Work Text:
“My, that was simply delicious” Daigo exclaimed, wiping the corners of his mouth with a napkin “we ought to come here more often.”
“I’ll admit, my meal was quite exemplary.” His companion had wanted to go somewhere more ‘upscale’, stating that the ordinary little steakhouse in Kamurocho wouldn’t be up to their usual standard.
They hadn’t had much time for a break today, between meetings, paperwork, and yet another meeting scheduled for this afternoon, they’d had to make do with something local.
The pair were sitting in Kanrai, at one of the smaller tables in the corner of the room, their plates of meat having been demolished.
“Well I suppose we should head over to Club Asia, your meeting with the head of Kaitei Corp is in 20 minutes.” The man took his wallet out from his inside pocket and placed a large sum of bills on the table as he spoke.
“Urg, don’t remind me Mine!” He’d been dreading this particular meeting ever since it had been arranged, not only was it on a topic that he cared little about, but the client had wanted to meet in the gaudiest club in town.
If Mine hadn’t assured him that the income from investing into deep sea infrastructure would be well worth it, he wouldn’t even bother.
They made it all of 5 steps outside of the restaurant before being approached by a balding man in a singed white lab coat, that could only have looked more like a cliché mad science type if he’d worn a shock white frazzled wig.
“Excuse me sir, you would you spare a moment to help and old man out?” he approached them cautiously.
Mine walked right past the man without so much as a glance, but Daigo stopped in his path.
“What is it you need help with?” he asked.
“You see, I’ve just completed what is to date, my life’s greatest work – behold!” The man held out the device in his hands, it appeared to be a stripped down hairdryer, with several printed circuit boards and loose wires hanging from it.
“We don’t have time for this Chairman, the meeting.” Mine had doubled back to pull him away.
Mine was right, he really ought to be on his way.
“Oh please, it shan’t take but a moment my fine sirs, just a couple of clicks and it’s all done.” The old man proclaimed excitedly.
“Why can’t you bother someone else with your experiment? There are plenty of other people around here.” Mine argued.
“Ah well you see, I need someone fit, young, healthy, and strong for my experiment.”
Wait, so this old man had approached him looking for someone ‘fit and strong’?
Daigo couldn’t help but feel flattered by the comment, it was true that he had worked very hard to build up the muscle he currently had, but had been feeling a little deflated recently as working out was quite difficult to find time for now that he was Chairman of the Tojo clan.
He caught a glimpse of Mine huffing slightly at the explanation, was he jealous that the man had approached Daigo and not him?
“Sure I’ll help you out then, since it’ll only be a moment.” he answered without further consideration.
“Wonderful, wonderful, let’s just get out of this crowd first, alright?” the man seemed ecstatic.
“I really must advise against this course of action” Mine murmured lowly into his ear as the three of them made their way into the nearby parking lot.
“I’m sure it’ll be fine Mine, the guy said it’s his greatest work, and just look how old he is, he’s probably made tonnes of cool things in his time.” He knew that his logic was flawed, but he’d already agreed to help and he wasn’t going to back down now.
“Alright, make plenty of room” the scientist said, clearly indicating for Mine to step away “and hold still” he added, before pointing the device straight at Daigo.
In that moment, he realised that he probably should have asked what exactly the device that was being tested on him actually was, what it did, if it would hurt or not, and why exactly the test subject needed to be fit and strong.
“Here we go!” the man shouted.
A smoke-like blue wave of light emitted from the device, along with a quivering electronic noise.
Daigo felt a little heavier, and sort of cool, like someone had gently poured water over him. The feeling radiated down from his head all the way to the tips of his toes, it was sort of nice actually.
“A-ha! It worked! It worked, it worked it worked it worked!” the man was clearly overjoyed with whatever the results of his experiment had been, he was doing a little jig around the parking lot, holding his precious device up in the air and cheering.
Mine’s reaction however, had him worried.
He was standing, stark still and staring right at Daigo, his eyes were wide with shock and his mouth had fallen open.
He quickly snapped out of it, he grabbed the old man by the lapel of his coat and shook him.
