Thunderstorm Hideout

Summary:

Every time thunder roars through the night, Jungwon’s worst fear comes alive. The only place he feels safe is in Jay’s bed — trembling, seeking warmth, and hiding his sensitive cat ears against his roommate’s chest. Jay never turns him away. As storms grow fiercer, so does the comfort between them, until one night Jay’s protection turns into something deeper, warmer, and undeniably intimate.

Work Text:

The apartment was quiet except for the low hum of the refrigerator and the distant rumble growing louder outside. Rain had been pattering against the windows for hours, but now it lashed violently, driven by fierce winds. Another storm. The third one this week.

Jungwon hated storms.

He lay curled in his bed, knees drawn tight to his chest, fluffy black cat ears flattened against his dark hair. The sensitive tips twitched at every sound. His tail, usually graceful and expressive, was tucked between his legs, trembling. At twenty-two years old, he should’ve outgrown this fear. But the thunder always dragged him back to being six years old, alone in a dark house while his parents worked night shifts, lightning cracking like the world was splitting open.

A low growl of thunder rolled in the distance. Jungwon’s breath hitched.

It’s fine. It’s just noise. Just noise.

Then it came — a deafening crack, sharp and explosive, shaking the windows. The flash of lightning illuminated his entire room in blinding white for a split second.

Jungwon bolted upright with a broken whimper, heart hammering against his ribs. His ears pinned flat, tail lashing in panic. Without thinking, his body moved on pure instinct.

Bare feet padded quickly across the wooden floor. He didn’t even grab a hoodie. Dressed only in an oversized black t-shirt and soft gray shorts, he sprinted down the short hallway toward the only place he ever felt safe.

Jay’s room.

The door was slightly ajar, just like always. Jungwon didn’t knock. He pushed it open and slipped inside like a shadow, the storm roaring behind him.

Jay was already stirring, woken by the loud thunder. He blinked sleepily, propping himself up on one elbow. His dark hair was messy, broad shoulders bare under the thin blanket. The moment he saw the small, trembling figure rushing toward his bed, his eyes sharpened with concern.

“Won?” Jay’s voice was rough with sleep but gentle.

Another thunderclap exploded outside, louder than the last. Jungwon let out a frightened sound — half sob, half mewl — and leaped onto the mattress. He dove straight under the covers, pressing his entire body against Jay’s warmth, burying his face in the older man’s broad chest. His cat ears brushed against Jay’s collarbone as he tried desperately to hide them.

Jay didn’t hesitate.

He wrapped his strong arms around the smaller hybrid immediately, pulling Jungwon flush against him. One large hand slid up to cup the back of Jungwon’s head, while the other gently covered both of his sensitive cat ears, pressing them down protectively. The size difference between them was stark — Jay’s hands were big enough to almost completely muffle the terrifying sounds from outside.

“Shh, I’ve got you,” Jay murmured, voice low and steady. His breath warmed the top of Jungwon’s head. “I’m right here, baby. Nothing’s going to hurt you.”

Jungwon shivered violently, fingers clutching at Jay’s sleep shirt like it was a lifeline. His tail curled around Jay’s thigh instinctively, seeking more contact. Every muscle in his small body was tense, coiled tight with fear.

The thunder roared again. Jungwon flinched hard, a soft, broken whimper escaping his throat. Jay responded instantly by tightening his embrace and pressing his palms more firmly over the trembling cat ears.

“You’re safe,” Jay whispered, lips brushing against Jungwon’s forehead. “Listen to my voice, okay? Just me. The storm can’t reach you here. I won’t let it.”

Jungwon nodded weakly against his chest, nuzzling closer. The steady thump of Jay’s heartbeat under his ear was the only thing keeping him grounded. Jay smelled like warm cedarwood and faint laundry detergent — familiar, comforting, safe.

They stayed like that for long minutes. Jay never loosened his hold. His thumb gently stroked behind one of Jungwon’s ears in slow, soothing circles, even while keeping them covered. The simple touch helped ease some of the tension in Jungwon’s shoulders.

“You’re doing so well,” Jay continued softly, his deep voice a constant anchor. “Just breathe with me. In… and out. That’s it, good boy.”

Jungwon’s breathing gradually slowed, though small tremors still ran through him every time thunder rumbled. He felt pathetic — a grown hybrid running to his roommate’s bed like a scared kitten — but Jay never made him feel that way. Not once.

Another particularly violent crack of lightning and thunder hit, shaking the walls. Jungwon’s ears twitched desperately under Jay’s palms. A quiet sob slipped out.

Jay shifted them slightly, rolling onto his back and pulling Jungwon fully on top of him. He arranged the blankets around them like a cocoon, creating a dark, warm sanctuary. Both of his hands returned to covering Jungwon’s ears completely, fingers gentle but firm.

