Summary:

The gods tie a thread around your smallest finger before you are born. That thread is red, the color of blood, of passion, of the cord that binds a child to its mother. Its other end is tied to your soulmate—somewhere in the world, someone whose thread is knotted to yours. You cannot see it. You cannot feel it. Only when your soulmate speaks your true name for the first time, the string vibrates like a plucked harp string, and the sound it makes is the sound of your own heartbeat, heard from outside your body for the first time.

But in the eyes of the Church, a string tied by pagan gods is no string at all. It is a temptation. A pretty lie whispered by the devil to lead good vulnerable boys into the dark.

In the dark, it holds the only place two boys can love.

Happy Pride Month !!

This fic is written in honour of Pride Month.

Pride Month is an annual celebration in June to honour the LGBTQ+ community, commemorating their history, culture, and ongoing fight for equality. In an ever-changing world, I hope everyone will continue to support and love all members of the community. Although there has been an increase of representation in digital and physical media, I wish this fic serves as a reminder (even at a miniscule level) about the harsh realities that most people face, and unfortunately the ending of their stories aren’t always kind. Everybody lives differently, some more privileged than others. Just because you can’t see or hear them, it does not mean they don’t exist. If you are in a safe space of comfort with no restrictions, I hope you’re able to uplift the voices of those who were silenced, scared, and/or stripped. As someone who lives in a rather conservative country, I can only hope that the world will come to recognise us as human beings who deserve the same treatment as every other person.

We all bleed the same, we all live on the same planet, we all love.