“WHAT DID YOU DO OLD MAN, WHERE’S MY CHAIRMAN?” he shouted right in his face.
“What are you talking about Mine, I’m right here.” He called to him.
Mine instantly let go of the old man, and rushed over to him.
“You’re really still there?” he questioned, reaching his hand out and awkwardly catching his thumb on Daigo’s nose.
“Of course I’m here Mine, what are you blind?” he laughed.
“No Chairman, but you appear to be invisible.” It sounded like a joke, but Mine’s tone was deadly serious.
Invisible? Really? Completely?
Daigo looked down to inspect himself and found that he could not, for there was nothing to see.
“Wow! That’s incredible, I’m sure this invention of yours will make you and your descendants incredibly wealthy” he called to the old man, who had returned to his joyous dance.
“Yes, yes, it’s quite ingenious, now undo it!” Mine shouted, clearly upset at the ordeal.
The man stopped his excited movements.
“Ah yes of course, that won’t be an issue, stand back.” he said as he flicked a switch on the device and raised it toward Daigo’s position again “you haven’t moved right, I’m aiming right at you like before?” he asked.
“I’m still here, right in your crosshair.” Daigo replied.
The quivering electronic noise emitted from the device again, but no swirling light accompanied it this time.
Daigo didn’t feel any different, it was like nothing had happened at all.
Mine was glaring at the old man, his hands balled into fists and his face turning red with anger.
“Oh” the man looked saddened by the result.
“Oh? What do you mean ‘Oh?’, That’s not going to cut it old man, you better hop to and try again!” Mine raged.
So it hadn’t worked?
The man raised his machine and pulled the trigger again, but this time there was no sound as well as no light.
“I’m sorry son, but it looks like the batteries completely dead, I must have calculated the power usage improperly.” he explained.
“Well then get a new battery!”
“It’s not that simple, this battery cannot be swapped out for a new one, it has to be recharged.”
“And how long will that take?”
“Oh only about a day, don’t fret.”
Mine didn’t respond, the veins on his forehead popped to an extent that Daigo hadn’t known was possible.
He rushed over to his lieutenant and placed his hand on his shoulder.
“Breathe Mine” he stroked his hand down the firm back “It’ll be alright, we can meet here again tomorrow and get this reversed, isn’t that right uh-” he realised that he didn’t even know the name of the man he’d allowed to use an experimental invisibility gun on him.
“The name’s Sojiro, but you can call me Doc, everyone does.”
They arranged to meet ‘Doc’ in this parking lot again the next day at 1PM, which gave him a little over 24-hours to charge his device.
“Well, what do we do now?” he asked his advisor as the scientist departed.
“I’ll take you home, can’t have anyone seeing you like this… or not seeing you, as it were.” Mine had turned his head toward him, but hadn’t quite managed to look directly at him. “Come on, I’m parked here anyway.” The obnoxious gold sports car was on the other side of the small lot.
“What about the meeting?” He actually felt bad, Mine had really seemed to want to land this one.
“Re-schedule, I’ll make the call right now in fact.”
They walked toward the car, Mine went to one side and Daigo the other.
“Get in” Mine said as he held open the door on the end he’d walked to.
Daigo glanced inside the car.
“Oh… Why on earth do you have a left-hand-drive car?” he asked.
“It’s a nice car” Mine answered simply, as though that were all the reason he needed.
“There are nice cars from Japan too” Daigo huffed as he made his way around to the side where the driver usually sat, and climbed in.
Mine didn’t respond, he simply closed the door for him.
He watched as Mine whipped his phone out while walking to his own door, he stood outside for a moment while he made his call.
“So what did you say?” he asked as soon as the other man got into the drivers seat.
“I simply explained that you’ve suddenly come down with an inexplicable illness and requested that the meeting be postponed to next week, the client seemed a little put out, but he agreed once I upped our offer by a further 10%”
So his vanity had cost them a couple million yen? Now he felt bad.
“Put your seatbelt on.” It was more of a demand than a request, but he let it slide and buckled in.
It turned out, the car really was nice.