“I’m not going anywhere,” Jay promised, voice barely above a whisper. “You can stay here all night. As long as you need.”

Jungwon’s tail wrapped tighter around Jay’s leg. He dared to lift his head just enough to peek up at Jay’s face. Their eyes met in the dim light filtering through the curtains.

“Jay-hyung…” Jungwon’s voice was small and hoarse. “I’m sorry for… barging in again.”

“Don’t apologize.” Jay’s gaze was soft but intense. One hand left Jungwon’s ear briefly to brush damp strands of hair from his forehead. “I told you before. My door is always open for you. Especially on nights like this.”

Jungwon searched his face for any sign of annoyance and found none. Only warmth. Only patience. Only something deeper that made his stomach flutter even through the fear.

He lowered his head again, pressing his cheek against Jay’s firm chest. The older man’s heartbeat was steady, strong, and reassuring. Slowly, the terror began to ebb away, replaced by overwhelming exhaustion and a bone-deep sense of safety.

Jay continued murmuring soft reassurances — nonsense words, quiet praises, gentle reminders that he was protected. His hands never left Jungwon’s ears for long, alternating between covering them and gently massaging the sensitive bases to help them relax.

Outside, the storm raged on, rain slamming against the windows like it wanted to break in. But inside Jay’s bed, wrapped in strong arms and shielded by a broad chest, Jungwon felt untouchable.

Time blurred. Jungwon didn’t know when his trembling stopped completely. He only knew that at some point, his body grew heavy with sleep. His breathing evened out. His tail stopped lashing and rested calmly curled around Jay’s waist.

Jay stayed awake longer, listening to the storm slowly fade while holding the precious hybrid in his arms. His heart felt strangely full. This wasn’t the first time Jungwon had come to him during a storm, but tonight felt different. The way Jungwon had run straight to him without hesitation. The complete trust in how he’d buried himself against Jay’s body.

It stirred something protective and possessive deep inside Jay’s chest.

He pressed a feather-light kiss to the top of Jungwon’s head, careful not to wake him. “Sleep well, kitten,” he whispered. “I’ve got you.”

The storm continued outside, but inside the quiet room, two bodies remained tangled together under the blankets. Jungwon’s cat ears finally relaxed, twitching only occasionally. His face looked peaceful for the first time that night, safe in the shelter of Jay’s embrace.

And as Jay finally closed his eyes, one arm still securely wrapped around the smaller man, he realized something important. He never wanted Jungwon to face another storm alone.

——

The rainy season had arrived with a vengeance. For the past ten days, the city had been battered by near-nightly storms. Thunder rolled like distant cannons, lightning split the sky, and heavy rain turned the streets into rivers. Jungwon’s fear, once manageable, had become a nightly battle.

And every night, without fail, he ended up in Jay’s bed.

It started small. The second storm came two nights after the first. Jungwon tried to fight it — he buried himself under his own blankets, tail wrapped tightly around his body, ears pressed flat with noise-canceling headphones. But when a thunderclap shook the entire apartment building, he broke. He ran down the hallway again, heart pounding, and slipped into Jay’s room like a frightened shadow.

Jay had been waiting.

This time, he didn’t say anything. He simply lifted the blanket and opened his arms. Jungwon climbed in without hesitation, pressing his trembling body against Jay’s warmth, face buried in the crook of his neck.

“You’re okay,” Jay whispered, instantly covering both of Jungwon’s cat ears with his large hands. “I’m here.”

By the fourth storm, a pattern had formed.

Jay began preparing. On his bedside table now sat a small arsenal: thick noise-canceling earplugs, a heavier comforter, a dimmed warm lamp that cast a soft amber glow, and even a weighted blanket Jungwon seemed to like. He started leaving his door wide open every night before bed — a silent invitation.

Tonight was the worst so far.

The storm was merciless. Rain hammered the windows like bullets. Thunder cracked so violently that the glass vibrated. Jungwon lasted only twenty minutes in his own room before panic won.

He burst into Jay’s bedroom, breathing fast and shallow. His black cat ears were pinned so tightly against his skull they almost disappeared in his hair. His tail flicked erratically behind him.

“Hyung…” His voice cracked.

Jay was already sitting up, back against the headboard. He wore only dark sweatpants, his toned upper body exposed. Without a word, he opened his arms wide.

Jungwon didn’t walk — he practically launched himself onto the bed, crawling straight into Jay’s lap and curling into a tight ball against his chest. A broken sob escaped him as thunder roared again.

Jay reacted instantly. He wrapped his strong arms around the smaller hybrid, pulling him impossibly closer. One hand cradled the back of Jungwon’s head while the other gently but firmly covered his sensitive cat ears.

“Easy, kitten,” Jay murmured, lips brushing the top of Jungwon’s head. “I’ve got you. Let it all out. I’m right here.”

