealed as he took some free grapes.

“And how about you, miss? Care for a sample?”

Butterfly Pea Cookie looked down at the basket and grimaced.

She didn’t care what Mango Cookie thought! She did not trust the look of the fruit seller!

“That’s ok, I’m good.” Butterfly Pea Cookie replied as politely as possible.
