“Covey, no…please.” Min Ho looked, simply put, pathetic. And Kitty hated it.

He was standing in the middle of her empty dorm in KISS, watching her break up with him simply because “the long distance would be too hard.” Min Ho tried so hard to convince her, saying he would even visit NY almost every week; he had the money. Unfortunately, Kitty wasn’t budging; it was like Josh and Margot all over again in Kitty’s eyes. But the truth is, she didn’t want to break up; she loved Min Ho with all her heart, and no one had ever made her happier than he did.

“Fine, at least tell me why,” Min Ho said, pacing around the room, trying not to cry.

“I told you,” she said, not meeting his eyes. She knew if she looked into those eyes she adored so much, she would cave.

“No, you gave me some bullshit reason, I can see it in your face, Covey, you don’t want to do this, so why are you doing this?” His tone was more aggressive than intended, but he couldn’t care right now. All he cared about right now was how his worst nightmare was coming true. Another person he loved was leaving him. He knew this was a mistake because “the more people you let into your life, the more that can just walk right out.” He saw it with his father first, then his mom, slowly his siblings, and now Kitty.

Kitty looked up at him, her eyes glassy, “It's not gonna work, long-distance relationships never work.”

“Liar,” Min Ho strongly believed that if you want something, you take any route to get it. “Your sister and Peter are the same distance that you and I would be, and yet they still made it work.”

Starting to get aggravated now at how stubborn he was, Kitty’s voice was louder than his now. “They spent their ENTIRE freshman year fighting. I can’t do that, Min Ho, they only just solved their problems, a whole year later. I can’t fight with you for an entire year, maybe even longer. I can’t do that to myself, and I can’t do that to you.” Min Ho just stared at her with those glassy eyes that were trying so hard not to cry, and Kitty almost broke right there and then.

Min Ho stared at her for a long moment. Then all he said was, “Fine.” He gathered his phone off the floor, which had fallen out when he was pacing. He regretted saying “fine” two seconds later; he never thought their relationship would end, and here he is letting it. “Have fun at NYU, Kitty,” was all he said before he left, leaving Kitty in her empty dorm room.