Jungwon’s body shook uncontrollably. He pressed his face harder into Jay’s bare chest, inhaling the comforting scent of warm skin and faint cologne. His tail instinctively wrapped around Jay’s waist, seeking more anchor.

Jay adjusted their position, lying down fully and pulling the heavy weighted blanket over them both, creating a dark, safe cocoon. He kept both hands over Jungwon’s ears, thumbs gently massaging the tense bases in slow, soothing circles.

“You’re safe,” Jay repeated like a mantra, voice deep and steady. “The storm is outside. You’re inside with me. Nothing can touch you here.”

Minutes passed. Jungwon’s breathing slowly evened out, but small whimpers still slipped out every time thunder boomed. Jay never stopped touching him — one hand on his ears, the other rubbing slow, comforting strokes up and down his spine.

“You’ve been coming here every night,” Jay said softly after a while, trying to distract him. “Not that I mind. Not at all.”

Jungwon stiffened slightly. “I’m sorry… I keep bothering you. You must be so tired.”

“Hey.” Jay tilted Jungwon’s chin up gently with one finger, forcing their eyes to meet. “Look at me. I don’t feel bothered. I feel needed. There’s a difference.”

Jungwon’s cat ears twitched under Jay’s palm, still anxious. His eyes were glassy with unshed tears. “But… you work early. And I keep waking you up. I’m such a burden—”

Thunder cracked violently outside, cutting him off. Jungwon flinched hard, a frightened mewl escaping his throat as he tried to bury himself deeper into Jay’s body.

Jay reacted immediately. He rolled them so Jungwon was lying completely on top of him, chest to chest, legs tangled. He wrapped both arms around the hybrid’s smaller frame and pressed Jungwon’s head firmly against his collarbone, covering his ears again with steady hands.

“You are not a burden,” Jay said firmly, lips moving against Jungwon’s hair. “You’re important to me, Jungwon. More than you know. If running to me makes you feel safer, then run to me every single night. I’ll always open my arms.”

Jungwon let out a shaky breath, his fingers curling into Jay’s skin. The warmth of Jay’s body, the steady heartbeat under his ear, and the protective way Jay held him slowly melted the terror away.

After nearly half an hour, the worst of the storm began to pass. Jungwon’s trembling had reduced to occasional shivers. His tail had relaxed, now loosely curled around Jay’s thigh.

Jay continued the gentle massage behind Jungwon’s ears, fingers working the tension out of the sensitive cartilage. “Does this help?” he asked quietly.

Jungwon nodded, a soft, involuntary purr rumbling in his chest. He immediately blushed and tried to hide his face.

Jay chuckled warmly. “Don’t hide it. I like that sound.”

The atmosphere in the room had shifted. What started as pure fear and comfort was slowly becoming something more intimate. Jungwon was hyper-aware of how closely they were pressed together — Jay’s bare chest against his cheek, strong thighs beneath him, big hands still cradling his head.

“You’re warm…” Jungwon whispered, almost shyly.

Jay’s hand slid from Jungwon’s ear down to his back, rubbing slow circles. “And you’re freezing. Come closer.”

He pulled the blankets tighter around them and adjusted Jungwon higher so their faces were closer. Jungwon’s breath brushed against Jay’s neck. The older man’s heartbeat had picked up slightly, though his voice remained calm.

“Tell me something,” Jay said softly, still trying to distract him as another rumble of thunder sounded. “What do you want to do when the rainy season ends? Anywhere you want to go?”

Jungwon thought for a moment, voice muffled against Jay’s skin. “The beach… at night. When it’s quiet and the stars are out. No thunder. Just waves.”

Jay smiled. “Then we’ll go. You, me, and a blanket on the sand. I’ll even let you hide under my hoodie if you get cold.”

A small smile tugged at Jungwon’s lips for the first time that night. He nuzzled closer, one hand resting on Jay’s firm chest. The trust between them had deepened with every storm. Jungwon no longer questioned whether he was welcome — he simply came, and Jay simply held him.

As the storm finally began to die down, Jungwon’s body grew heavy with exhaustion. His cat ears, no longer pinned flat, relaxed under Jay’s gentle fingers. His tail gave one last lazy flick before settling.

“Stay,” Jay whispered when he felt Jungwon drifting off. “Don’t go back to your room tonight.”

Jungwon didn’t protest. He simply nodded, already half-asleep, safe and warm in the only place that could silence his fears.

Jay stayed awake longer, staring at the ceiling while listening to the softening rain. His arms remained locked around the precious hybrid in his hold. The weight of Jungwon on top of him felt right. Natural.

And dangerous.

Because every time Jungwon sought shelter in his bed, Jay found it harder to ignore how perfectly the younger man fit against him. How his protective instincts flared into something deeper, hotter, and more possessive.