As Mine tore down the highway, weaving through traffic at high speed, Daigo almost regretted the lack of fun cars in his own collection.
He’d had a pretty nice little sports car of his own once, but that was a long time ago now.
They arrived at Daigo’s home much sooner than they would have if he’d allowed his usual driver to take him, which reminded him-
“I need to make some calls, dismiss my driver and security detail, they’re probably wondering where I’ve gotten to.”
“Don’t worry Chairman, I’ll handle everything.”
Mine got out of the car, walked over to Daigo’s side and opened the door for him, bowing as he did so.
“How many times must I ask you to call me Daigo?” he actually didn’t mind that Mine sometimes slipped back to his formal address while they were out together, something about it struck him as cute.
He entered his home, and turned in the doorway to his lieutenant.
“Thanks for everything Mine.” He felt guilty knowing that he’d likely caused the man a great deal of extra work “don’t stay up all night working on my account you hear, do something for yourself, relax, take a nice bath or something.”
“I will, thank you, Daigo.” the man bowed to the door way.
Mine had been halfway down the path to his car when a thought had jumped into Daigo’s brain.
This was his chance to see what Mine was like when he was at home, his one opportunity to observe how the man acted when he was completely alone.
He couldn’t pass it up.
He stepped back out of his home, closed the door behind him, and quietly as he could, snuck up the path behind his subordinate.
As soon as Mine opened the door to his car, Daigo realised his mission was impossible, there was no way to get in without being noticed.
But by some miracle he heard the faint clink of metal hitting stone.
Mine’s clan pin had fallen from it’s position on his lapel and rolled down the driveway, causing him to curse and follow it to where it stopped.
He thanked whatever deity had intervened on his behalf and got into the car, relived that it was a lot more spacious than it looked when he needed to climb over the centre console to get into the passenger seat.
Mine soon returned and got into his own side, he clicked the door shut and started the engine, but then he looked over to where Daigo was sitting, a confused look evident on his face.
Shit, had he made a noise? Did Mine know he was there?
Mine shook his head, smiling lightly, and drove out of the property.
He got his phone out and made a call while he was driving. Daigo hated seeing the man driving while distracted like this, but he couldn’t exactly say anything without giving himself away.
Turned out the phone call had been the one he’d just said he’d handle, the one dismissing Daigo’s personal team. He felt worse.
The drive was short, very short. They arrived at Mine’s home in just a few minutes after leaving Daigo’s own.
Wait, they were neighbours? For how long? How could he have not known this?
Now came the question of ‘how did he get back out of the car?’.
Mine had parked inside his home garage, there were a handful of other cars in the large room, some big, some small, one that looked like it might be an armoured vehicle, and a bright red sports car that may well have been the exact same make and model of the one he was sat in.
Lucky for him, his question was soon answered.
Mine had gotten out, but left his door wide open as he made quite the kerfuffle of getting his cigarettes out and lighting one up.
Mines shoulders dropped when he finally took that first draw.
It was nice seeing him untense like this for once.
The man made his way inside his home, Daigo was able to quickly sneak past him as he hung up his jacket and took off his shoes.
It felt wrong walking indoors with his shoes on, there had to be somewhere he could put them so that they wouldn’t get lost.
Once Mine had strode by him, he returned to the side entrance they’d come through a put his shoes right in the corner of the floor space, and folded his jacket as neatly as he could on top. He hoped they were out of the way enough that they wouldn’t end up getting stepped on or tripped over at any point.
He made his way to the end of the narrow hallway, and got his first look at his lieutenants home.
He was in a large open room, the floor plan for the living-kitchen area was much like his own home.
The furnishings and décor were vastly different though.
Mine had talked a little about his taste for western architecture and design, but Daigo would have never pictured this. His home looked more like something from one of those old English Gothic paintings.
There was deep mahogany wood everywhere. The bookshelves, coffee table, and high skirting boards surrounding the rooms. They contrasted nicely with the light cream walls and flooring.
