Friendship can be strange

Summary:

Hanging out with Richard is always questionable to be a good time or not.

Notes:

Hi. This my first fic in a long long longg while.. I'm trying my best but be warned it might be ooc, and a tad all over the place in pacing.. It does end a bit abruptly but I'm lowkey just trying to get back into the flow of writing AND I do maybe, just maybe want to turn this into a little series. :3

Work Text:

Richard had always been intense, not for any particular reason other than boredom, it's just how he chose to be.

His demeanor at times came off as a cat with behavioural issues, one moment he could be as friendly as anything and the next moment he could be shoving you against a wall sending vague threats your way.

Once you've been around him for long enough though, it doesn't tend to be as much of a bother. It's still there, it doesn't soften or lessen itself for anyone he considers close to him, you could be his best friend and he would still treat you like mud under his shoes for whatever reason he wanted too.

You weren't really sure why you hanged around him as much as you did, during middle school he had been one of a few in your early formative years bullying you, perhaps not as bad of the rest of the kids but he still partook in it, but you suppose it came from a need to not be lonely.

Despite his former bullying of you he decided to somewhat change his attitude towards you once high school came around, he wasn't the nicest of friends but perhaps it was better to have bad friends rather than none at all, though Richard would often use that to his advantage against you, pushing you around, testing your limits, seeing how long you could last before you finally got sick of him. Not that he'd allow that to happen though.

Hanging out with him wasn't unenjoyable as he was a thrill seeker, doing whatever dumb stuff he could imagine. This time that was exploring a nearby abandoned building, specifically an old factory that was used to make who knows what, the only thing that mattered was all the possibly unsafe things that could be encountered there to Richard.

"You know at some point this'll get us in trouble - there's literally a private property sign." You huffed, pushing past some overgrown shrubbery in the middle of the path, "Don't be a wuss, besides, a little trespassing never hurt anyone." He spoke as he strolled ahead of you, vaguely gesturing with his hands as he smugly looked back towards you.

"Oh really? what about the time those dogs chased us out that junkyard?" You said scoffing at his words, "Oh come on, no harm no foul. You've still got all your limbs attached, anyways we're already at the entrance. Might as well go in." He said while strolling past the now broken down metal doors, fallen off their hinges from decades of rust.

Walking into the building, it was a large room, filled with pieces of old factory machinery long past their prime - infested with rust, dust and spider webs.

"Dude, I just don't get what you find so fun about this." Kicking at some old cans while you walked past them, Richard was ahead of you, twirling around to look at you as he took out a cigarette and put his lighter to it "Do you ever stop whining?" He said while taking a drag of the cigarette.

His words made you turn to look at him "What?" carefully watching him as he dredged closer to you, "I'm just saying, whenever we do anything you're always whining or complaining, it's like you don't even appreciate me." He said as he got closer to your face, taking another drag and blowing some smoke into your face.

His face showed some sadness, but it was hard to tell if it was ever genuine or faux with him.

"..Sorry. I uhm, I don't really mean any of it, I was just-" Before you could finish your sentence, you're cut off by Richard's vacant hand grabbing you by your jaw and lifting it upwards, "I'm one of the few people that actually gives a damn about you, and then you just spit it back in my face." He said, while he ran his thumb over your cheek.

You reached up and put your hands around his wrist, trying to resist his touch "Richard I didn't mean it I just.. you know, we're just always doing what you want to do, that's all.", You with a huff, while looking down to the ground, avoiding his eyes.

His hand slipped further down your face and onto your throat, giving it a light squeeze "You know I'm the only one that really cares for you right? none of your other 'friends' give a shit about you. I'm the only one who even talks to outside of school, actually hangs out with you, knows you." Dropping his cigarette and stomping on it to free his other hand, bringing them both back up to your face and cradling it between both his hands.

He lifted up your head, forcing your gaze back onto him "Don't be such a sad puppy I'm just saying, you really ought to appreciate me more since I do a lot for you, you know." The way the words rolled off his tongue with a tone mixed with both sincerity and condescension made something in your stomach twist. You both stayed like that for a moment, his hands cradling your face and your eyes staring holes into each other.

Within the blink of an eye he smashed his lips against yours, as though he was trying to swallow you whole as he passionately kissed you, getting slob all around your mouth and lightly nipping at your lips.

The shock of the intrusion to your mouth had left you at a loss of what to do with your hands, letting go of his wrist and instead lightly resting them against his chest.

As he pulled away from your lips there was a line of saliva connecting your mouths, handy work all done by him, the sight of it brought a small giggle out of him.

"Well, that was fun, huh." He said, with a light breathlessness to his voice as he spoke, moving his hands to tuck your hair behind your ears. You blinked repeatedly, squeezing you eyes shut for a moment before opening them again to look at Richard, "What uhm.. what was that." You spoke softly, bringing your arm to your mouth to wipe away some of the slob he had gotten on your mouth.

"Well I'm just coming into the realisation, since you don't really have anyone else, how are you actually meant to do anything exciting huh?" He let his hands drop from your face, "I mean, these are some important years for you, you don't want to miss out on anything yeah?" He spoke smugly as he put his hands into his pockets of his leather jacket, taking a step back from you.

"..And what exactly is that an offer for, Richard?" Quirking an eyebrow up at him as you brought your hands to your jeans, holding onto the fabric to ground yourself from the current situation.

"Eh, I think you know what I mean- unless, you do want me to explain it to you." He spoke with sarcasm as he tilted his head at you, pulling out another cigarette and gently putting it in his mouth to light it.

"No- no. uh. Let's just finish here.." Squeezing your eyes shut for a second and then looking to him, "Yeah, there's a vat of oil somewhere, should find some stuff to through into it." He said after taking a drag of his cigarette, walking ahead of you with a small skip in his step.

It took you a moment to follow him, your eyes trailing him as he walked away. The hell had just gotten into him?
