This was new for Evan, this slow, easy life he now found himself in with the woman of his dreams. He was used to never keeping more than what he needed, in case he needed to make a hot exit. Head on a swivel, never stop to smell the roses, stay ready and you never have to get ready.
At the time, he wasn’t sure what made him ask Sam if he could move in with her in London. What he was sure about is that he didn’t want to lose her light in his life. As soon as the words left his mouth he was internally mortified that she would say no, or worse, reluctantly accept his shadows imposing on her life out of pity for him. When her eyes softened and a smiled appeared on her lips, he felt like his heart fell out of his chest and at her feet. In whatever capacity she wanted to have him, he wanted to be hers.
They went on walks in the park, grocery shopping, to see movies. All the things that, in Evan’s opinion, felt slow and easy. He can just bask in her light with no threat of magic imploding, people dying, or the shadows coming to claim him. During those moments, time seemed to crawl.
As it had been every night since Evan moved in, they began their nightly routine. While Evan rinsed off dishes from dinner and put them in the dishwasher, Sam folded the blankets and straightened up the pillows on the couch they were deeply nestled into for their movie night. She finished her task before Evan, smiling at him as she made her way to the master bedroom. Like a moth drawn to flame, he decided he could finish up the dishes in the morning and quickly followed after her to the bedroom.
He found her in the adjoining bathroom brushing her teeth. Sam wasn’t able to fully smile at him, but he saw the way her eyes crinkled when she caught his eyes in the mirror. Evan came in behind her and placed his chin on top of her head, snaking an arm around her waist to grab his toothbrush. She giggled and bent down to spit the toothpaste out of her mouth. Evan momentarily lost sight of everything as her backside rubbed against his groin.
“S-sorry,” he stuttered as he slightly backed away from her.
“Don’t be,” Sam said softly, making sure there was no toothpaste around her mouth in the mirror. Evan’s eyes followed the movement of her thumb running along her bottom lip. She shifted over to put on her nighttime moisturizer, humming an R&B tune they had been listening to during dinner.
Evan didn’t think it possible to be this in love with someone. It was all consuming to be so aware of someone and everything they did. Every time her body made contact with his, he’d feel his whole body light up like a light. He was so lost in the thought of the woman next to him, he didn’t noticed her staring at him in the mirror. If he had, he would see the same longing gaze he held for her.
When she was finished, Sam placed a hand on his back to get past him, bringing him back to Earth. He tipped forward toward the sink to let her pass into the bedroom then watched as she crawled into bed, tying her hair up in a silk scarf.
Evan finished in the bathroom a moment later and walked into the bedroom. It was a spacious room with large windows letting in the moonlight. He paused for a moments to take it all in, seeing the life they’ve made together these last few months. He saw a picture of the two of them on her nightstand, his robe that Sam bought him on a hook next to her own robe (“I want you to feel as cozy as you make me feel,” she said to him, handing him the gift). Things that reminded him that he has a place in her life.
Evan softly padded through the room, turning the lights off. “Do you want the curtains opened or closed?” He asked.
“I want to sleep in tomorrow, can you closed them?” Sam yawned.
Pushing down the thrill he felt at the thought of being able to spend a slow morning in bed with her, he nodded and closed the sheer curtains to the windows. He made his way to his side of the bed. It still sounded weird when he said that to himself.
“Are you gonna get in bed or do you plan on sleeping while standing?” Sam teased. He liked when she teased him.
Evan wordlessly climbed into bed and wrapped her in a tight hug at his side. She made a small noise at the sudden movement and laughed, settling into the embrace.
He sighed contently, but he knew he was in trouble. In this moment, he was in real danger of blurting out how much he loved her.
After months of being by Sam’s side, it was no secret that Evan was in love with her. He didn’t hide his longing stares, or shy away from softly caressing her arms and placing kisses to her hands, but he hasn't said "I love you" since they were on Weugan. Even then, it felt more like saying "I love you" to a friend. And now, lying in bed with her head on his chest, he wished he had been more eloquent in professing his love than by saying “I wanna be your dog” after saving the fate of magic with her and the other misfits.
