“Poor Allister,” was what Gloria said when she saw the current state of Stow-on-Side’s gym.
Normally, just like Circhester City, Stow-on-Side had two different gym leaders that shared responsibilities and collaborated to meet the high number of challengers that came every day. Though Bea and Allister had very different styles and training methods, the former being a martial artist specialised in fighting-type Pokemon and the latter an introverted boy who preferred ghost-type ones, they could rely on each other’s backs to keep the gym up and running. Lately, however, that wasn’t the case.
“I-it’s because of her loss against Leon…” Allister explained. He sounded more tired than usual. “She’s not a stranger to losing, but… That one was a p-pretty harsh beating against Leon’s Charizard. She didn’t stand a chance! She got very upset because of it and said she needed to train more, s-so she left! That means I need to take care of the gym on my own! I-I can’t keep this up! M-my Pokemon are tired from fighting all the time, and I am too…”
Such a dire situation needed to be resolved as soon as possible, thus Gloria took it upon herself to make it happen. So there she was, mounted on her loyal Corviknight and heading towards Brawlers’ Cave, which was said to be the place where Bea had been last seen. The young trainer landed near the entrance and calmly made her way inside. It was after a while of walking and fighting wild Pokemon that Gloria heard echoing sounds coming from deeper inside. It was after carefully listening to those sounds that she recognized them as a battle, perhaps a clash between two territorial Pokemon?
She rushed towards the sound, which only increased in intensity as she got closer. It was a fierce battle from what she could tell because of the echoing grunts and light trembling of the floor. She took a peek from behind some rocks, and the view she got was simply astonishing. One of the fighters was a Hariyama, a Pokemon she didn’t know could be found in Galar, but he was not the cause of Gloria’s awe. It was his opponent. Were it not for the Galarian competition uniform and the number 193 plastered on those stretched shorts, Gloria would have never been able to recognize that the one trading blows with the hefty Pokemon was Bea. Just… way bigger than she remembered.
“Come on, Hariyama,” said the embiggened trainer, “just one more set. Hit me!”
Obeying the trainer’s command, the Hariyama launched a full-on assault on Bea. It used his weight to push and hit using his mighty strength. Each open-handed slam carried the full weight of his body, granting each blow enough power to send a truck flying, so any sane person would instinctively avoid being hit by one of his attacks. Bea didn’t. She was once fit and petite, but her figure had been transformed, sculpted even. She was way bigger and tougher now, enough to match Hariyama’s size. So instead of trying to move aside, the tan trainer stomped the ground with her mighty leg and prepared to take the assault head-on. What was surprising wasn’t that she was willing to receive an attack strong enough to smash rocks, but that in the moment of the truth, she managed to stop the Hariyama with her own bare hands. Gloria audibly gasped upon witnessing the huge woman collide with the Pokemon, their hands now linked. The assault pushed her a few inches back, but the fact that she managed to keep both feet firmly planted on the ground instead of getting sent flying was downright unbelievable. Both Pokemon and trainer grunted heavily as they tried to outmatch the other. It was an earth-shaking exchange of shoves, stomps and blows using their open palms. Neither of them had any intention to concede. However, Bea found herself reacting just an instant too late, for when the mighty fighting-type grabbed her hammy arm, the match was already over. With impressive strength, Bea was lifted from the ground, then thrown out of the chalk circle they’d made. She landed right next to the rocks Gloria was using to hide.
“Oh god, Bea!” Gloria shouted with concern, “Are you alright?!”
“Gloria?!” Rather than feeling any kind of pain, the gym leader was more confused by her friend’s sudden appearance. “What are you doing here?”
“I was looking for you!” the brunette replied, “I came here hoping to find you, then I saw you fighting against that Pokemon, and now I need a very good explanation of what’s happening!”
“Fine, fine! Just let me… Hngh…!” Bea let out some grunts as she tried to find the correct footing to lift herself up.
She didn’t look injured after being thrown like that, probably because she now had a very thick protective layer all over her body. Once Bea stood up, Hariyama came to her side and bowed in respect for his trainer, a gesture that she mimicked before looking at Gloria.
