Chapter Text
Peridot stared at their computer screen in disbelief--each one of their work applications has been rejected thanks to that yellow Bitch of a boss they had on their last job--and to their problem regulating their emotions properly specially their anger which lead them to get fired for insulting their Yellow diamond--they run their hands to their short blonde curls while insulting themself under their breath--if it wasn't for Amethyst, their best friend and also their ex supporting them financially...peridot is sure they would have ended up living under some bridge or something similar--just the thought of that made them shiver in pure dread--they hate having to rely on Amethyst like this--specially after all that has happened between them--there were no hard feelings between the two but yet again, but peridot absolutely hates feeling useless and this feeling of helplessness after each rejected application was making all sorts of complicated emotions swirl in their chest "who would want a college dropout anyways?" They muttered to themself, deciding to apply to one last job before giving up and going to sleep once and for all--it was a circus with a quite peculiar name apparently the circus' name was "The temple" or so it said on the website--it said that the circus was short-staffed on techies and motorcyclists--peridot considered their options, for starters they have never drived a motorcycle in their whole life and the only times they have been in a motorcycle it was on the back of the seat holding tightly onto Amethyst's waist they missed that having someone to hold tight to trust and love deeply--a question popped on peridot's head without their permission when was the last time they dated? Oh, yeah, two years ago...they haven't dated anyone since...what were they doing anyways!? Oh yeah no, Peridot wasn't built for motorcycles, but they are surprisingly good with tech, so they decided to say fuck it and write their curriculum as sincerely as possible while sounding professional--after turning off their computer, they wrapped themself tightly in a blanket burrito, their eyelids heavy with exhaustion before falling into deep slumber
"Peridot!!!"
"Periiiii!!!"
"Wake up!!!"
"Peridactyl!!!"
After many failed attempts to try and wake peridot up, Amethyst decided that the best option was to shake peridot's bed until they wake up—After noticing that peridot was staying too still for a sleeping person she realized that peridot was faking being asleep to avoid socializing as usual--so Amethyst had the magnificent idea to open peridot's curtains wide open knowing that someone as vampiric as peridot would surely spring straight out of bed to close them shut again--and just as Amethyst planned, as soon as she opened the curtains peridot let out a surprised and slightly pained sound at the sudden direct sunlight against their face "GAH, AMETHYST!!!" Amethyst snickers at peridot's reaction before leaving the curtains half open as to keep peridot awake--peridot grabbed the nearest object in their reach, a stuffed alien and thew it directly to Amethyst's face "mornin' to you too peri" Amethyst snickered "The fuck do you want?!" Grumbled an annoyed Peridot
"I just wanted to ask if everything is going alright, you know...with the applications and all" asked Amethyst, her tone sounding uncharacteristic of her usual self her tone carrying concern for Peridot's state this last few days--they haven't gotten out of their room much, only leaving to grab something to eat, which they also started doing less and less recently "I've had no luck...i got rejected from a few places already" murmured peridot "I'm sure you'll find somethin'" assured Amethyst trying her best to sound optimistic "Anyways what time is it?" Said peridot, trying to change the conversation topic "To be honest i have no idea..." said Amethyst while scratching the back of her neck "where's your phone?" Asked a confused peridot "dead...i left it changing on my room, then i got bored and...that’s why i am here" surely that wasn’t the only reason Amethyst was here--but peridot found it genuine enough so they decided to believe her "Lemme cheek what time is it" Peridot picks up their phone from their nightstand, blinking a few times as they were still adjusting to all the lighting in the usually dim room before noticing a notification from their email inbox "wuh?" They squint harder at the screen before reading the words--They got accepted!!! They have a job, that circus must have been very desperate to accept their job application a few hours after they submitted it but that doesn't matter--They have a job now--and the job interview is...TOMORROW?! "shit" they said to themself "what?!" Asked Amethyst "i might have a job...but i don't know what to wear to the interview" said peridot worriedly "Dont worry p-dawg, i got ya covered" said Amethyst before jumping straight into bed and squeezing peridot into a bear hug--peridot stood frozen for a few seconds before Amethyst muttered "oh yeah...right, sorry dude...um, i better start movin' i have work in like...an hour or so, see ya later" "yeah...see ya" sighed peridot--they have missed Amethyst's sudden bursts of affection and the feeling of someone wrapping their arms around them...it has been such a long time---better forget about it and continue to enjoy their last days as an unemployed slacker before becoming a part of society again---so they turned their console on and started playing tomadachi life--still trying to get Percy and Pierre to fall in love with each other...they wondered if they would ever find the Percy to their Pierre--enough, they have to focus and pick off clothes for tomorrow... they probably need to go shopping too since none of their clothes give a profesional look, but yet again..how profesional do you have to present for a circus...that thought invaded their Google search for the next several hours after that they concluded that they will just steal some of Amethyst's clothes and call it a day
