Chapter Text
Vi watched him walk into the compound, she knew who he was. She had heard of him and seen him a few times before she had been thrown into that hellhole that was Stillwater. She watched as he walked into the area that housed Vander and Viktor. She watched from a far but she knew when he left she would follow. It did not take long for him to slip out of the building before making his way out of the compound and into the fissures. Vi followed, staying far enough behind that he would not see her but she still could follow. He walked deeper and deeper into the fissures, she should have been paying more attention to her surroundings but she was focused on following him. She heard the noise of the gravel moving first, then she felt the first hit then another before she was being thrown onto her back. She tensed her muscles as she was about to flip them then she saw who was pinning her; Caitlyn.
“On the job, I see” Vi said firmly but scanning Caitlyn’s face
“You can’t be here” Caitlyn countered her voice showing nothing
“Oh. Here, like where I landed when this rich, unhinged mongoose just tackled me?” Vi countered her heart pounding in her chest
“Mongoose?” Caitlyn said offended scanning Vi’s face fully
“Your hair. You look like an angry oil slick” Caitlyn said hating how Vi looked
“Don’t sugarcoat is Cupcake” Vi said her voice tinged with something Caitlyn did not know
Vi did not expect Caitlyn to released the pressure that she held against her chest. But soon she was kneeling above Vi before finally standing, her hand extended like it had been the first time she had helped her up. Vi did not know what to think but something inside her told her that she should take it. Caitlyn was unsure if she would accept the help up but the moment Vi’s much larger and stronger hand slipped into her own she knew whatever Vi was down here for now involved herself. Vi let go of Caitlyn’s hand quickly, before moving toward the opening that led into the camp down below. She listened as those below talked, moving ever closer to the edge but still staying hidden as she heard Caitlyn come beside her.
“Who is out there?” Vi asked un-moving
“We have tracked some sort of new chemweapon. A blood thirsty murderous beast” Caitlyn said watching as Vi turned
“What are you doing down here?” Caitlyn asked as Vi’s face changed
“Trying to save...my dad” Vi said watching as Caitlyn’s face changed
“What do you mean?” Caitlyn asked confused
“That beast you are hunting? It is my father Vander, or it was. Singed turned him into that monster that you are hunting” Vi said shaking her head
“I did not know” Caitlyn tried
“No shit you did not. So if you are here to stop me then try, if not you can leave and allow me to keep my father safe” Vi stated firmly watching her
Caitlyn stood rooted in place, she could not move. She was still angry for what had happened but something about Vi always made her rethink what she believed in. Kneeling down she began to draw in the sand. Vi looked to her side unsure of what she was doing but she watched as Caitlyn drew something out before looking up at her.
“The fissures are blocked by guard towers. Patrols circle the commune at even intervals. Her personal guard are posted here, here and here. They aren't expecting trouble at home. With flawless timing and luck and... A big distraction” Caitlyn said watching Vi who stared at her confused
“Are you helping me?” Vi asked
“I am, we need to have a conversation later. However you would not risk yourself if this was not important to you. So yes I am helping you” Caitlyn said shaking her head
“I have a distraction. Give me your handcuffs” Vi said
Caitlyn raised an eyebrow as she handed them to Vi. She watched as Vi placed them on one wrist before motioning for Caitlyn to do the up the other side. Shaking her head at the waist of time she did, moments later she watched as Vi now held her un-cuffed hands in front of her.
“I guess that will work, but how will you take on Ambessa?” Caitlyn asked unsure
“That right there. All it needs is a little force to explode correct?” Vi said pointing at her gun
“The rope? Yes but more force then you can do with your hands” Caitlyn countered as she popped it from her gun before handing it to Vi
“It will work trust me” Vi said watching and waiting as Caitlyn raised her gun and hit her with the butt of it
“I trust you” Caitlyn said as she grabbed the blindfold she had
Caitlyn slipped it over Vi’s head. She slowly pulling it down as she watched her beautiful face disapear, she was unsure of if this would work and what would happen in the end but she needed to do this for Vi. The blindfold on she once more closed the handcuffs around Vi’s wrists, and so began the walk into camp.

“Yes?” Ambessa said intrigued at the interruption
“It’s Vi” Caitlyn said walking in as Vi was pushed to the ground behind her
Vi couldn’t get up, she had not expected to be pushed to the ground but soon she was being pulled up and her handcuffs before removed from on wrists before being placed in chains. Her blindfold was pulled off as she stood in the tent looking at Caitlyn in front of her who wore a stern face but the worry she had still came across.
“So much for happy reunions” Vi said sarcastically as she watched Caitlyn
“Well done Caitlyn” Ambessa said from the side
Vi knew they needed to make it look real, pulling herself forward until she was on the very end of the chain she was now stood face to face with Caitlyn as she spat. Vi watched as it landed on her cheek, they had not planned this but this added onto the show. She watched as Caitlyn said nothing, but instead raised her hand as she began to wipe the spit away; towards her mouth. Vi had not expected that, any normal person would wipe it away from their mouth but here was Caitlyn coating her lips with her spit.
“Its time” Singed stated
Caitlyn looked at Ambessa as she moved her eyes, motioning for her to follow Singed. Nodding she placed her gun against the rack before beginning to walk away and out of the hut, leaving Ambessa and Vi alone.