“You probably know this, but my last fight against Leon was… Well, pathetic. I felt so frustrated after being defeated so easily that I concluded that I needed to train harder. Thus, I came to the Isle of Armor to challenge myself, so I could come back stronger than ever. A foreign trainer gave me a Makuhita egg after I beat him in a battle. I’ve raised him since, along with my own training.”
Hariyama nodded in response, then lifted up both of his arms and stomped the ground with his heavy feet to boast his own strength. Bea nodded with pride and crossed arms.
“He learned from me just as much as I learned from him. We’ve been training together ever since.”
“That sounds kinda awesome,” Gloria admitted, “but are you gonna explain… this?” She gestured towards Bea’s figure, causing the tan trained to blush a little.
“Well, uh… Sumo is a very interesting style of fighting, but in order to properly practice it, one’s figure must meet certain… weight requirements.”
Only then it truly clicked why Bea was so big now. As a martial artist, it only made sense for her to be so fit and muscular, but now she was downright massive. Instead of her fat being stored in specific places, she had attained a stocky and well-rounded figure that made her look thick all over. Her gains had granted her a bigger bust, which was surely appreciated, with each breast matching a ripe cantaloupe in size. Dense pectoral muscles made sure they stayed firm and perky, though the same could be said about her entire body.
Her belly was enormous, yet firm, almost like a drum. It consisted of one round dome of densely packed fat that stretched in front of her body, right underneath the skin. Buried beneath were abs as hard as steel that granted her a strong core. If one were to punch her gut, it would take impressive strength to make her actually feel anything under the reinforced wall of fat and muscle.
Then to support it all, Bea’s lower train had been sculpted to be extremely resistant and almost immovable. Each leg was a thick pillar of dense fat and muscle, thicker than Gloria’s entire body. They were designed to make sure that she could take any attack head on and keep her ground, as demonstrated by feet firm and strong enough to crack the ground beneath them whenever she stomped. Much like her legs, her arms were thick and strong now. They looked flabby when rested, but whenever she flexed them hard, one could clearly see the fat shaping up into powerful biceps. Those were not bingo wings, those were cannons! Then, of course, having such a fattened lower body granted her a pair of wide hips and a caboose that looked very enticing, each cheek was as big as a Voltorb and just as round. They stretched her poor shorts, which had been resized to accommodate her incredible posterior.
As Bea later confessed, her now bulky figure had been built upon a diet of hypercaloric meals packed with nutrients, followed by napping to make sure the fat got stored in the right places, then a strict training regime to improve her strength and technique. She was way fatter now, but way more powerful too. She even optimized the way her fat got stored all over her body, making it subcutaneous and ensuring it wouldn’t affect her flexibility in the slightest. Sure, she was a bit slower, but she hardly needed to dodge nowadays. Her new purpose was to hit like a truck and tank everything like a wall. It worked wonders for her!
Bea explained everything while they set up camp and ate lunch. Gloria’s portion was minuscule in comparison to Bea’s, but it only made sense, she needed way more calories and nutrients to keep up with her training. As always, she was disciplined and undisturbed.
“I think it’s admirable how you rebuilt yourself!” Gloria confessed while Bea downed a huge bowl of rice. “But don’t you think you went a little… overboard?”
“Not in the slightest,” Bea replied with her usual stoicism, “because strength can only be obtained through sacrifice and discipline. Even now, I am but a disciple of this art.”
They both stared at Hariyama. If Bea’s portion was huge, then his was colossal. It only made sense: He was a sumo Pokemon by nature. Still, Gloria could tell that her defeat in their last match hadn’t been the first one, nor it would be the last.
“So I’m not done yet,” Bea continued, “not until I complete my training. I won’t back down now.” Gloria dreaded the meaning of those words.
“Then what about the gym?” the brunette finally asked, “You can’t just abandon your labors like that.”