Why on Sam’s green Earth would he say that? It made him sound like he wanted to sit in her lap and be pet by her. Which, if he was being honest, he did want that, but he wanted so much more. He wanted to protect her, fight for her, love her in every sense of the word.
He felt like his whole body was on fire. He was going to explode if he didn’t tell her how ardently he loved her. He had to say it, and he had to say it right then in the dark room they shared.
“Sam?” Evan whispered.
“Hm?” She hummed, snuggling into him a little bit more.
“I… need to say something,” He croaked out.
Immediately, Sam’s head shot up to look him in the eyes. The look of pure concern for his well-being clear on her face. How could he not love this woman? Someone that has never made him feel like a burden, who only wanted to care for him as much as he cared for her. Here it goes.
“I…Y-you…” He stammered. It may be dark but he knows she can tell how red his face is.
“Evan?” She asked, sitting up, getting closer to his face. “Take a breath, take it slow.”
She always knew how to ground him. He took a deep breath, exhaled and started again.
“From the moment I met you, I knew you would become the most important thing in the world to me. You are such a kind, caring, wonderful person and I’d still be in an empty, loveless apartment in Glasgow if you had not taken me in. I can’t fully put into words how grateful I am to know you, to be cared for by you, to be a part of your world, but I want to spend every day, every minute of my life showing you how… how much I l-love you.” Nailed it. He mentally kicked himself for stuttering at the end but he felt a huge weight lift off his chest.
He stared back at her face having just dumped every thought he’s had about her for the past few months. With the curtains drawn but not fully closed, there’s a sliver of moonlight across her face, going across her left eye. He sees Sam’s eye glimmer gold. Something he’s never seen before.
Time stills. He can’t tell if it is does literally or figuratively, but something feels different.
“Evan, I’ve been waiting a long time to hear you say those words.” She smiled.
Still looking into her eyes, he barely notices the lighting on her face change. It’s no longer moonlight but the sun rising. The sky now soft hues of pink, purple and orange. What was happening? They were in bed by midnight, and it took all of 2 minutes for him to profess his undying love for her. How was it morning already?
“This is the moment I’ve been waiting for.” Sam said lifting off his chest to sit up completely, her eyes never leaving his. As she did, the sun rose in the sky.
Evan couldn’t breathe in the sight before him. She looked like a goddess with the sunlight shining on her brown skin. He was in a daze, confused at what was happening around the room.
“I love you too, Evan. More than I can comprehend sometimes. With you, I don’t have to put on an act. You see me for all that I am and I’m so glad that you love me for me. Your quiet strength keeps me grounded in this world,” She spoke while placing her palm on his face, her thumb moving back and forth.
Evan slowly sat up to meet Sam’s face. In awe of what she said, and of what was happening around them. Just behind her, out the window, the daylight revealed trees that looked a little greener than what he remembered them to be. Strange for it to be early March, in London no less. And the room was a little warmer, though he couldn’t tell if that was because of the intense passion radiating between them.
His hand traveled up her arm to meet her face. Sam’s eyes fluttered closed for a moment, relishing the touch.
“Will you let me show you how much I love you?” Evan asked, her answer holding his fate in her hands.
“I would like nothing more.” Sam smiled.
With that, Evan inched his lips closer to Sam’s. It felt like an eternity, but when he finally kissed her, it was like experiencing the Big Bang happening. He felt every atom in his body explode on impact. He brought his other hand up to cup her face between both hands.
Evan felt Sam shift their position to straddle his legs. She wrapped her arms around his neck to deepen the kiss. His tongue shyly sought hers, and with a sigh, she granted him entrance to explore. He allowed himself to bring his hands to her waist.
He was unsure of how far he should take things. He wanted to move at her pace, make her feel comfortable. He begrudgingly broke the kiss to look into her eyes. He searched for any sign that she didn’t want to move further than kissing. Instead, the sign that he found in her eyes was one that said she was going to devour him. He happily accepted his fate.
Bringing a hand down to his chest, Sam slowly pushed Evan back down to the bed. With an intense look in her eyes, he noticed flecks of gold swirling in her irises. The sun now sat high outside as she straddled him. The trees and the flowers in the garden somehow at full bloom now. She truly was a goddess. His goddess and he’d spend every day worshipping at her feet.
