"-to think that a mere girl like you thought she could stop me…"
Nighthide was in quite a predicament. She was being held captive in the heart of a villain organization’s hidehout and stripped of all her equipment. Quirk cancelling handcuffs secured her to what seemed to be a repurposed dental chair. There was a tray of torture implements arranged on top of a cart off to her side, a promise of the nightmare that was to come. She was completely at the mercy of the villains, placed right into the hands of one of their members, and honestly?
The worst part of it was being subjected to his stupid monologue.
It had been an hour, at least, probably longer since this guy had started yapping. About his plans, his ideals, his entire life’s story. Nighthide probably knew more about him than she knew about some of her friends, and he just kept going. He probably forgot she was even in the room with him by this point.
Her eyes drifted to the tray, looking at the pliers and ice pick and power drill almost longingly.
This was the real torture she was enduring.
'Where am I? Is this hell? I think this is hell…'
Seriously, the whole point of getting into the underground was to avoid the theatrics and drama that came with being a spotlight hero. Give her a drug lord or a weapons dealer to take care of and she was perfectly content. Let Midoriya or Neito deal with the former theater kids, they'd at least be willing to indulge them.
"So," the villain finally stopped his prancing and gesturing and turned to face her, smirking cartoonishly, "any last words?"
Nighthide stared at him blandly, "…sorry, I wasn't listening."
An expression of complete outrage wiped the smug look right off of his face, "you little-"
Aaaand he was right back to yapping, this time about how intimidating he was and how scared she was supposed to be. Nighthide had to stop herself from fidgeting or yawning. It was late, even for her. She was tired, and the chair she was in was really starting to get uncomfortable. She would much rather be home right now, snuggled in bed with her boyfriends and her cats, but she still had work to do.
Truthfully, she could have broken free and taken him out by now, but she didn't.
She was waiting for her signal.
This was all a part of a bigger mission and she was collaborating with other heroes. She had been sent in as a distraction and to extract information, which was exactly what she was doing right now. Though it wasn't exactly difficult work, this guy was more than happy to give over every little secret just to hear himself talk.
She could only hope that the rest of her team was having just as smooth a time as she was.
And speak of the devil-
A loud explosion sounded from somewhere outside the building.
It finally, finally got the man to shut up as he cut off mid-monologue to turn his head in the direction of the sound.
Nighthide let out a long sigh. "Well, as much fun as this has been-" which was not at all, "-that was my cue."
She quickly freed herself of the handcuffs and stood up, even taking a moment to stretch out her legs.
The villain whirled around to face her, his face pale, "what-"
She knocked him out with a single punch.
"Shut the hell up."