“You expect me to come back mid-training? To make a fool out of myself again?” So that was what it was all about. Gloria could see that she had yet to move on after being obliterated by Leon in their last battle. Her pride was in shambles, and she needed to rebuild herself fully before being able to come back. “I will finish my training, then I’ll be able to return to my duties. Otherwise, all of this would have been for naught.”
God, even her head was thick now… or had it always been? Gloria knew that Bea’s upbringing was like the motto “go big or go home”, but cranked up to eleven. She was all about strength, discipline and stoicism, so appealing to rationality wouldn’t suffice.
“Hey, so besides Hariyama,” Gloria said, “do you have any other sparring mates?”
“No. We’ve been training together all this time. The occasional wild Pokemon is not enough either.”
“Then how about matching your strength against a different opponent?” Gloria could see in the tan girl’s eyes that she managed to catch her attention. “Only fighting Hariyama won’t teach you anything new, but a new rival? That’s gotta be what you need to improve more and faster!”
“Hm… You do make a point. What is your exact proposal?”
“I’ve recently caught a few fighting-type Pokemon that have been feeling restless. Training with a gym leader ought to be beneficial for everyone, don’t you think so?”
“That is actually a brilliant idea, Gloria!” Bea stood up from her seat, which caused a little tremor underneath them. “It’s settled, then! You will join me in my training!” Gloria could see the fire in Bea’s eyes. She wasn’t sure if that would speed things up, but she could at least try… “Right after my mandatory nap, though.”
“Huh?”
Watching Bea and Hariyama sleeping side by side like a pair of Snorlax wasn’t something Gloria ever expected to see… but she took a photo nonetheless. Then after they woke up, the real training began.
Bea’s intensive training only got more intense with the help from Gloria. She ate more, slept more and trained more, everything to make sure she was constantly pushing her limits. Hariyama was a master of his own style, but Gloria’s Pokemon taught the gym leader some very useful tricks. A powerful Throh showed her that strength was nothing without technique, and that against a more powerful opponent she could use their own strength against them. Gloria’s Sawk taught her how to strike fast and hard. A mighty Pangoro and a dishonest Scrafty put her in a pinch, for they did not care about honor and discipline at all, only the strength and ingenuity to overcome any opponents. Training with a Hawlucha was pretty unnecessary, but she got a valuable lesson about showmanship and how to handle flying-type Pokemon, which were naturally effective against fighting-types. In the end, no matter their opponent, Bea and Hariyama overcame each and every single one of them, getting stronger every time.
Then one day, she declared she was ready to return.
Bea’s grand return to the Stow-on-Side’s gym was a major event that was advertised everywhere throughout the region. She had disappeared for a while and everyone was ready for her comeback… or so they thought.
The moment the lights illuminated the main arena, the fans got to see just how much Bea had changed ever since she left. Long gone was the petite and nimble karate master that captured so many fans, now in her place stood a bulky mountain of fat and muscle, supported by thick pillars dense like concrete and sporting a hulking gut that hanged in front of her like an apron, yet didn’t sag in the slightest. Huge breasts, massive hips and a pair of powerful arms. Only then the audience understood that Bea needed to be broken to be reborn anew, and what a splendid form she now had. Most were left speechless and even the commentators lacked the words to fully express the awe-inspiring results of an intensive training in a land beyond. In the end, the one who brought an end to the deafening silence was none other than Bea herself.
“People from Galar, I have failed you in the past. The memory of that one fight, that massacre, still lingers in my mind. But not anymore! I have been dedicating every moment to strengthen my resolve, and I am ready to show you all what I have learned!”
The pokeball in her hand was thrown to the other side of the arena, and its light soon took the form of a Haiyama. Everything clicked for the audience then, and of course, the gasps were audible throughout the entire stadium. A foreign Pokemon was all Bea needed to be reborn from the ashes. At that moment, everyone knew that the trainer would not showcase her newfound strength in the traditional way by battling with Pokemon, instead she’d battle against a Pokemon!