“Is this real? Are you real?” Evan was beginning to doubt himself. He suspected he had fallen asleep the moment he climbed into bed with Sam, never confessing his love out loud, only in his dreams. He felt their palms together, fingers intertwined, and the weight of her body on top of his, but a small part of him could not believe it was happening.
“This is real. We are real,” Sam said as she slowly rocked her hips against him. His breath hitched in his throat, vision going blurry.
Sam brought their interlaced fingers up to her collarbone to let his hands rest above her chest. “Don’t you feel me, baby?” She asked, still driving him wild.
“Yes. God, yes, I feel you.” Losing his grip on reality, his hands strayed further down to feel her breasts through the oversized t-shirt she wore to bed. She softly moaned and increased the speed of her hips grinding against him. He was rock solid against her core.
“Mm, that’s right, baby. I feel you too. I want to feel all of you. We have all the time in the world.” Sam’s voice making a clear declaration that nothing would take them out of this moment.
Evan’s hands continued their ministrations, confounded by the softness of her breast. He needed more. Sensing his need, Sam’s hand traveled down to the hem of her shirt and brought it up over her head, tossing the shirt across the room. Evan’s eyes traveled as the shirt moved across the room and he caught a glimpse of birds outside pecking for food. The temperature in the room was much hotter. And humid. Again, he didn’t know if it was because what was happening inside the room or outside of it.
“Are you still with me baby?” Sam slowed her hips down. Evan turned his face back towards her and saw her left iris was entirely gold now.
“Yes, I’m here, I’m with you. I don’t want to be anywhere else,” Evan said, bringing his hands to her now bare breasts. She moaned again and rocked harder.
Not being able to bear being away from Sam’s lips, Evan sat back up to kiss her deeply and thoroughly. Their tongues danced in a way that made them both see stars. He brought one hand to her hip to move her against him faster. His other hand pinched and rolled a nipple between his fingers. This made Sam gasp and toss her head back. Her loud moans filling the room. It was much much hotter now, Evan felt like he was in a sauna.
“E-Evan, mmm, yes, yes, fuck yes!” Sam’s voice rang out. She no longer had control over her body. It bent to his whim, every beck and call. Like a wave crashing on the shore, an orgasm ripped through her body.
Evan growled, hungrier than he’s ever been. Hearing his name fall from her lips in such decadent pleasure woke something up in him. He felt possessive, obsessive, needing to hear her call out his name again. He put an arm around her waist to switch their positions. Sam was now under him, her legs quickly wrapped around him, still seeking the friction of his length against her core.
“Let me show you, Sam,” Evan said looking deeply into her eyes. He noticed that they were both now glowing gold. Somewhere in the shuffle, she lost her head scarf as well and her curly hair now had gold highlights that softly glimmered in the sunlight. An actual goddess. She whimpered and unhooked her legs from behind him.
Evan let his hands slide down her inner thighs and spread them apart further. He smelled the aroma of her desire. Oh, he was definitely hungry. His eyes darkened as he hooked his fingers under her underwear to remove them. He tossed the underwear across the room, not caring where they landed.
He placed soft kisses on her inner left thigh while his hand gently stroked her right thigh. A soft sigh escape Sam's lips and he looked up at her face. A slight breeze came into the room even though no windows were open and he didn’t hear the AC turn on. He didn’t take too much time to dwell on what was happening with her flower glistening in front of him. It begged him to drink of her nectar.
Obliging Sam’s body, he kissed her way to her core. When he arrived, he took a deep breath in to indulge in her scent. His eyes rolled back in his head with the smell of her filling his nostrils. His tongue made its way from her opening up to her clit in one long swipe. Her hips instinctively bucked against his mouth. After repeating the motion a few more times, he stopped to suck on her clit. His tongue swirled around the nub in a way that pushed her to the edge.
“EVAN!” Sam cried out, bucking against his face harder. His hands still gripped her thighs to keep them apart, until he decided that he needed even more and slid two fingers inside her opening, stroking in and out of her. Her climax crashed over her again. Evan eagerly drank everything that gushed from her body, not slowing down until her hand met his head.
