Phantoms with Hats

Summary:

John Constantine has an adopted son. Who knew? Nobody except them. Oh ya and the son owns the father’s soul, and eats hands for fun, but that’s unrelated!

Or

John Constantine adopted Danny Fenton and he told no one. Also Danny is now the embodiment of Carl from Llamas with Hats, so he’s a tad bit feral, and when the Justice League meets him and only thinks “oh so cute” Danny’s gotta change their mind.

(I’m not great at summaries so let’s hope you get the gist of it)

Notes:

TRAUMA WARNING: SOME BLOOD AND GORE AND LOTS OF MORBID TOPICS
I haven’t read any of the comics or watched any of the shows with Constantine in it so this might be ooc.
Also please do not leave any criticism in the comments, it’s gonna be bad, I failed English.
If there is any other tags or warnings you want me to put in please tell me in the comments.

Chapter 1: Episode 1&2 of Llamas with Hats

Chapter Text

Having a child as a hero wasn’t surprising, adopting them wasn’t that surprising either (just look at Batman’s brood), but what was surprising was John Constantine, the man that sells his sole like it's candy, rushing out of a meeting (I know, shocking that he actually attended) mumbling something about a son. It was quiet for a while after that as everyone collectively decided that they were all hearing things. The only other option was to accept the fact that the most irresponsible and emotionally unwell member of the entire hero community had a son.

A while after the meeting, Constantine finally introduced them all to his son. The son in question looked absolutely nothing like the father. Wild black hair and sharp blue eyes. And so everyone held out hope that he acted nothing like the father.

Constantine had only showed them his son because he felt they needed to know what he looked like in case he was spotted in the wild. This would prove useful later, not to any of the heroes in the room, and not that anyone knew that, as they saw this small, cute child and all collectively decided that he was in fact an angel. Danny saw all these heroes see him this way and knew it would feel amazing when he crushed this assumption like an annoying fly.

Constantine only saw the smirk on his sons face and knew that this was a bad idea.

--------

It was a dark night in Gotham, which wasn't unusual, when it happened. Joker had broken out of Arkam while Constantine was in Bruce's cave, talking about a case they were both working on. The alarms rang, bright and harsh, and the entire bat family geared up to hunt down Joker before he could harm anyone.

Danny, who was sitting in a corner invisible, decided he knew exactly what to do.

Constantine, who was preparing to head home, shivered and immediately started spamming his son, begging him to not do anything. Danny didn't listen.

When he finally found his son, it was too late.

"Danny, why is the Joker's corpse here!" Constantine yelled as he ran up to Danny, who was sitting playing on his phone in a dark and disgusting alley.

"Oh... Hey... How did he get here?" He said looking up from his phone and looking from Constantine, to Joker's body, and back to Constantine.

"Kid, what did you do?!" John yelled at he stopped in front of Danny.

"Me? Uh, I didn't do this." Danny said slowly standing up from the ground.

"Explain what happened, Kid!" John said as he inspected the body.

"I've never seen him before in my life!" Danny said, even tho Jokers face was constantly in the news.

"Why did you bloody kill him, Danny?!" John said stepping back from the body again.

"I do not kill people. That is... That is my least favorite thing to do." Danny said raising his hands in the air.

"Tell me, Danny, exactly what were you doing before I got here."

"Alright, well... I-I was on the roof..." Danny says pointing to the roof above them.

"Okay..." Constantine said slowly.

"I was uh... sitting on the edge..." Danny said, nodding a long to his own words.

"Yes.." Constantine said still cautious.

"Playing on my phone..." Danny said, holding up his phone slightly.

"Go on..." Constantine said, trying to get him to move his words faster.

"And uh, this guy walked in this alley..." Danny said, pointing to Joker.

"Okay..." Constantine said, giving the Joker a wary look.

"So, I went down to him..." Danny said.

"yes..." Constantine said, waiting for the confession.

"And I uh, I stabbed him 37 times in the chest." Danny said, nodding and smiling.

John pauses and puts his hand up to his face and pinches the bridge of his nose.

"Danny" he draws the name out for a while.

"That bloody kills people!" he says putting his hand down and staring at Danny.

"Oh, Oh wow, I uh I didn't know that!" Danny says in fake disbolief

"How could you not know that?!" Constantine yelled, pointing at him accusingly.

"Ya I'm in the wrong here... I suck!" Danny nodded and put his head down.

John sighs as he slowly looks back at the body and pauses

"What happened to his hands?" He says as he squats down to get a better look.

"What's that?" Danny said, trying to keep the smile he had on his face out of his voice.

"His hands. Why-why are they missing" Constantine said, giving them a wary look.

"Well I uh, I kinda cooked them up. And ate them." Danny said, wiping at his face to make sure there isn't any on it.

John pauses as he slowly looked back up at Danny as Danny just smiled back down at him.

"Danny..." Constantine said, once again dragging the name out.

"Well I uh I was hungry. And well, you know, when you crave hands..." Danny shrugs

"Why the bloody hell would you do that?!" Constantine yelled, exasperated

"I was hungry for hands! Gimme a break!" Danny says, rubbing his stomach

"Danny...!" Constantine tries.

"My stomach was making the rumblies." Danny said, nodding.

"Danny!" Constantine tries again.