The marble countertops in the kitchen looked like they didn’t see all that much use, there weren’t any pots or pans left out on the stovetop, no stains or visible grooves left on the cutting board. Nothing like the mess of Daigo’s own.
He wasn’t sure if that was because Mine was a bit of a clean-freak, or because the man simply didn’t like to cook.
The living area was dominated by a large deep grey corner sofa, Daigo ran his hand over the top of one of it’s cushions, and found that the fabric was a soft suede.
The coffee table in the middle had two tiers to it, there was nothing sitting on the top one, Mine obviously liked to keep the place presentable, but he could see that the shelf suspended below housed various magazines, a set of coasters, an ashtray, and a remote, most likely for the television in the corner.
He made his way over to the shelves to inspect the little trinkets that were dotted amongst the books. There weren’t many of them, so the things that Mine had put on display must mean a great deal to him.
There were some rather fragile looking glass ornaments in various shapes, he wasn’t sure what they were meant to be, if they were even meant to be anything. He decided not to touch them, he didn’t want to break anything.
Right in the centre shelf, set under a clear protective cube was- a pair of drinking glasses?
There didn’t seem to be anything special about them as far as he could tell, no markings, no cut crystal, no seals. They were just run-of-the-mill glasses that you could get for a hundred yen or so at any old store.
Confused, he leaned a little closer. The glasses appeared to be a little bit dirty, a slight smear of something fogged the rims.
‘What a strange man you are Mine.’
He crossed to the door on the other end, he had been about to turn the handle when a wave of nervousness rushed over him.
What if Mine could see this door from where he was right now?
Would he believe that it had simply opened on its own? He doubted that it was a normal occurrence… did Mine believe in ghosts?
Well after today, anything seemed possible.
He couldn’t back down now, he’d already come so far, he had to continue.
As slowly as he could, he eased the door open and slipped through.
The room he entered was a home office, which looked as though it could have been ripped directly from the one the owner had within his family office.
A set of leather armchairs sat around a low table in the centre of the room in front of him, behind which was a sleek dark wooden desk, which currently had loose papers scattered across it as the owner himself was currently pouring over them.
If he hadn’t been concentrating so hard on being as quiet as possible, Daigo would’ve sighed aloud, of course Mine was working.
Thankfully for him, the man had been so absorbed in the movement of his pen across the papers that he hadn’t noticed the door opening and closing.
He looked to be in his element, the light of the mid afternoon sun pouring in through the deep red blinds on the large windows behind him framed Mine in a bright, almost etherial glow.
He supposed he should allow the man to get some work done at least.
He sat down in one of the empty armchairs a little too fast, causing the leather to creek under his weight. He held his breath as his eyes immediately shot over to the working man.
So fast he wasn’t sure if he’d imagined it or not, Mine glanced up at the source of the noise.
But then he went straight back to his papers like nothing had happened.
He wasn’t sure how long he sat there, lazing back on the comfortable chair, his held tilted back onto the plush cushion behind him. He closed his eyes and just listened to the rhythmic scratching of Mine’s pen scrolling across his papers. There was something relaxing about it, he easily could’ve dozed off.
He felt the hollowness in his stomach just in time.
He shot up from where he was sitting and moved as far away from Mine as he could before the churning noise alerted the other to his presence.
He grasped his stomach, hoping that it would somehow dampen the sound.
He hadn’t even considered what he’d do about food when he’d decided to jump in the car, it didn’t seem like all that long ago they’d been enjoying their lunch in Kamurocho, but they had ordered smaller dishes, not wanting to stuff themselves with food before their scheduled meeting.
Should he try to sneak out and head back home?
He glanced up at Mine, who had stopped writing and was now gazing out at the room before him.
There’d be no way to get through the door without the man noticing.
Mine looked down at the watch on his wrist, making Daigo realise that the light coming through the window had dimmed considerably.
He’d like to know what time it was, but there were no clocks on the walls here, and even if he had been wearing a watch of his own, he wouldn’t be able to see it right now anyway.
Mine plucked his phone up from where it was sitting on his desk, flipped it open and dialled.
“Hello, I’d like to place an order” his voice carried easily over the room.
