Y/N was a beloved member of house Hufflepuff and ever since she was sorted everyone knew she was an embodiment of the house. She was Kind,Loyal, selfless, hard working and above all else loyal as can be to those she loved.
The whole house adored her most, treating her like family, the older students treating her like a younger sister and the younger students treating her like an older sister.
Everyone loved her
But that wasn’t just true to Hufflepuff house, turns out the whole school loved her. Mainly due to her kindness and selflessness she was always there to lend a helping hand or even just share a bit of her kindness to those that looked like they needed.
Even Slytherins
Which surprised everyone when they had found out that she had friends in Slytherin. Everyone thought it was such a difficult feat but here she was befriending nearly the whole house. It couldn’t be helped she was just too sweet for her own good at times
There were people who didn’t like her or even indifferent to her but that never bothered her. She knew that she couldn't get everyone to like her and that was okay with her.
But no matter what no one really had the heart to be cruel to her, she always had so much sincerity that people would accept her offer of friendship.
So when rumor spread the beloved flower of Hufflepuff had a boyfriend the entire school explode in curiosity.
IN HUFFLEPUFF COMMON ROOM
“WHO IS IT” Hanna Abbott shrieked at the top of her lungs
“ no clue” Susan bones replied with a shrug she leaned forward to try and whisper what she had to say “ but i saw her smiling at someone after breakfast but i couldn't see who it was the hallway got so crowded”
Hannah gasped “ it has to be Cedric”
“ Nah, he not really her type” s
Hannah thought for a moment and nodded in agreement
“Yeah i guess your right about that”
“What about the Weasley twins?” Susan suggested with a grin
Hanna thought for a moment but shook her head “ has much as they are good looking i just can see her with one fo the”
“Your right” Susan replied
Without even realizing other people had heard the conversation that they all saturated making their own guesses to the point
WHO IS Y/N’s MYSTERY BOYFRIEND?
It was now plastered on the notice board of the common room. One of the boys from the house decided to make a fun game out of it and started taking bets.
Cedric Diggory
Oliver Wood
Blaise Zabini
Fred Weasley
George Weasley
Harry Potter
“Who put Blaise?”
“no idea but you got to admit the guy has charm” a random girl says
A few people agreed but other were more convinced by they own guesses
This betting pool had been going on for days now and Obviously Y/N had known about it and all she could do was laugh since they were all far from the correct answer but she wasn’t going to let it slip who it was.
But the betting pool had gotten so popular that other houses started making their own guesses and at some point the twins had taken over. Likely the boy who had started it sold them the right to the betting pool for a pretty good price since he let them take over happily.
By now it has been a week since the twins has taken over and boy were they making a lot of money off of it. But one day they had an anonymous entry put it with an envelope with money in it
“Draco Malfoy, you’ve got to be joking oi George take a look at this”
Freed nudged his brother gesturing for him to look at the piece of paper
“No way its him” George scoffed
“ well money is money and look how much they bet on this”
George looked at the envelope and his eyes bulged out at the amount put in it
“Mate they got to be crazy to bet that much”
Fred just laughs at his brother comment “ welp I guess they aren't going to miss it if they bet on him”
They both laughed
Months had passed
Everyone eventually forgot about the betting pool
Well except the twins of course, they were still accepting bets and advertising it occasionally when the beloved flower was mentioned.
The pot was now enormous
Those who thought they would never bet ended up putting money in in hope to win just a portion of it
Some were very good guess but other were down right dumb
“Seriously Ron, you put your name it”
“ maybe she’s shy” Hermione just shook her head
“ and I think your delusional” he snapped his head towards her “ she smiled at me” he said
Harry just sighs “ she smiles at everyone
Ron just hung his head low
Many people tried to bother her trying to see if she’d let it slip who it was but never once did she let it slip or even hinted
Then came the quidditch match Slytherin vs Gryffindor
It was like any other game Y/N the ever so kind cheered for both teams. Some students found that annoying but she had friends in both houses so how could she not cheer for both it wouldn’t be fair.
“Your seriously rooting for both teams again” Hannah said
Y/N just shrugged
“ I have friends in both houses i can’t just cheer for one team it wouldn’t be fair”
Hanna just shook her head and laughed “ your unbelievable
The game was intense
The bludger fly every which way and the beaters knocking them back each time
The crowd was going wild and cheering
Players were yelling at one another on plays
And then
One hit caused the bludger to go off course heading straight towards the stands
Towards Y/N
People screamed
She didn’t even see it coming
But somebody did
Draco Malfoy
Draco immediately stopped her pursuit of the snitch and headed straight for her
“WHERE ARE YOU GOING?” Flint yelled at him but he had no time to reply
Ignoring everything else around him Draco dove and tackled Y/N out of the way
The bludger had smashed into the bench behind them
Silence.
Y/N blinked a Draco
His arms around her.
His face buried in her shoulder, he slowly pulled back to look at her
“Are you hurt?” he asked frantically
Y/N was just staring at him
“Merlins, are you hurt?”