"That only hands would satisfy!" Danny once again gave Constantine a big smile.

"What is bloody wrong with you, kid?!" Constantine yelled

"Well, I, I kill people and I eat hands, That's, That's two things." Danny said, putting up two fingers.

Constantine sighs and slowly makes a portal back to the apartment they are staying at, and pulls Danny through the portal, unaware as Danny smiles up to Batman, the man that had listened to the entire conversation.

That was the night that Batman decided to research as much as he could about Danny to find out exactly what Danny was and how to stop him.

----------

Barry Allen was used to supposedly random calls and texts. He had a large enough family and even if you didn't count calls from them, you could look at all the random calls he got from his friends. The thing is, he wasn't used to random texts from Batman! Maybe some texts, but creepy texts that only say, "West lake, outside Central City, be fast and be prepared, save as many as possible and stay alert."

Again, a very creepy and random message, but he trusted Batman and so he went. When he got there he immediately knew why he was supposed to be there. A large boat, looking as if it were a cruise ship was sinking. The thing was, he couldn't get there. It was as if some unknown force was blocking his entrance, and when he finally ran at it with as much force as he could it only showed itself in the area of the punch. It was a green sort of barrier. All his attempts at entrance into the lake were fruitless. The only thing he could do was watch, and so he did. He watched as John freaking Constantine and his son got out and into a life boat. Of course Constantine was there. It just meant that everything that was happening was some magic crap. But Barry couldn't do anything but watch and listen into their conversation.

"Kid, what the bloody hell was all of that!" Constantine said breathing heavily as if he had run a marathon.

"I'm not sure what you're referring to." His son said, lightly patting out some fire that had started on the hem of his jacket.

"You sunk an entire cruise ship, Danny!" Constantine said pointing at the sinking boat. It was the kids fault?! how had this sweet innocent child sunk an entire ship? Even if he had some sort of magic like his father, it had to way down on his moral compass.

"Are you sure that was me? I, I would think I'd remember something like that." The kid asked. And see, definitely was not this innocent kids fault.

"Kid, I watched you fire a harpoon into the captain's face!" Constantine said flailing his arms in the air. And ok, maybe it was the kid, but it could also of been a doppelganger or some sort of hypnosis.

"That sounds dangerous." the kid said standing up straighter. Which is another point for the Not The Kid side of it.

"You were throwing children off the ship!" Constantine said, sounding desperate.

"That, uh... that must have been horrifying to watch" The kid said looking away from Constantine with a... was the kid smirking?! Ok, maybe Constantine was telling the truth, maybe.

"Then you started making ice sculptures make out!" Constantine yelled, pointing a finger at the kid.

"Well, thank the ancients that the children weren't on board to see it." The kid said, fully smiling now. And ya, this was definitely this kids fault.

"Uh... Danny, why is the lifeboat all red and sticky?" Constantine said, looking down

"Well I guess you could say it is red and sticky." The kid said, putting on the most fake shocked face Barry had ever seen.

"Kid, what are we standing in?" Constantine asked giving the kid and uneasy look.

"Would you believe its strawberry milkshake?" The kid said.

"No, I would not believe that!" Constantine yelled back at him.

"Uhh... melted gumdrops?" The kid asked giving Constantine a giant smile.

"No" Constantine said as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Boat nectar?" The kid said, and that was frankly a terrible excuse.

"No!" Constantine yelled, seeming to get angrier by the second.

"Some of the Ancient's tears?" The kid said, and what was an ancient?

"Tell me the truth, kid!" Constantine said while pinching the bridge of his nose again.

"Fine... It's the lovely elderly couple from 2B." The kid said, and wow that was weird to hear the kid actually admit to murder.

"KID!" Constantine yelled while looking down in horror.

"Well they were, uh, they were taking all the croissant rolls." The kid said, which was a terrible reason.

"I can't believe what I'm hearing!" Constantine yelled, which Barry could relate to.

"I will not apologize for art!" The kid said and looked at Constantine like he was offended for what was said.

There was a pause in the conversation and Barry took it to digest everything he's heard.

"Where are the other lifeboats?" Constantine asked as he looked around the lake, and Barry then also realized that they were the only lifeboats on the water.

"Whoa! You won the prize, I didn't even notice that." The kid said, laughing a little to himself.

"Where are the other lifeboats, Danny?" Constantine asked, seeming to get more frantic.

"Looking at the trajectory of the moon and the sun, probably at the bottom of the ocean... I stabbed lots of tiny holes in them!" The kid said seeming excited and pleased with himself.

"Kid!" Constantine yelled, putting his hands over his face and sighing loudly.

"I have a problem, I have a serious problem." The kid said, still smiling.

"You are just, bloody terrible today!" Constantine sighed, and this made it seem like a daily occurrence, who was this kid?!

"Shh! Do you hear that? That's the sound of forgiveness." The kid said as he put a finger up to Constantine's face.

"That's the sound of people drowning, kid" Constantine said, pushing down the kids finger.

"That is what forgiveness sounds like. Screaming and then silence." The kid said, nodding seriously.

Constantine let out a long and loud groan and just decided to be over with it. He made a large portal and walked through, pulling the kid along with him. Constantine didn't notice as Danny, not so discreetly, waved at the Flash while being pulled in. The random force field immediately disappeared, and Flash was able to scout the ship.