“2 extra large bowls of tonkotsu ramen” … “yes” … “bye”.
Seems like he wasn’t the only one that was hungry, Mine had ordered himself two bowls of ramen? Extra large ones at that?
He supposed the man must need a lot of calories given how well toned he liked to keep himself.
Daigo shook his head and berated himself internally for allowing his thoughts to slip.
He’d found himself noticing Mine a lot recently, the way one of the strands of his hair fell loose after a few drinks, how he sometimes thought he caught the outline of sock garters just pressing through the fabric of his slacks, the sharp dip of the man’s waistline under his tight shirt when he finally removed that buttoned up jacket…
He shook his head again and mentally slapped himself. He would’ve done it for real if he hadn’t still been in the same room as the man in question, who appeared to be taking a second glance at the papers he’d worked on today.
He was too hungry to be getting thirsty right now.
It wasn’t much later on that the chime of the doorbell sounded through the house.
When Mine got up from his desk to answer, Daigo followed his path.
“Here you are, Aniki.” The voice from behind the door was that of a cheerful young man, clearly a member of the Tojo Clan going by his use of ‘Aniki’.
“Thank you Zenba.” Mine said as he took the bag of food from the man at the door.
Daigo had heard of Zenba, he was one of the few members of the Nishikiyama family that had signed up to follow Mine into the Hakuho clan once it had been formed, but other than that, Daigo knew very little of the man.
Were he and Mine close? Were they friends? Something… more?
A cold spike of jealousy jammed itself in his gut.
He’d only once worked up the courage to ask Mine if he had someone in his love life, and he hadn’t answered, instead deciding to pick up his phone which had chosen that precise moment to start ringing.
He’d been so in his own head he’d ended up missing part of the conversation between the men, only catching a ‘have a good evening’ said by the younger man in a really quite suggestive tone.
He had to dive out of the way as Mine walked straight through where he had previously been standing.
He rushed to the kitchen area, knowing that the man had no reason to enter.
“Oh heavens, what was I thinking?” Mine said aloud to himself.
“I’m not nearly hungry enough for 2 of these mouthwatering tonkotsu ramen bowls, and I don’t even own a microwave, guess one of them will end up going straight in the trash then.”
‘What the hell kind of person doesn’t own a microwave?’ Daigo thought to himself, glancing around the kitchen to confirm that there was in fact, no microwave present.
“It’s such a shame, I really hate wasting food.” Mine continued, sighing to himself as he placed the extra portion down on the bartop style counter that was the border between the kitchen and living area, carefully setting the extra pair of chopsticks he’d been given on top.
Mine wandered over to the living area. He seemed to wipe something from one of the sofa cushions before turning and gracefully sitting down.
Daigo made himself comfortable on one of the high stools at the bar, finding himself leaning forward to watch as Mine stretched down to fish the remote from under the table.
His mouth was flooding with saliva, and not just because of the near irresistible smell of the ramen.
The spare bowl was right in front of him, Mine had clearly said that it was going to go to waste… there’d be no harm if he ate it, would there?
He told himself it was a stupid idea, even if the food was destined for the compost heap, it was hardly as if Mine wouldn’t notice that it had gone missing.
He leaned in a little closer to the smell, he could practically feel the heat coming from the container.
He could hide the evidence somehow? Put the container in the bin before Mine returned? Replace the food before the man went looking for it?
It was possible, it’s not like he’d be throwing it away while it was still piping hot…
His stomach churned again.
His mind was made up.
He slid the bowl over, took the chopsticks and lifted the lid off the container.
When the scent of the broth hit him, he could swear he’d never been so hungry in his life.
He gulped down the food, ignoring the fact that it was hot to the point that it was scalding his mouth slightly with every bite, it was worth it.
He hoped that that noise of the television was loud enough to drown out his slurping.
Once he finished, he carefully got up and disposed of the evidence, taking the care to separate the paper from the plastic.
He sat back down on his chair and looked over the room.
It appeared that Mine had also finished his meal, but rather than tidying up after himself straight away, he had elected to recline on the sofa, bringing his feet up to lay across it. He’d flicked the TV to a classic movie Daigo didn’t recognise.