“Vi. You've been quite a curiosity. One who captured Caitlyn's heart. I owe you thanks. Your absence provided a vacuum I was able to fill. In other circumstances, I might have offered you a position in my organisation. Your resilience is undeniable. Of course, that won't be possible. You cause too many complications. Caitlyn must not be distracted” Ambessa said calmly as Vi’s heart leapt a little
“Don’t worry, she’s not distracted” Vi said looking at the floor
“You know, my father taught me about trust. He told me if I wanted it, there were three things I needed to do: Be honest, even if it means telling a self-righteous windbag that her breath smells like a cesspool. Be patient. Mm, still haven't cracked that one, but being tied up sure helps. And the third? Just shut the fսck up” Vi said as she watched Ambessa look towards Caitlyn’s gun
Vi slipped her wrists from the shackles, moving out of the way as Ambessa’s sword was thrown at her. Tossing the rope grenade in the air, she punched it. It shot forward and exploded around Ambessa as it was meant to do. Grabbing Caitlyn’s gun she, slipped from the tent and was on her way once more towards the compound.

Caitlyn followed Singed closely, she could feel the eyes on her as they walked into the compound and she knew Jinx was in there somewhere. She was unsure if she would be attacked but as she walked into the building, that fear faded as she found the beast in front of her. No not a beast, Vi’s father. She watched as Singed stepped forward, that is when she pounded, putting him in a headlock she pulled him away from the beast as he fought. She felt him go limp in her arms, dropping him she stepped forward.
“Vi sent me” Caitlyn said as she moved the beast
Caitlyn did not expect the hit but it sent her flying. Then the large hand came around her neck, she was being held up as though she was a doll. There stood Rictus, anger etched across his face.
“Ambessa belived in you. Your death will be a deep cut” Rictus stated as his grip tightened on her throat
Caitlyn heard the shattering of glass as the grip on her neck was gone, dropping to the ground she watched as Rictus began fighting Jinx. Jinx was fast but Rictus was stronger, his weapon taking the hits of her gun and expelling them like they were nothing. Jinx fought hard, but her hair was her downfall. She watched as she laid on the ground having been caught by the braid. Caitlyn was going to watch her die and there was nothing she could do, but as soon as the attack came on Jinx the beast stepped between them.
“Don’t touch my daughter” Vander snarled
Caitlyn watched as Rictus went flying through the glass, before Vander turned as Jinx looked down at her before running into his arms. She heard the door open moments later as Vi ran in, stopping short of Vander. She looked at Caitlyn, a look of one who knew this made no sense but all the sense in the world. This was family, as Vi pressed her forehead against his. Caitlyn could not believe the love that Vi showed as she looked on at those in front of her, something she had seen before but had forgotten how much she missed it. Then the explosion echoed through the compound, and then the screeching.
They were running from the building, Vi handing her her gun which she had not expected her to bring. The people of the compound were on the ground, where they had been touched by the herald now glowed before the slumped over not moving. The glowing red light caught their attention as they turned to look back into the building they had just excited from, Vander no longer looked like he did but now instead he burned red as molten blood ran from his body. She watched as Vi stepped towards him, as he looked on loosing himself once again. Movement on the outside of her vision caught her attention, she watched as Rictus tried to move but instead was stopped by Vander. She watched as he was picked up before being thrown to the ground as swipe after swipe was taken, now he moved no more.
Turning away she did not expect to find Ambessa and her soldiers watching Rictus be killed but she knew this was the beginning of a very different fight. The fight began, she had a weapon but Vi did not. But it did not stop her, she watched as Vi gave out hit after hit. Dropping those around her with her fists, then it happened. She took a shot, taking her sight of Vi for a moment as she was hit with a spear. She watched as it sliced across her stomach, one shot and that soldier was dead then another appeared raising their spear to deal the final blow. One shot and he was down as she began to run to Vi, uncaring of anything else. Dropping down she wrapped her arms around Vi as she held her stomach, she was bleeding badly.
Caitlyn helped her to her feet, her arms around her; supporting her. She watched as Jinx ran towards Vander or what used to be Vander. Her hands up attempting to calm him as soldiers around stabbed him, she watched as Jinx was thrown backwards and now laid on the ground. Vi was barely stable on her feet but she was attempting to move away from the battle. She watched as a small body ran past, the girl Isha was running towards Vander gun in hand. Then she heard the scream, they turned as Isha stood under Vander as Jinx slowly stood and began to try to get to her. That was when Vi let go of her, the last bit of strength that Vi had. She watched as she ran towards her sister, blood trailing behind her as she pulled her back and covered her with her body as the explosion occurred.
The bright light erupted through the compound before darkness took hold, Caitlyn didn’t remember hitting the ground but she now laid face down. Her body hurt but there were no sounds to alert her to anything else. Her mind slowly returned until she remember what had happened, pushing herself up she looked around. Bodies were strewn across the ground but the only one she cared about was Vi. She found the blue hair of Jinx first, completely safe under Vi’s larger body.
“You run I will shoot you” Caitlyn said as she dropped down beside them
“I won’t” Jinx said softly
“Push her over” Caitlyn said as Jinx did as she was asked
Caitlyn stared at Vi, her body was bruised and bloody. The large wound on her stomach bled freely, as well as any other wounds caused from the explosion; as she used herself as a human shield. Caitlyn knew she needed to get her to a doctor, she could hear the enforcer’s making their way into the compound, having heard the explosion form Piltover. Pulling her jacket from her body she pressed it against her, she would not let her die. This was not going to happen, not when she was had just gotten the best thing in her life back.
