Chapter Text
All through middle school, Hirose never really cared about girls or dating, his friends always did. They would always nag him about who his crush is, or what girl he found cute. Hirose always just brushed them off.
He never cared about love or anything of the sorts, that is, until he saw him. Hirose first noticed him at his first year of high-school entrance ceremony, standing there, listening intently to the principal. His short black hair with outgrown bangs that covered his eyes a little, his light, soft skin, his tall stature.
Hirose felt a strange tightness in his chest, a slight heat rising in his cheeks. He stared at the boy for a while, and only broke out of his daze when everyone began to move, whatever that feeling was must’ve been nerves!
.
.
Its been months since the opening ceremony.
And it most definitely was not nerves.
Hirose isn’t too sure whats going on with him but every small glance the boy looks his way makes his heart skip a small beat. This feeling is so foreign to him, and its all that keeps him up at night. That and the little interactions they have.
Shortly after that day, Hirose realized that him and the boy were in the same class, 1-A. He also learned his name too! Okuto Nakamura. He noticed that Nakamura was pretty shy, kept to himself, and mostly in the backround. He never hangs out with anyone either, it seems like he doesnt have any friends...
Hirose turns to look at time from his digital clock on his desk, it reads 11:32 pm. He sighs and rubs his eyes. He wants to talk to him! To do something about this odd feeling, but he when he tries to talk to Nakamura, its like his words get stuck in his throat. Making friends or talking to classmates has always come easy to him, hes never had this problem before.
And hes not going to anymore. At this late hour, Hirose decides he is going to do something about this.
Hes going to become Nakamuras friend!
.
.
The bell rang to signify the end of the school day.
"That's all for today," the teacher announced, "who's on day duty? Stand."
Hirose worked on his missing homework he had completely forgotten about as people around him stood. To Hiroses suprise, his teacher had given him time to do it which was a relief.
He had to finish it quickly and hand it in.
"Hirose," he heard one of his friends call, "lets go home."
"Sorry, one second! I forgot yesterday's homework." Hirose replied sheepishly.
"Ah alright, it's fine, we'll start heading home then." He waved as he made his way to the door.
Hirose worked on his paper for a few more minutes before finishing. He began to pack up his stuff. Hirose glanced back, nearly choking on nothing as he realized that it was only him, Nakamura and only two other classmates in the room. This was his chance!
He almost stood up and offered to walk together with Nakamura but stopped himself. Hirose has barely ever talked to him, and for him to ask Nakamura to walk home together is too sudden! He tapped his pencil nervously on his paper, seriously, what was wrong with him? Why is he thinking so hard about this?
He looked back, ah, he's coming this way!
Hirose's eyes landed on his eraser, suddenly an idea formed in his head, what if he "dropped it?" Nakamura would notice, pick it up, and Hirose would have his chance!
Okay, he was going to do it. Smooth and natural.
Hirose's hand creeped closer to the eraser, giving it a few nudges super sneakily, about one or two times before it so happened to drop on the floor. Nakamuras steps grew closer, notice it!
Closer..closer..
"Excuse me."
Hirose turned quickly, "Oh hey! Whats up?"
"You dropped your eraser." He pointed to the floor, then proceeded to keep walking.
Hirose's face decomposed as his very well-thought out plan that should've worked, didn't!
Well actually, it was pretty stupid of him. And honestly, what was he expecting.
"Oh- thank you!" He called out but Nakamura was already halfway through the door.
He picked up his eraser with a sigh, his ears felt warm.
Assembeling his homework, he placed it on the teachers desk and hurried his way out the door, feeling strangely disappointed. Well, that was a bust.
But theres always tomorrow…and hes probably going to think about that for the rest of the day. .