He wished he could join him, more than anything in the world, Daigo wished he could walk over to that settee and plop himself down in the corner, wrap himself around Mine and enjoy the film.
Warm, happy, and content.
Great, now he’d made himself sad.
He tried not to think about his life too often, he knew he was better off than most.
But there were times where he felt like something was missing, times like now.
He wiped the tears forming in his eyes before they could spill over.
He had no right to complain.
Mine stood and stretched when the movie ended, the action causing the hem of his shirt to rid up and pull free from his slacks at the back.
He didn’t bother tucking it back in, he simply walked across the room and went back into his office.
‘Don’t tell me he’s going back to work now?’ Daigo thought to himself as he followed.
The sun had fully set in the sky while they’d been lounging, so the overhead lights were on when he entered the room.
Mine sat down at his desk, and started rifling through his papers once again.
‘I thought I asked you not to work all night’ Daigo thought as he shook his head.
Then, a really stupid idea occurred to him, one that would most certainly end up with him being found out, but if it convinced Mine to do something for himself for a change, it’d be worth it.
There was a large metal staircase in the corner of the room, Daigo climbed up to the top, putting as much distance between the two of them as he could before he put his plan into action.
He cupped his hands around his mouth “rreeelllaaaxxxxx” he murmured as gently as he could, adding a quiver to his voice like some sort of otherworldly being.
He could barely see the man at his desk from this vantage point, but through the metal railing he swore he could make out his ears twitching at the sound, but he didn’t move otherwise.
“A niceee hoooot baaatthhhhh” he tried again.
Mine put the papers in his hand down on the desk and looked toward the staircase he was crouching on, but he still didn’t move.
“Someeethinggg for yourseeellff” Daigo whispered one last time.
Finally, Mine stood from his chair, had it worked?
He strode across the room, right toward Daigo.
‘Shit, guess that was too much to get away with huh?’
He made himself as small as he could, pressing himself against the wall and holding his breath.
He’d been caught, he knew it, his idea had been dreadfully stupid after all.
Mine strolled up the large metal staircase, passed right by him and through the door at the top, which surely lead to his bedroom.
‘I wonder what Mine’s bedroom is like…?”
Once the thought occurred to him, it remained lodged in his brain; he wanted to know how the man had decorated the most intimate room in his home.
He moved slowly toward the door, it had been left ever-so-slightly ajar, which made things easier for him.
He felt slightly guilty about this, trespassing in the rest of Mine’s home was one thing, but this was different, it felt like crossing a line somehow.
‘I’ll just have a quick glance and get out!’ He told himself.
He eased open the door, thankful that it didn’t creek on it’s hinge.
He peered through the gap as soon as it was big enough.
The room was bathed in a warm orange glow from the sconce lights above the large western-style bed, the bars of it’s golden metal frame shone slightly.
There was two sets of mirrored doors on one side, broken up by a deep set bay window, the light fabric surrounding them swayed lightly from the breeze coming in.
The floor was dark, a criss-crossing pattern of gold lines ran throughout, and a large plush soft-looking rug sat at the end of the bed.
The room was nice, cosy in a way he hadn’t expected.
But, where had his lieutenant gotten to?
He pushed the door open and entered the room fully.
Now he could see another door that had been hidden from his previous viewpoint, taking a step closer allowed him to hear the sound of running water beyond.
Had his advisor decided to take a bath after all? He smiled.
Well, if Mine were taking a bath, that meant he had plenty of time to have a proper look around, didn’t it?
He walked over to the bed and gently ran his fingers over the pale red sheets. He wasn’t surprised to discover that they were made of silk, Mine always did enjoy the finer things.
The corner of a glossy magazine poked out from under the nightstand, was it something raunchy perhaps?
He pulled it out, but was disappointed to find that it was simply a recent copy of a men’s health magazine. Mine probably had a subscription.
He’d been about to pull the drawer open when he thought better of it.
He was already vastly overstepping many boundaries by being here, his friend deserved to have some privacy at least.