He pressed another soft kiss to Jungwon’s forehead.

“Sleep, kitten,” he murmured. “I’ll keep the storms away.”

Outside, the rain continued to fall. Inside, two bodies remained tangled together — one seeking safety, the other giving it without question.

And with every passing storm, the line between comfort and longing blurred just a little more.

——

The storm that night was apocalyptic. It had been building all evening — thick, heavy air, unnatural silence, then the sudden violent unleashing. Rain pounded the windows like it wanted to shatter them. Wind howled through the gaps in the building. And the thunder… the thunder was merciless. It didn’t roll. It exploded.

Jungwon lasted eight minutes in his own room.

He woke up screaming.

A deafening crack of thunder shook the entire apartment, followed immediately by blinding lightning. Jungwon’s cat ears flattened so hard they hurt. His heart slammed against his ribcage as pure, primal terror took over. He couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t think. His body moved on pure survival instinct.

He stumbled out of bed, legs shaking, and ran.

The hallway felt endless. Another thunderclap hit just as he reached Jay’s door, so loud it rattled the frame. Jungwon let out a broken, terrified sob and practically fell into the room.

“Jay— hyung—!”

Jay was already awake, sitting up instantly the moment he heard the desperate voice. The sight before him made his chest tighten painfully.

Jungwon stood in the doorway, trembling violently. Tears were already streaming down his flushed cheeks. His black cat ears were pressed flat against his skull, tail tucked tightly between his legs, and his breathing was rapid and shallow — bordering on hyperventilation.

“Jungwon,” Jay said, voice urgent but steady. He threw the blanket aside and stood up.

The next thunderclap was even louder. Jungwon cried out, hands flying up to cover his own ears as his knees buckled.

Jay moved fast.

In two long strides he reached Jungwon, scooping the smaller hybrid into his arms without hesitation. One arm supported Jungwon’s back, the other hooked under his knees. Jungwon instantly clung to him like a lifeline, arms wrapping tightly around Jay’s neck, face buried in his shoulder.

“I’ve got you,” Jay murmured, already walking back toward the bed. “I’ve got you, baby. Hold on to me.”

He sat down on the edge of the mattress first, then carefully lay back, keeping Jungwon securely on top of him. The position was full body contact — chest to chest, legs tangled, Jay’s strong arms wrapped completely around the trembling hybrid.

Thunder roared again. Jungwon jerked violently in his arms, a choked sob tearing from his throat. His breathing became frantic, wheezing.

“Jay— can’t— breathe—” he gasped, panic attack in full force.

Jay reacted immediately. He rolled them onto their sides, facing each other, and pulled Jungwon impossibly closer. One of his large hands gently but firmly covered both of Jungwon’s cat ears, pressing them down. The other hand cupped the back of Jungwon’s neck, thumb stroking soothingly.

“Look at me,” Jay commanded softly but firmly. “Eyes on me, kitten. Breathe with me. In… slow… and out.”

Jungwon tried, but another loud thunderclap made him whimper and curl tighter into Jay’s chest. His entire body was shaking uncontrollably. Tears soaked through Jay’s shirt.

Jay didn’t let go. He kept one hand shielding Jungwon’s sensitive ears while the other rubbed firm, grounding strokes up and down Jungwon’s spine. He tucked Jungwon’s head under his chin, surrounding him completely with his larger body.

“You’re safe,” Jay whispered repeatedly, lips brushing against Jungwon’s hair. “You’re in my arms. The storm can’t touch you. I won’t let it. I’m right here.”

It took nearly fifteen agonizing minutes for Jungwon’s breathing to slow from panicked gasps to shaky inhales. His tail finally loosened its death grip around his own leg and hesitantly wrapped around Jay’s calf instead.

“I’m sorry…” Jungwon whispered hoarsely, voice muffled against Jay’s chest. “I’m so pathetic… I can’t even—”

“Stop.” Jay’s voice was gentle but left no room for argument. He pulled back just enough to look at Jungwon’s tear-streaked face. “You are not pathetic. You’re terrified, and you came to me. That’s brave, Jungwon.”

Jungwon’s cat ears twitched weakly under Jay’s palm. Fresh tears slipped down his cheeks. The storm continued raging outside, but inside Jay’s embrace, the world felt slightly less terrifying.

“I… I’ve always been like this,” Jungwon confessed in a small, broken voice. “When I was six… my parents had to work night shifts. They left me alone during a storm like this. The power went out. I hid under the table for hours, crying. The thunder sounded like the house was breaking apart. No one came.”

Jay’s heart clenched. His arms tightened around Jungwon instinctively.

“I’ve been scared of thunder ever since,” Jungwon continued, voice cracking. “I thought I could handle it as I got older, but… it never went away. And now I keep running to you like a scared little kid. I hate being this weak.”