Drums roared across the stadium and so did the audience as both the woman and the Pokemon assumed their positions in the middle of the arena, surrounded by a drawn circle that defined the limits of their showdown. Whoever touched the floor with anything but their feet or was moved out of the circle would be the loser of the match. Hariyama stomped the ground using his large feet, causing the earth beneath to shake. The quarter-ton woman mimicked the motion with similar results, a teaser of her strength. And so they prepared, looking at each other, ready to charge. The countdown started, and when it reached zero…
“Raaahhh!”
Both trainer and Pokemon charged against one another and their first clash sent shockwaves that could be felt throughout the entire stadium. Jaws dropped as the audience witnessed a woman capable of not only resisting such an onslaught head-on, but actually matching that powerful Pokemon as if they were equals. Still, the fight was far from over.
A quick thrust from Hariyama destabilized Bea’s defense, creating a small window that he took advantage of to hit her with an open palm, right in the middle of her gut. It was a blow guaranteed to knock out any human effortlessly, yet Bea wasn’t anyone. Though the hit hurt and pushed her backwards, causing her feet to drag on the floor beneath, she hadn’t yet lost her balance, nor would she leave herself open like that a second time. Hariyama, still on the offensive, charged with quick blows that crashed against her body, sending ripples across her entire flabby form, quite the spectacle for some fans. Even then, Bea did not budge. She was waiting for an opportunity.
“Hit me! Hit me!” she shouted, her veins pumping with adrenaline.
Each blow pushed her just a bit backwards until her talons were on the verge of touching the outside of the circle. Hariyama went for the final blow, yet before his palm had the chance to hit his fat trainer, her pudgy hands had a vice-like grip around his entire arm. Even then, the motion didn’t fully stop, but Bea was now taking advantage of it. Using the thrust’s inertia, she twisted her body and dragged Hariyama along with it, a maneuver that she learned from Gloria’s Throh, a judo master. Using her opponent’s weight against himself and adding some of her inhuman strength, she actually managed to throw Hariyama over her shoulder, a reminiscence of the technique he used to defeat her that day.
“Take this!” she shouted when the maneuver was at its peak.
Hariyama yelled in frustration, yet there was nothing he could have done to prevent what was about to happen. His heavy body got lifted from the ground and he was soon sent flying away from the arena, then the whole stadium roared. They had witnessed a new Bea defeat a formidable Pokemon by herself. If this was what the trainer was capable of, then it was guaranteed that her Pokemon would turn into a menace in the near future. It was quite the unorthodox spectacle, yet no one could fully say they were unsatisfied. Everyone loved the new Bea, some admired her strength and other her technique, while a few select individuals couldn’t stop staring at her new bulky curves. That massive ass in motion? Simply chef’s kiss.
“S-she’s finally back…!” Allister, who watched from the sidelines, said to his companion. His voice was both a mixture of joy and relief.
“Yes. Yes, she is.”
Alongside him was Gloria, the brunette who had made all of this possible, and who… seemed way more tired than usual. The bags under her brown eyes were a testament to how intensive Bea’s training had been, but not only for the gym leader. She had been forced to act as a trainer of not only Pokemon, but also of a very hardheaded trainer. The consequences were severe fatigue and a desire to get away from everything martial arts-related for a good while.
“Thank you all for coming today,” Bea said to the public. “But this victory was not only a merit of mine or Hariyama’s. A good friend helped me become what I am today. I want to thank Gloria for shaping me up to become a better sumo wrestler!”
“... What?”
Gloria heard very heavy footsteps coming from all around her like a Tauros stampede, but instead of Pokemon, there were dozens of men and women, especially women. Some of them looked thin and prim while others were already quite stocky, one of the women was even fatter than Bea. They all had one thing in common: Sparkling eyes that were filled with hope.
“Master Gloria! Please teach us the way of sumo!”
Still unable to fully register what was happening, she barely felt Allister timidly tugging on her sleeve.
“T-thank you for bringing Bea back…!”
“Don’t…” Gloria gulped as she felt her own soul leaving her body. “Don’t mention it…”
“Master Gloriaaaa!”
