Chapter Text
What is Scissura, exactly?
Scissura is a systemic morphogenic necroreactive virus.
It is named after the latin word Scissur: To be torn apart, or split—due to it's split effects on generation 01's, 02's, G03LM's, MAGS, zeds, and 04's.
It all started with Director Phobos: had another cruel
idea. So he took in [name blanked out] (now Infection), and began to experiment on him. Experiment didn't end well. Phobos decided to keep it, because he had another idea, but he had other tasks to do so he had to get those out of the way. Little did he know,
[name blanked out]'s containment cell was not secured—and thus began the spread, of Scissura.
The exact origin of Scissura is not known. No one can pinpoint what Phobos did to manifest its existence, not even Phobos himself knows. Without a source of the virus's origin, it is much more harder to create a cure.
Infection
Do not approach. Never approach.
How it spreads
BITE
Fairly self explanatory—same rules as zeds, don't get bit.
BLOOD-TO-BLOOD CONTACT
Keep your needles to yourself. Don't drink blood. Bad day for vampires.
Magnified Maggots (MAGgots)
Large humongous wiggly things. Passed
from infected MAG agents.
STAGES OF SCISSURA:
Generation 1's and 2's both exhibit the following symptoms: Bleeding orifices (GEN1: Stage 2 // GEN2: Stage 3), Hematemesis and Hemoptysis (Both GEN: Stage 2)
GENERATION 1 EXAMPLE
STAGE 1
Can be mistaken for Influenza. The body begins to shut down.
Symptoms include: Extreme fatigue, dry coughing, chills, muscle ache, appetite loss.
Lasts 4 days until next stage.
STAGE 2
Too late. Not Influenza. You could say, the system is going mad.
Symptoms include: Extreme photosensitivity, sound hypersensitivity, tactile sensitivity, hallucinations (common cases include maggots in the skin), self harm (attempt to rip the "maggots" out), skin tearing.
Lasts 2 days until next stage.
STAGE 3
Feral. Victim goes feral. Highly contagious.
Symptoms include: Violent fucking frenzy, orifices continue to bleed, flesh melting off, blood becomes extremely infectious.
Lasts 2 weeks before final stage.
See paragraph after the Generation 2 example for STAGE 4 information.
GENERATION 2 EXAMPLE
STAGE 1
Suddenly in a good mood, perhaps...TOO good. Panic attack?
Symptoms include: Extremely dilated pupils, insomnia, night sweats, racing thoughts, sudden energy spike, mild euphoria.
Lasts 12 hours until next stage.
STAGE 2
Not a panic attack. Go manic.
Symptoms include: Very strong sense of impending doom, extremely rapid mood cycle, extreme paranoia, may accuse others of "betrayal", breath feels stolen
Lasts 12 hours until next stage.
STAGE 3
Victim goes insane.
Symptoms include: Manic aggression, paranoia amplifies into delusion, hyperventilation, lungs collapse from internal bleeding, laughing and or crying while going violent.
Lasts 12 days before final stage.
STAGE 4
Mutation begins. Stage 4 is divided into 3 outcomes. Stage 4-A, Stage 4-B, and Stage 4-C.
STAGE 4-A
Victim enters a zed-like state. Braindead. Chances of Docility/Hostility are 50/50.
STAGE 4-B
Victim's bones shift into bizarre positions, deformed, stretched. Long missing limbs and/or parts may regenerate. Chances of Docility/Hostility are 2/98.
STAGE 4-C
Death. Chance of entering Postmortem is 99%.
POSTMORTEM
The virus gives its host a second chance. Postmortem infected do not go through the normal stages. It takes them 5 minutes until they enter Stage 4.
The Postmortem infected are mostly harmless. They usually wander aimlessly until something new occurs. They are able to respond to stimuli. Postmortem infected cannot see very well, their eyes are a solid dark red with no iris. In some cases, they attempt to communicate with the environment, however, all that anyone and anything can hear are strange noises, almost like clicking or growling.
AMPUTATION
Amputation cannot save you from Scissura. The affected limb will reattach within seconds.
Smokers tend to be more vulnerable with amplified symptoms. Higher chance of experiencing seizures and spasms.
