Chapter Text
Robin fills her revolver with precision focus eyes locked on the bullets as she filled them into the metal cylinders.
Manny looked over at her. His head felt fuzzy. He still didn't remember how they got here. Last he remembered, he was at the Marina with Abby, fighting that guy from Jackson.
"Did we ever get that guy back at the Marina Hermosa?" He slides up behind her loading his semi automatic rifle wlf standard issue.
She looks down at her weapon a look of conflict passing her features eyebrows furrowed and her eyes water slightly jaw clenching.
"Yeah... you got him Manny." She lies to help preserve the fragile normalcy of this weird second chance of life.
"Thought so after all how could I ever lose to such an old man right?" Manny smirks cockily raising his rifle up in a celebratory gesture.
Robin can't help but smile bittersweetly.
"Come lets go we have work to do." She grabs her revolver, shivs, and her pipe bombs.
Manny grabs his own heavy armory focused gear and heads out to the sight.
Robin and he move through the State Street district. The infected there spawn in, moving around, trying to attack her and Manny throughout the building, but the two of them set up for a holdout.
23 infected runners everywhere crawling through the windows and running through the doors straight toward Robin at full speed yelling uncontrollably from the fungus controlling the host.
Robin aims for it's leg causing it's food to snap and create an opening she smashes it's head in with her foot.
During this exchange Manny had been shooting down runners and a clicker with his rifle. He vaults over a counter grabbing some achohol and a bottle crafting a pipe bomb.
Robin rushes over shooting the shambler in the back of the fungus spor filled head. As Manny tosses the pipe bomb toward the bloater stunning it giving them opportunity to kill more of the runners who were distracting them and crowding the area.
The bloater runs around trying to charge at Robin and Manny occasionally as they deal with other infected but they expertly move with soldiers precision.
"On your left!" Manny shouts to Robin over the sound of a pipe bomb explosion.
Robin takes aim shooting without question hitting a clicker in the fungus filled face. She proceeds to hit it in the head mashing it against a wall.
"Sorry Hermosa." He sneaks back further into the build his health lowered from lousy pipe bomb throw.
"No it's my fault just-" She sighs wearily. "Just stay behind me."
She runs over to the dead drop putting a med kit in so when she gets back they'll be more prepared to fight again.
Manny throws another pipe bomb at the bloater temporarily stunning it enough for both Robin and him to lay into it with bullets.
Encounter Complete
They hurry back to the hideout using their new supplies to upgrade. Robin distances herself spenting her time buying materials and crafting.
Manny knew she was hiding the truth from him but something in him told him not to ask not to push. Maybe it was better not to know what happened at the Marina...