Jay cupped Jungwon’s wet cheek with one hand, thumb gently wiping away tears. His dark eyes were intense, full of emotion.

“You’re not weak,” he said fiercely. “You’re surviving something that traumatized you. And trusting me enough to come to me every time? That’s not weakness, Jungwon. That’s the biggest compliment you could ever give me.”

Jungwon stared up at him, eyes wide and vulnerable. Another rumble of thunder made him flinch, but Jay was there instantly — pulling him closer, covering his ears again, pressing their foreheads together.

“I don’t want you to face this alone anymore,” Jay whispered. “I want to be the one who protects you. Every storm. Every fear. Let me.”

The air between them grew thick. Jungwon’s breath trembled against Jay’s lips. Their faces were so close now. Jay’s hand slid from Jungwon’s ear to gently cradle the side of his face.

“Jungwon…” Jay breathed.

Jungwon didn’t pull away.

Jay closed the distance slowly, giving him every chance to stop. When their lips finally met, it was soft, careful, and full of everything they hadn’t said yet. A gentle press that quickly deepened as Jungwon melted into it with a quiet, needy sound.

Jay kissed him like he was something precious. Slow. Reverent. His hand stayed on Jungwon’s cheek while the other kept shielding one of his cat ears from the storm outside. Jungwon kissed back hesitantly at first, then with more desperation, fingers curling into Jay’s shirt.

When they parted, both were breathing harder. Jungwon’s cheeks were flushed, eyes glassy for an entirely different reason now.

“I’ve wanted to do that for weeks,” Jay admitted, voice rough. “Every time you came running into my bed, trusting me completely… it got harder to pretend I only wanted to comfort you.”

Jungwon hid his burning face in Jay’s neck, a shy but relieved purr vibrating in his chest. “I feel safe with you,” he whispered. “Only with you.”

Jay smiled softly and pressed a kiss to the top of Jungwon’s head, then to the sensitive spot behind one ear. “Then stay with me. Not just during storms. Every night. Let me take care of you properly.”

Thunder cracked again, but this time Jungwon only tensed briefly before relaxing back into Jay’s embrace. The fear was still there, but it no longer consumed him. Not when Jay was holding him like this — protective, warm, and now something more.

Jay pulled the blankets higher, wrapping them both in a cocoon of safety. He continued the gentle ear massage, alternating with soft kisses along Jungwon’s temple and cheeks.

“Sleep, kitten,” Jay murmured. “I’ve got you. I’m not letting go.”

Jungwon nodded, exhaustion finally winning. His body grew heavy against Jay’s. His tail curled contentedly around Jay’s waist. The storm continued its fury outside, but inside the room, everything felt different.

The walls had finally broken.

And what lay between them now was no longer just comfort.

It was the beginning of something deeper. Something real.

As Jungwon drifted off, safe in Jay’s arms with their first kiss still lingering on his lips, he realized he had never felt more protected in his entire life.

And Jay, lying awake a little longer, holding the precious cat hybrid against his heart, made a silent promise.

He would be Jungwon’s shelter. From every storm — inside and out.

——

The days after their first kiss passed in a gentle haze of something new and delicate.

What started as storm-driven comfort had quietly transformed into something undeniably romantic. Jungwon no longer waited for thunder to justify slipping into Jay’s bed. Some nights he would simply appear at Jay’s doorway with shy eyes, ears slightly lowered, and whisper, “Can I sleep here tonight?” Jay always answered by opening his arms wide.

Tonight was one of those quiet nights.

No storm. Just a heavy, lingering anxiety that had followed Jungwon home from work. He had been jumpy all evening, ears twitching at every loud sound from the street. After dinner, he didn’t even pretend to go to his own room. He walked straight into Jay’s bedroom wearing one of Jay’s oversized hoodies that swallowed his smaller frame, the sleeves falling past his hands.

Jay looked up from his book, a soft smile spreading across his face. “Rough day?”

Jungwon nodded, crawling onto the bed and immediately curling into Jay’s side. His tail wrapped around Jay’s waist as he pressed his face into the older man’s chest.

Jay set the book aside without hesitation. He wrapped one strong arm around Jungwon, pulling him closer, while his other hand gently stroked the soft black cat ears. “You don’t have to explain. Just come to me.”

This had become their new normal. Jungwon seeking Jay’s warmth not only when terrified, but whenever the world felt too loud or heavy. And Jay welcomed him every single time, his protective instincts growing stronger with each passing day.

The next morning brought one of their favorite new routines.

“Stay still,” Jay murmured, standing behind Jungwon in the bathroom. The mirror was slightly fogged from the warm shower they had just shared. Jungwon stood wrapped in a large towel, ears damp and drooping.

