The lights were flickering.
It was almost blinding, the violet glow of the crystals around it.
It blinked its light sensors, maneuvering its body as it fell.
The light beckoned it, as it beckoned the professor before it.
The future.
What would the future be like, it could only wonder. The professor’s extensive research couldn’t nearly prepare it for falling through time.
A flash of bloody scarlet drew its attention, a red crescent moon soaring into view. The beast quickly joined it at its side, roaring as it halted.
Only when the beast turned did it see the iron automaton mounted on its back, glaive still glowing from the fight. The valiant being that fought alongside the moon.
A quick scan of the pair, and its sensors blinked with recognition. Those were two of the creatures that fought alongside it, it realized. The ones belonging to its late creators.
“Come now,” It smiled robotically. “There is no reason to be afraid.”
It was regarded with two curious glances.
“The future is kind. It will take care of us.” That was what it was programmed to say. It couldn’t be quite certain what was next. It wasn’t quite certain even it believed those words.
The duo seemed to doubt it, too.
“There is only one way, and it is forwards. Do you understand?”
The lights in the valiant’s eyes blinked on and off. It tilted its head at the creature, satisfied with the answer.
The dragon only brought their nose to its hand, nudging it with a trill. A cry for affection.
“Do not worry,” It patted the moon’s head stiffly as the three looked to the rapidly approaching light. “I will take care of you. You are owed that.”
