Bunbun

Summary:

“A-Xīn is very particular about his purees, no carrots at all, he will flip the entire bowl over if even the smallest hint of carrot is placed in it,” A-Xīn babbles in his ear as his dear son continues to fuss over his cute, adorable and fat little grandbaby. Lan Zhan grabs the baby bag Yuan has packed, as well as the extra baby bag Jin Ling had brought as well, in case one bag wasn’t enough.

“Have fun at your Jin company snooze fest,” Jin Ling gives an eyeroll to his comment and his beloved son gives out a small giggle.

His son worries too much.

Work Text:

“Say bye-bye to Baba and A-Die A-Xīn,” he picks up A-Xīn’s chubby arm and tries to form the best wave he can. A-Xīn lets out the cutest little gurgle and reaches towards his A-Die.

“Ba ba ba ba ba,” A-Xīn’s lets out a shriek and claps his hands together. Both Jin Ling and Yuan give their own waves and head out, not before Yuan takes another glance at A-Xīn.

“Oh go you big sofie, I thought your father was bad. Have some fun with your husband,” he gives his son a wink and Sizhui’s ears blush pink at the tips as he hurries towards Jin Ling’s stupid big yellow expensive car.

“We are going to have so much fun aren’t we,” he tickles A-Xīn’ pudgy stomach and gives him a big smooch on the cheek.

His son worries too much.

His son was right, A-Xīn has not stopped crying for a solid hour. Both him and Lan Zhan have tried everything, changing his diaper, burping him, feeding him, even singing his favourite song Yuan wrote for him. Nothing has worked and Wei Ying is so close to jumping off his own home’s balcony.

“Maybe he misses Yuan,” Lan Zhan’s soft voice brings him back to the present, A-Xīn’s blotchy face covered in tears.

“But we babysit him all the time, what’s the difference now?” he continues to rock his demon of a grandchild, but the crying prevails.

His perfect husband grabs A-Xīn out of his hands and motions for him to sit on the couch, next to the abandoned bowl of carrot-free puree.

Lan Zhan begins to hum Yuan’s songs again and rock A-Xīn back and forth, occasionally caressing his tuft of black hair.

“Yuan was never this fussy,” Lan Zhan gives him a glare, but he waves him off.

“Can’t believe we used to be parents and deal with this stuff, god how did we do it,” he hears his dear husband let out a hum in agreement.

A-Xīn’s cries have subdued a bit, more so because of the little baby’s own exhaustion than any of their actions.

The only times he can remember Yuan being this unconsolable was when they had forgotten to pack Bunbun for his sleepover with Jin Ling. That silly rabbit plush went everywhere with them, the grocery store, family events, even bathtime before Lan Zhan banned it for being unsanitary.

Yuan had eventually grown out of carrying Bunbun everywhere, and the plush was soon moved to their attic, collecting dust. He knows it’s stupid but it might just work, who knows maybe A-Xīn is more similar to Yuan than they realized.

“Lan Zhan, I know how to make A-Xīn, stop crying,” Lan Zhan looks down at him through his glasses, in all his sexy glory. He plants a sloppy kiss on his beautiful husband’s cheek as he rushes to the attic.

“Lan Zhan, where is the attic hatch again,” curse his horrible memory.

“Do you think they fed him carrots, I told them about the carrots right A-Ling,” Yuan continues to bounce on his dick, though his rhythm is achingly slow.

When he suggested they blow off some steam in his car, he thought it would take Yuan’s mind off of worrying, but he stands corrected.

He plants a kiss behind Sizhui’s ear, and runs his fingers through his beloved’s long silky hair.

“You told them, plus as much as your Baba gets on my nerves, A-Xīn’s in good hands. I mean your father’s there so nothing should go wrong,” Yuan lets out a little giggle and nuzzles his face into the crook of his neck.

“This is the same man who made us all organic baby food and found us a wet nurse, A-Xīn is probably happily eating his organic, handmade, carrot free puree. Now let’s have our own fun,” he grabs Sizhui’s hips and begins to lift him up and down on his cock.

“Right there~,” god his husband is so hot.

“Someone likes Bunbun,” A-Xīn gives him a gummy grin as he continues to beat the everloving shit of out of said Bunny. Currently little A-Xīn has the bunny by its ears.

“Gentle,” Lan Zhan’s hands dwarf A-Xīn’s as he guides the baby to hold poor Bunbun by the torso and not the ears.

He pulls out his phone and takes a bunch of pictures, his grandchild and husband are so cute.

“Wei Ying, the puree,” right he still has to feed A-Xīn. He grabs the green spoon and makes airplane noises to entice A-Xīn. A-Xīn opens his mouth and Wei Ying feeds him Lan Zhan’s crunchy mom puree. A day after Yuan had told them about the adoption of A-Xīn, his husband went and bought a puree maker so their grandbaby could have the best of the best.

“We should have another kid Lan Zhan~”

“Mn,” he lets out a gasp and almost drops the green spoon.

“Lan Zhan we are too old for that, I was just joking,” he continues his job of feeding A-Xīn, bringing the spoon towards the baby’s lips.

“Trying doesn’t hurt,” he drops the spoon on their white couch, curse Lans and their love of white minimalism. A-Xīn lets out a shriek of laughter and he can’t find it in himself to be mad.

As he’s getting ready for bed, he hears his phone beep. A thousand thoughts run through his mind, is A-Xīn ok, why else would his parents text him in the middle of the night. He stops braiding his hair and rushes over to the nightstand, where he finds a text from Baba. He clicks on it and to his relief the message is a simple photo.

The photo has A-Xīn as the focus, his gummy smile melting away his worries, though in his hands is a stuffed animal he and Jin Ling didn’t pack for A-Xīn.

“Bunbun!” he sees his beloved son grip the poor stuffed animal brutally by the ears.

“I haven’t seen that thing in years, man remember that smell it had after you took a bath with it. My dad swore the smell lingered in our house too,” Jin Ling presses a kiss to the side of his temple.

“Your son is assaulting Bunbun, and you have nothing to say for it,” he begins to write a strongly worded message back to Baba.

To Baba:

If Bunbun has even a piece of fur misplaced on him, I’m telling father you were the one who broke his favourite coffee mug with our family picture on it.

From Baba:

THE BETRAYAL

FROM MY OWN SON

THE ONE I BIRTHED FROM MY OWN BODY

BUNBUN WILL RETURN TO YOU IN PERFECT CONDITION

To Baba:

Good.

From Baba:

I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE IT

HOW UNFILIAL MY SON IS

“Come to bed Yuan,” he sighs and begins to place his phone back down on the nightstand, but before he turns it off he makes sure to save the photo of his son. He can’t wait to see him again, even if he viciously attacked poor Bunbun.

Notes:

Some cute headcanons that didn't make it into the fic
-Bunbun was given to Yuan by Lan Zhan after a few months of his adoption. He saw Yuan glancing at it whenever they passed by the toy shop
-A-Yuan is so attached to Bunbun due to his abandonment issues as he was in foster care before being adopted by Wei Ying and Lan Zhan
-As he became more secure in their household, his attachment to Bunbun wore off little by little
-Wei Ying broke Lan Zhan's mug when doing the dishes (though he was relieved because the photo Lan Zhan picked was awful, Wei Ying looked like he was mid sneeze...because he was) (Lan Zhan picked the photo because of this)
-A-Xīn's favourite babysitter is Wen Ning, because who doesn't love Wen Ning
-Jiang Cheng hates Wen Ning because of said fact
-Yuan lets A-Xīn keep Bunbun, though he still gets a heart attack everything A-Xīn throws poor Bunbun while playing