Jay carefully dried Jungwon’s cat ears with a soft microfiber towel, his movements gentle and thorough. He knew how sensitive they were — especially after getting wet. His large hands cupped each ear, patting and stroking with care until they fluffed up again.

Jungwon purred softly, eyes half-closed in contentment. “You’re really good at that…”

Jay chuckled, leaning down to press a kiss behind one ear. “I’ve had a lot of practice lately.” His hands slid down to Jungwon’s waist, pulling the smaller hybrid back against his chest. “I like taking care of you.”

The possessiveness in Jay’s tone was becoming more obvious. He had started touching Jungwon more — a hand on the lower back when they walked, an arm around his shoulders on the couch, fingers brushing his tail absentmindedly. Jungwon didn’t mind. In fact, he craved it.

Later that afternoon, while they were watching a movie on the couch, Jungwon grew restless again. A distant rumble of thunder sounded far away — nowhere near dangerous, but enough to make his ears twitch anxiously.

Jay noticed immediately.

“Come here,” he said, tugging Jungwon onto his lap. He arranged the hybrid so he was straddling him, chest to chest. Jungwon buried his face in Jay’s neck, arms wrapped tightly around his shoulders.

“I’m sorry,” Jungwon mumbled. “It’s not even a real storm yet… I shouldn’t be this clingy.”

Jay’s hands settled on Jungwon’s hips, squeezing gently. “I like when you’re clingy,” he admitted, voice lower than usual. “Means I get to hold you like this.”

The air between them thickened. Jungwon could feel the heat radiating from Jay’s body. He shifted slightly in Jay’s lap and froze when he felt the growing hardness beneath him.

Jay’s breath hitched. His grip on Jungwon’s hips tightened.

“Jungwon…” His voice was strained, warning and longing mixed together. “You keep moving like that and I’m going to have a hard time staying gentle.”

Jungwon’s ears flicked. A shy but curious flush crept up his neck. He didn’t pull away. Instead, he pressed closer, letting his tail curl around Jay’s arm.

“Maybe… I don’t want you to stay gentle tonight,” he whispered, barely audible.

Jay groaned softly, forehead dropping against Jungwon’s shoulder. “Don’t tempt me, kitten. You’re still recovering from last night’s anxiety. I don’t want to rush you.”

But the tension kept building over the next few days.

Jay became even more protective. When Jungwon had to work late, Jay would pick him up. When they cooked together, Jay would stand behind him, arms around his waist, helping guide his hands. Every night, Jungwon slept in Jay’s bed, their bodies tangled together. Jay’s hands would roam — never crossing lines, but getting closer each time. Stroking Jungwon’s tail, tracing the sensitive spot where his ears met his hair, gripping his waist with barely contained hunger.

The storm finally arrived again on Friday night.

It was a strong one. Not as terrifying as the night Jungwon had his panic attack, but loud enough to make the windows rattle. Jungwon woke up gasping, immediately crawling on top of Jay and hiding against his chest.

Jay was awake in seconds. His arms locked around Jungwon automatically, one hand covering the trembling cat ears.

“I’m here,” Jay soothed, voice deep and steady. “Just breathe, baby.”

But this time, Jungwon didn’t only seek comfort.

After a few minutes, when the worst of the thunder passed, Jungwon lifted his head. His eyes were dark, pupils blown wide. He looked vulnerable and needy at the same time.

“Jay-hyung…” he whispered, voice shaky but determined. “I don’t want just holding tonight.”

Jay’s breath caught. His hands stilled on Jungwon’s back. “Are you sure?”

Jungwon nodded, leaning down to press a shy but eager kiss on Jay’s lips. “I feel safe with you. I want… more. Please.”

That was all Jay needed.

He flipped them carefully, hovering over Jungwon while still keeping most of his weight off the smaller body. The kiss deepened quickly, turning hungry. Jay poured weeks of restrained desire into it — the nights of holding Jungwon through storms, the trust, the longing.

“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted this,” Jay growled softly against Jungwon’s mouth. His hand slid under Jungwon’s shirt, stroking the soft skin of his stomach. “Wanted to touch you like this. Wanted to make you feel good.”

Jungwon whimpered, arching into the touch. His cat ears trembled. “Then touch me. I’m yours.”

Jay took his time.

He kissed down Jungwon’s neck, sucking gentle marks into the sensitive skin. His hands explored — mapping every curve, every spot that made Jungwon gasp or purr. When he reached the base of Jungwon’s tail, he stroked it slowly, knowing how sensitive it was. Jungwon moaned, hips bucking up instinctively.

“Jay— please…”

Jay pulled back just enough to look into Jungwon’s eyes. “We go slow. I want to take care of you properly.”

He undressed Jungwon with reverent hands, kissing every new inch of skin revealed. When Jungwon was fully bare beneath him, flushed and breathing hard, Jay worshipped him — lips on his chest, stomach, inner thighs. His hand wrapped around Jungwon’s cock, stroking him with slow, firm movements while his mouth continued its exploration.