Instead, he crossed the room and headed to the mirrored wardrobe, and slid back the door.
He’d been expecting to find a swarm of the exact same brown pinstriped suit that the man loved so much, but was pleasantly surprised to find a lot of different clothes within.
Brightly coloured shirts, simple polos, a nice toffee check herringbone jacket, and even a couple of pairs of tight jeans.
He was honestly quite impressed by the variety, he certainly wouldn’t mind seeing the man wearing some of these items. Maybe he could hint that to him somehow when they next went out drinking together?
He’d been crouched down low, having just picked up a box from the corner of Mine’s shoe collection when he heard the door swinging open and clicking shut again.
He scrambled as fast as he could, practically throwing the box back where he’d found it and sliding the door closed.
He stared up at the man that had just exited the bathroom, he had nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist and was using another to dry his hair. The way he had his arms stretched up above his head accentuated the muscles on his torso and shoulders very nicely...
Good lord. Daigo’s heart started to race.
He let go of the breath he hadn’t realised he’d been holding.
It seemed like Mine was so busy drying his hair he hadn’t noticed anything wrong in his room.
Mine tossed the wet towel, at first Daigo had thought the man had been throwing it at him, but it landed neatly in the wicker basket in front of the window.
When his lieutenant reached for the towel around his body, Daigo had to turn his head away, but realising he could still see the man in the mirror that his face was nearly pressed against, he tightly shut his eyes too.
His breathing deepened as he heard the rustling of the fabric, the soft ‘thunk’ of it landing in the basket, followed by more, lighter rustling sounds, then the sound of a drawer opening and closing again.
He dared to open his eyes again a short while when the only sound that could be heard was Mine’s deep rhythmic breathing, and found that it was now much darker within.
Mine had turned down the lights above his bed, but not turned them off completely, was he in the habit of sleeping with them on?
The thought made Daigo smile.
He stood up carefully, and was instantly struck by the sight before him.
His friend had climbed into the middle of the bed, his loose damp hair was clinging lightly to his forehead.
He looked so peaceful, so soft, so beautiful…
It was time to get out of there before he crawled into the bed next to him.
He made it all of two steps toward the door when a low groan reached his ears, causing him to halt entirely.
Was he hearing what he thought he was hearing? Why else would Mine make a noise like that?
He knew he shouldn’t, but he was unable to stop himself from turning back toward the man in the bed.
The face that had looked so calm just a moment ago now wore an entirely different expression.
Mine’s mouth hung open as he panted lightly, the crease between his brow deepened, and his pale skin began to flush.
There was no mistaking it, Daigo didn’t even need to see the way the covers shifted around the movements of the man’s hand to confirm it.
He felt like his heart was beating so loud the other man way well hear it as his blood ran south.
Feeling the sudden need for more air, he loosened the tie around his neck, and undid hip top button for good measure.
This image of the man he longed for would be burned into his brain forever more.
But he still knew he should get out of here, it was going to be difficult enough to live with himself as it were, he shouldn’t stay any longer.
He marched toward the door, taking little care to dampen the sound of his footsteps, he had the door opened by an inch when another sound had him stopping and turning back again.
Mine had just- he’d said- there was no way right? He’d misheard him.
“Ch-chairman!” the pant came from the man’s lips again.
Daigo might never complain about Mine calling him that ever again.
Mine raised his knees and planted his feet on the mattress, it meant that Daigo could no longer make out the movements of the man’s hand.
But it didn’t matter, because the man before him was now moving his whole body, his spine curved up as he rose and fell.
It was too much to witness, he had to press and hand down on his now painfully hard dick just to take the edge off.
“Chairman, ple- please, please” Mine groaned as his movements became more erratic.
He suddenly kicked one of his legs out, throwing the light blanket from the bed as he turned slightly to his side, displaying his gorgeous intricate Kirin tattoo.
If Daigo’s eyes bugged out of his head any more they might’ve fallen to the floor.
Mine had one hand grasped around the base of his large pink cock, tears of precome already weeping down onto his stomach.