Evan looked up from between his goddess’ thighs and saw the look of pure adoration in her eyes.
“Please, Evan, I need you,” Sam whimpered.
As Evan made his way up her body, the birds outside were gone, the trees and flowers turned various shades of red, yellow, and orange. He kissed his way to her lips. Now he had to know.
“You wouldn’t have anything to do with what’s going on outside, would you?” He paused only for a moment to stare into her golden eyes. The sun was setting in the room, the golden hour glow graced her body.
“Maybe,” Sam said as a smile played on her lips.
“You truly are magical, Samantha Butler.” He deeply kissed her.
“So are you, Evan Kelmp,” she said as he sat back on his heels to remove his shirt and underwear. He didn’t miss the devilish glint in her golden eyes as she looked over his body.
“You see something you like?” He cocked an eyebrow.
“Yeah, I do,” Sam’s eyes looked directly at his thick cock.
“Good.” He crawled back into her arms.
Now settled between her legs, their naked bodies made full contact. It felt like heaven to touch her body in this way. If not for the constant reassurance that this was all real and happening, Evan would still think this was a dream.
Once more, looking into her eyes, he positioned himself at her entrance. He searched for any hesitation, and when he saw none, he slowly rocked his hips forward. His tip teased at her entrance, making Sam whine.
“Baby, Evan, please,” she said in between kisses on his cheek, jaw and neck. Outside, the trees rustled, leaves falling. The temperature started to drop in the room.
He grunted and his hips pushed further in, his tip passing her entrance. Evan inhaled with a hiss, he wasn’t going to last long if he didn’t control himself. He set a maddeningly slow pace, pushing his hips in further and further, until his entire length was inside. Evan kept his eyes closed, trying to concentrate on not cumming too quickly.
When he opened his eyes again, he found Sam’s gold eyes glowing even more brilliantly than before. He eagerly kissed her as he began to quicken his pace.
“Mmmm, Evan, right there, keep going!” Sam broke their kiss to her cheek pressed against his. Her legs wrapped back around him, pulling him in deeper.
Evan moved his head back to take a deep breath while he moved. He found himself looking out the window again. Soft, chunky snowflakes began to fall outside. The stark white snow reflecting the last remaining bit of sunlight. The room’s temperature dropped even further but he didn't mind. He hasn’t been a wizard for very long, but he knew this would easily be the most magical thing that will ever happen to him.
Bringing his attention back to Sam, he kissed her senseless. His moans intermingled with her moans, both of them climbing toward their peak.
“Oh, fuck, Sam, I love you so much. I love you. I lo–” Evan couldn’t finish his sentence. He was too overcome with emotion and the feeling of her walls fluttering around his dick. His climax surged through him. His vision went white as he spilled his seed inside her.
“Mmmmoh, Evan! I love you too,” Sam said as she writhed under his body, chasing her own climax.
Both Sam and Evan kissed each others faces. Panting after the most intense sex of both of their lives.
Evan looked into her eyes, the gold dissipating from her irises as he slid out of her. He placed a peck on her nose and got out of bed to grab a wet cloth. He came back into the room to see the room completely dark again, the moonlight shining on the soft curtains once again. The snowfall that happened as they made love was slowly dissolving and the temperature in the room returned to what it was when they first got into bed.
Evan crawled back into bed with the wet cloth and began to clean Sam off. She sleepily smiled at the reverent look in his eyes. When he finished, he tossed the cloth across the room and hugged her back to his side. Again, sighing contently. His heart was fuller than it had ever been.
There was never a doubt in his mind that Sam was the greatest wizard of their time, but he never could have imagined how she learned chronomancy.
Evan glanced at the alarm clock on the nightstand that read “12:04”, only 2 minutes passed after the night (and day? And year?) they just had.
“Wait, how long have you been able to control time?” He spoke into the dark room.
Sam chuckled and kissed his cheek. “Go to bed, we’ll talk about it in the morning.” Placing her head back on his chest as she did (technically) only moments ago.