Jungwon was a mess of whimpers and soft mewls, fingers tangled in Jay’s hair. His tail flicked wildly against the sheets.

When Jay finally prepared him, it was with gentle, patient fingers and plenty of lube. He whispered praises the entire time — “So good for me,” “So beautiful,” “My perfect kitten.”

By the time Jay pushed inside, slow and careful, both of them were trembling with need. Jungwon gasped at the fullness, nails digging into Jay’s shoulders. Jay stayed still for a long moment, buried deep, forehead pressed against Jungwon’s.

“Mine,” Jay whispered possessively. “You’re mine now.”

Then he began to move — deep, rolling thrusts that made Jungwon cry out in pleasure. Jay kept one hand covering Jungwon’s ear as distant thunder still rumbled outside, protecting him even while making love to him.

Their bodies moved together in perfect rhythm. Jay’s thrusts were steady and deep, hitting every sensitive spot while his hand stroked Jungwon between them. The room filled with the sounds of skin meeting skin, soft moans, and whispered names.

Jungwon came first with a broken cry, clenching tightly around Jay as pleasure crashed through him. Jay followed soon after, burying himself deep and groaning Jungwon’s name as he filled him.

Afterward, Jay cleaned them both gently, then pulled Jungwon into his arms again. He pressed soft kisses all over Jungwon’s face — his forehead, cheeks, nose, and finally his lips.

“You okay?” Jay asked, voice soft with concern.

Jungwon nodded, purring contentedly as he nuzzled into Jay’s chest. “More than okay. I feel… safe. And loved.”

Jay smiled, tightening his arms around him. “Good. Because I’m never letting you go. Not during storms. Not ever.”

Outside, the storm slowly faded away.

Inside, Jungwon slept peacefully in Jay’s embrace — no longer just seeking shelter, but finding home.

——

The final storm of the season was unlike anything the city had seen in years. It arrived after midnight with apocalyptic force. The sky cracked open violently, thunder roaring like an angry beast. Lightning flashed so brightly it turned night into day for split seconds. Then, without warning, the power went out. The entire apartment plunged into complete darkness except for the violent flashes illuminating the rooms through the windows.

Jungwon had never been more terrified in his life.

He woke up screaming, body drenched in cold sweat. The absence of light made everything worse — the thunder sounded louder, closer, more personal. His cat ears flattened painfully against his skull. His tail thrashed wildly. His chest tightened so severely he could barely breathe.

“Jay—!” he cried out, voice breaking as he stumbled out of bed in the pitch black.

Another earth-shattering thunderclap hit, shaking the walls. Jungwon whimpered brokenly and ran blindly toward Jay’s room, hands outstretched, heart pounding in pure terror.

The door was already open.

Jay met him halfway. Strong arms caught him in the darkness, lifting him off the ground instantly. Jungwon clung to him desperately, legs wrapping around Jay’s waist, arms locked around his neck, face buried in his shoulder as violent sobs wracked his small body.

“Jay… hyung… it’s so dark— the thunder— I can’t—”

“I know, baby. I’ve got you,” Jay said, voice deep and steady despite the chaos outside. He carried Jungwon back to the bed with ease, navigating the darkness with confidence. Lightning flashed again, revealing Jungwon’s tear-streaked face and trembling ears.

Jay laid him down gently but quickly covered Jungwon’s entire body with his own, creating a protective cage of warmth and muscle. One hand immediately covered both of Jungwon’s sensitive cat ears, pressing them down firmly. The other arm wrapped around Jungwon’s waist, holding him impossibly close.

“Shh, kitten. Breathe. I’m right here,” Jay murmured against his ear, lips brushing the soft fur. “The dark can’t hurt you. I won’t let anything touch you.”

But the storm was relentless. Thunder exploded again and again. Without electricity, every sound felt amplified. Jungwon’s panic spiraled. He cried harder, body shaking uncontrollably, tail wrapping tightly around Jay’s thigh in desperation.

“I’m scared— Jay, I’m so scared—” he sobbed, fingers digging into Jay’s back.

Jay’s heart broke at the sound. He tightened his hold, pressing their bodies together until there was no space left between them. His larger frame completely enveloped Jungwon, shielding him from the world.

“Look at me,” Jay whispered. When lightning flashed, their eyes met. “You’re safe in my arms. This storm is nothing compared to how much I love you. Do you understand?”

Jungwon nodded weakly, tears still falling. Jay leaned down and kissed him — deep, slow, and full of reassurance. The kiss lasted long after the next thunderclap, Jay pouring every ounce of protection and love into it.

When they parted, Jungwon was still trembling, but his eyes had changed. Fear mixed with deep need.