Daigo hadn’t even considered what the man might be doing with his other hand, which was soaking wet with lubricant and currently had two fingers knuckle deep in his hole. He was keeping his hands still and using his leg muscles to thrust his body between the two pleasures.
“Chai- Chairman, please, please, fuck-” Mine’s voice reached a pitch Daigo had never heard before. He wanted to hear more.
Mine had opened his eyes, they were filled with tears, but the man appeared to be looking right at him, as if he were really asking him to-
He extracted his hand and reached up beneath the pillow beside his head, when he brought it back down again, he had a simple dark blue toy in his grasp.
Something in Daigo broke as he watched Mine tease himself with the silicone dildo, still pleading, no begging for his chairman.
The man had just started to press the phallus into himself when Daigo’s hand reached out, grabbing the offending object and throwing it to the floor.
He stripped off his clothes unceremoniously, throwing them wherever they might land and more than likely tearing a few of the buttons from his shirt.
If Mine was startled by the sudden disappearance of his toy, or the weight that now pressed on top of him, he didn’t let it show.
“Chairman, I nee- I need you!” he felt a band around his neck pulling him down toward the gasping man. Oh, guess he still had his tie on.
Under normal circumstances he’d never skimp out on foreplay, but it had been a long time since he’d been with someone, and Mine had done such a good job preparing himself already, the man was so desperate for his cock, how could he say no to him?
He braced himself with one hand as he used the other to line himself up, it was beyond strange to be unable to see himself in this situation.
His tip breached the entrance, it was hot and smooth and wet, he wanted to chase the feeling, but also savour it.
He slid in slowly, watching the expression of his lover carefully as he did.
Mine’s face showed nothing but pure bliss, until Daigo finally bottomed out and a deep groan escaped from his lips.
“Daigo-san” Mine’s voice sounded dreamy as he pulled on his tie again.
Those plush, soft lips were so inviting, Daigo surged toward them.
The kiss pulled a groan from the man, so he deepened it for another.
Ensuring he kept their mouths connected, Daigo pulled out as much as he could before pushing back in. The sound it drew from Mine was simply divine, so he did it again, and again, allowing himself to thrust a little harder each time.
Soon they were open-mouth panting, licking and swirling each others tongues, unable to connect their mouths properly.
“Daigo-s- ah, Daigo-sa- ohh, you’re- so good- to me, Daigo-san.”
Mine’s broken chanting brought out something in him that he didn’t know was there.
He drew himself back into an upright position, hooked his elbows under the man’s knees and used his leverage to slam himself forward while simultaneously drawing the man back.
“Holy- Daig-”
He didn’t let the man finish before repeating the process, the monster in him decided Mine wouldn’t get to speak another full word without having it overruled by pleasure.
From his new vantage point, Daigo could actually see Mine’s tight hold stretching around him. The sight drove him wild.
“Daig- Mmmm- Ah, fuc- D- Dai-”
He thrust even harder, until the man beneath him were unable to speak at all, the only sounds that he released where nonsensical groans.
“Mm gnn, mm gunna”
He didn’t need words to understand.
“God yes, me too, I-”
Now he was the one unable to speak, as Mine spasmed, twitched, and got inconceivably tighter around him.
He watched with a hooded gaze and a slack jaw as ropes of translucent white spurt from his partner.
“Yoshi-” he manages to groan as he comes inside his lover, thrusting lowly through his orgasm.
He has just enough presence about him to not crash down on top of Mine full force, gently lowering himself onto the man’s body instead.
They’re panting, slick with sweat, and a little bit sticky around the midriff.
‘This is perfect’ Daigo thinks as he closes his eyes and catches his breath.

“So, you really knew I was there the whole time?” he asked his new boyfriend as they sped down the highway to Kamurocho, on their way to their meeting with ‘Doc’ in order to get Daigo visible again.
“Yes, the entire time.” Mine answered simply, eyes glued to the road.
“But, how?” he didn’t believe it, he hadn’t been that clumsy!
“Simple” Mine glanced at him for a moment “you put your seatbelt on.”