Seeing him in front of her she just smiled
“now I'm okay”
Draco sighed in relief and hugged her
“I thought you were going to get hit by that bludger, I'm glad you're okay”
Y/N hugged him back and caressed him head to comfort him
“ I'm okay Draco all thanks to you” she then kissed him head
Draco pulled away and looked at her face trying to make sure there wasn’t a scratch and thank goodness there wasn’t, He then places his had on her cheek and gently rubbed it
“ I don’t know what I would do if you got hurt”
She was about to say something but the moment was then interrupted by a cough
They both then snapped out of the little world they were in and noticed that everyone was staring at them now
Seeing this Y/N started to blush and Draco shoot up from the ground to stand but not with out putting his hand out to help Y/N
“Thank you” Y/N said with a smile
Draco tried to hide his face but it was clear as day that he was bright as a tomato
The Slytherins starred
The Gryffindors starred
The other houses starred too
Y/N looking at all the eyes on them decided to grab Draco's hand and look up at him. “ Guess cats out the bag now huh” she smiled
Draco let out a sigh “ i guess it is”
“WHAT!!!!” someone yelled at the crowed which them lead to a chain reaction of everyone else yelling as well questions were being flinged at them
Y/N couldn’t but laugh and the situation while Draco was annoyed was not that the secret was out but the fact people would bother him.
After the commotion the game continued since there was no real reason the game needed to stop since no one was hurt but for the rest of the game people stared at her, people even tried asking her questions but she would just smile and point at the game signaling to them that they should focus on that right now.
Hours later after the game had ended the great hall was in absolute chaos, Everyone that had put money in the pot were devastated, some were so sure of their guess they put in their whole allowance. Boy was that a bad idea for them.
Soon the hall went quiet when they noticed who walked in it was Draco. People paused and started whispering. He made his way to the slytherin table and sat down but the peace did not last long till he was bombarded with questions. Soon he got fed up and shut everyone up. Seeing as no one was gonna let it go he decided on letting the ask
“ seeing as you guys won’t shut up about it I'm only allowing two questions so after that no more interviews” he said sternly
Hearing this the whole house started to collectively huddle to form the most important three questions
“ How long have you guys been dating now?”
“3 years” he said mater a fact
Everyone gasped
“Seriously, but you barely even talked to her back then, we genuinely thought you hated her”
“I never said that”
“Well you acted like it”
Draco then held his hand up to stop their chatting “1 left”
They all whispered until one of the first years just blurted out a questions
“How did you guys start dating?”
Hearing that question Draco smiled a little but before he could answer the whole room went silent and when he looked it up there she was as always a ray of sunshine in his life.
As she entered, she looked straight to the Slytherin table and started to walk towards it. Ever since her first year she had never made an attempt to go there. Even though she had friends there she knew that some of the other Slytherin may oppose it but seeing as the cats out the bag she thought what the heck why not.
As soon as she at the table she goes straight to Draco's side and smiles at him
“Hi” she says with a smile on her face
Still sitting her turns to look up her
“Hey”
She points to the sit next to him “seat taken?”
“No it's all yours”
She immediately sits down next to her and as soon as she's seated he places his arm around her shoulder as if they had always been like this
Seeing this the room was in full shock everyone was just talking to each other loudly “ how could this be” “ this is a joke right?” “how did they get together?”
Y/N just laughed and turned to Draco ignoring what everyone was talking about at the other tables
“What were you guys talking about?”
“Someone asked how we started dating. Wanna answer that one for me”
Y/N smiled she's always wanted to tell someone the story, but she just couldn’t yet until today
“well you see-”
Everyone in Slytherin house were on the edge of their seat but not even just them the whole school was leaning in trying to hear
“I asked him out” she said with a smile on her face
Everyone was shocked at the simple answer. People were expecting a story of hate and love some enemies to lover type thing but nope it wasn’t
“What do you mean you asked him out” Pansy asked sounding a little annoyed
“Well, you see I've had a crush on him since first year but was always scared to tell him until I had a strange feeling I should just ask him out one day. So i did”
She laughed
“And when I did you should have seen how fast he said yes it was really cute”
He groaned in embarrassment
“And since then, its history”
Y/N decided to omit some details such as how both had actually been talking in secret for years and had actually slowly started to fall for one another and that during their secret study sessions in the astronomy tower the two had kissed Draco initiating it. And because of that Draco had started to ignore her and she was so fed up with it she decided to corner him and confess then and there. Due to her own confession Draco admitted he was scared to tell her in fear she would reject him but turns out she had felt the same all along.
The whole table just laughed at the explanations thinking it would be some big story but turns out it was just a simple one. Well to them at least for Y/N and Draco only they would know the truth and preferred it that way
From across the room one of the twins had decided to get up on the table to make an announcement
“Seeing as only one person won, may I please ask the lucky winner to step up”
The twins for sure thought it was going to be Draco who was going to stand up and collect the money but when they looked at him he made no attempt to get up.
But to their shock and everyone else's Y/N got up and made her way up to the twins with her had out
“Money pleeeeease” she said in a sweet sing song voice
Draco couldn’t help laugh at the scene
The twins looked at her shocked but still handed her the money
Watching her walking away with the money one of them yelled towards Draco
“Looks like you’ve corrupted Hufflepuffs beloved flower”
Draco just smiled towards them
“Trust me mate, I had nothing to do with it” he said with his hand up in the air
Y/N is now seated next to Draco again and looks back up at the twins her sweet smile turning to one of mischief
“You sneaky badger, you conned us”
She shrugged and smiled at them “I'd like to call it a well-informed investment boys”
Everyone in the great hall started to laugh
“Looks like you had some Slytherin in you my love”
She looked at Draco and smile “I guess I do”
“I think instead of the Hufflepuff flower, we should call you the thorned rose.” you giggled at his statement
“and why's that?”
“Cause your as beautiful as a rose but if you're not careful, they get hurt by you thorns”
She giggles and everyone else agreed with the name
“I guess in Hufflepuff I'm the beloved flower and with you all I will be The Thorned Rose”