“Make it go away, Jay,” he whispered, voice hoarse and vulnerable. “Please… I need you closer. I need to feel you.”

Jay searched his face carefully. “Are you sure? Even like this?”

“I’m sure,” Jungwon breathed, pulling him back down. “I only feel safe when you’re inside me.”

That was all Jay needed.

He kissed Jungwon again, slower this time, savoring every sound the hybrid made. His hands roamed with purpose — stroking Jungwon’s sides, tracing the sensitive base of his tail, gently massaging the tense cat ears that were still pinned flat with fear. Every touch was worship.

“You’re so beautiful,” Jay murmured against his neck, sucking soft marks into the pale skin. “Even when you’re scared. Especially when you’re scared. Because you trust me with all of you.”

He undressed Jungwon with reverent hands, kissing every inch he revealed. When Jungwon was bare beneath him, Jay spent long minutes worshipping his body — licking and kissing the sensitive spots behind his ears, down his chest, across his stomach, and along the length of his tail. Jungwon whimpered and purred, hips shifting restlessly.

Jay prepared him slowly, using more lube than necessary, stretching him with gentle fingers while whispering constant praises. “So good for me… So perfect… My brave kitten… Taking my fingers so well even when you’re scared.”

By the time Jay finally positioned himself, Jungwon was desperate, tears of overwhelming emotion and need mixing on his cheeks.

Jay pushed in slowly, inch by inch, groaning deeply at the tight heat. He kept one hand over Jungwon’s ear, shielding him from the thunder even as he made love to him. When he bottomed out, he stayed still, forehead pressed against Jungwon’s.

“Mine,” Jay growled softly, voice thick with emotion. “Every part of you is mine to protect. Mine to love.”

Then he began to move — deep, slow, rolling thrusts that made Jungwon moan brokenly with every stroke. The rhythm was gentle but possessive. Jay held Jungwon like he was something sacred, one hand still protecting his sensitive ears while the other intertwined their fingers above Jungwon’s head.

Thunder roared outside. Jungwon tensed, but Jay kissed him through it, swallowing the whimper and turning fear into pleasure. His thrusts never faltered — steady, deep, and loving.

“I love you,” Jay whispered between kisses, hips rolling perfectly against that sensitive spot inside Jungwon. “I love you so much. Let me take all your fear away.”

Jungwon cried out, legs wrapping tighter around Jay’s waist. “I love you too— Jay— ah— please don’t stop…”

Their bodies moved together in perfect harmony. Jay worshipped every sound, every tremble, every purr. He kissed Jungwon’s tears away, stroked his cock in time with his thrusts, and never once stopped shielding his ears from the storm.

When Jungwon finally came, it was with a shattered sob of pleasure, clenching tightly around Jay as his release spilled between them. Jay followed right after, burying himself as deep as possible and filling Jungwon with long, warm pulses, groaning his name like a prayer.

They stayed connected for a long time afterward.

Jay carefully cleaned them both in the darkness using a towel from the bedside drawer. Then he pulled Jungwon into his arms again, wrapping the blankets tightly around them. The storm was still raging, but it no longer mattered.

“I love you, Jungwon,” Jay whispered, pressing kisses to his temple and cat ears. “Not just when you’re scared. Every day. Every version of you.”

Jungwon purred softly, nuzzling into Jay’s chest. His ears had finally relaxed, twitching only occasionally. “I love you too. Thank you for always being my safe place.”

——

The next morning, sunlight streamed through the windows. The storm had passed. The power was back. Birds chirped outside as if nothing had happened.

Jungwon woke up slowly, warm and content. He was still wrapped securely in Jay’s arms, head resting on the older man’s chest. His cat ears were relaxed, tail curled peacefully around Jay’s leg.

Jay was already awake, fingers gently stroking through Jungwon’s hair.

“Good morning, kitten,” Jay said softly, smiling down at him.

Jungwon blushed but smiled back, ears twitching happily. “Morning…”

Jay tilted his chin up and kissed him — slow and sweet. When they parted, he rested their foreheads together.

“No more running from room to room,” Jay said gently. “Move into my room permanently. I want to wake up like this every day. I want to protect you every night. Not just during storms.”

Jungwon’s eyes shimmered with happy tears. He nodded without hesitation. “Yes. I want that too. I want to be yours completely.”

Jay’s smile widened. He pulled Jungwon closer, kissing the top of his head, then behind his ears, making the hybrid purr loudly.

The thunderstorm had brought them together in the most terrifying way. But in its aftermath, they had found something unbreakable — a love built on trust, protection, and the beautiful knowledge that no matter how loud the world became, they would always have each other.

Jungwon closed his eyes, safe in Jay’s arms as morning light bathed them both.

For the first time in his life, he wasn’t afraid of what tomorrow might bring.

Because his shelter — his home — was right here.

The End.
