Chapter Text
Sun woke up well rested, like usual. Who knew being kept on a strict schedule like this would actually keep someone so motivated? He couldn’t say the same for Moon though, who was currently still passed out on the other side of the bed.
Moon never followed schedule, at least not when it came to sleeping. Ever the night owl he was, Sun would kick him out of their shared bed space at night just so he didn’t keep him up.
Whatever, Sun would get ready first then wake him up. He took a nice warm shower with all his soaps and other bathroom necessities (everyone knew most of it wasn’t actually necessary, but who are they to judge Sun of all people?). He stepped out with his red silky robe loosely wrapped around his figure and water still dripping from his face. Of course, he has yet to decide what he wanted to wear today, so he skipped getting dressed for now and started working on his makeup.
While Sun could’ve had a number of professionals do his makeup for him, he enjoyed the art and preferred to do it himself. Sometimes even Moon lets him do his! Though that’s very rare with how bright and flamboyant Sun’s preferences in makeup are.
After he got that done, he headed to his closet. Sun was always quite flashy, wearing revealing clothing to show off the beautiful patterns that adorned his skin. Moon and Sun were anomalies among their alien species, most did not possess the swirling pattern or ombre of colors they did. It was one of the many things that made them so popular!
He settled on something tamer for today, a light blue, loose-fitting shirt that connected with a ring at the neck. Revealing his arms and back, along with a teardrop shape cut out on the chest area to reveal the little sun swirl on his chest. Subtly patterned flare pants, a ton of different jewelry, platform sandals, and the band on his upper arm that signifies his relationship with Moon and to add just a little contrast to everything else in his outfit. He loved how the jewelry sparkled in the stage lights, the flashing lights of the cameras… He basically just liked how they sparkled in general.
Now time to wake up Mr.Grumpy pants!
“Moooonie! It’s time to wake up, the manager said she had a surprise for us today, remember? Something about a companion for the new single we have planned. I hope whatever it is will be cute!”
Sun’s currently attempting to tear the blanket away from Moon, still with that beaming smile on his face, Moon swears it’s almost as blinding as the real sun currently rising outside.
“I don’t care about a stupid companion,” Moon complained, “You’re already more than enough to deal with!”
Sun gasped, “Rude!!”
Moon suddenly released the blanket from his hold, causing Sun to fall backwards on his butt and the blanket to cover his face.
“Moon, I swear if everything I just did to get ready is ruined because of you-!”
“Calm down, Sun, I’ll help you fix it if it is… And why didn’t you wake me earlier?”
That got Sun to perk up a little, pulling off the blanket and standing up again, checking his reflection in the mirror on the bathroom door. “Well, you were just sooo cute snuggled up in the blankets! And I figured you didn’t follow the schedule again, seeing as I had to kick you out last night, so I let you get a few minutes of extra rest.”
Moon sighs, thankful for the extra 30 or so minutes of sleep Sun gifted him, but a little annoyed about the cute comment.
“Thanks Sun, now how about you go figure out breakfast while I go get ready myself.”
“Okay! See you soon, Moon.” Sun gave him a peck on the cheek before cheerfully exiting the room.
Moon smiles fondly at the sight before getting out of bed himself. Moon didn’t have a robe for the shower like Sun did, being content with just a regular towel. He was a lot simpler in most things, actually, clothes, makeup, pretty much everything.
After his shower, he put on a black, sleeveless turtleneck with a corset. His top, like Sun’s, had a section in the chest area to reveal his moon swirl. He wore simple dress pants with platformed boots and just a few necklaces and bracelets to add a bit of sparkle.
He did his makeup, nothing fancy or too colorful. The two aliens really were the opitammy of opposites attract it seems. Sun took 30-45 minutes to get ready (on one occasion it took over an hour, just because the outfit he had planned got ruined!) while Moon only took about 15.
Moon made his way out of their shared bed space, turning down the hall of their large home that most other aliens would call a mansion and entering their kitchen space.
“I’m all cleaned up now, Sun. Did you decide what you wanted for breakfast?” Moon asked, raising his voice a little since he could tell Sun had decided to move to the living room before he got there.
“Yep! Something simple, maybe some Belgian Waffles and scrambled eggs? You know how I like them, not too mushy.”
“Coming right up.” Moon replied, already getting out the ingredients.
They ate breakfast in the main area while discussing the plans for their upcoming single and making a few last minute changes to the song beat or lyrics. Today they just had to record it for sampling, the actual release was weeks away.
They didn’t have to meet their manager till around three o’clock, and seeing as it was currently nine, they had plenty of time to get the recordings done before heading that way.
The two washed up after breakfast, brushing their teeth and using the bathroom if needed before calling their personal driver and part time butler, Freddy. He was a very kind soul, more of a friend than an employee, that’s probably why they trusted him so much.
They stepped into the backseat of the vehicle, people on the streets were easily able to tell the importance of the two aliens. Especially since, in this city, people preferred walking. Sun and Moon would like that too, but it’d draw more attention and they’d be bombarded with fans, the car provided a layer of protection.
“To the studio, right? And should I pick you up around one?” Freddy asked, looking back at the two.
“Correct, thank you, Freddy.” Moon confirmed.
Sun and Moon arrived at the studio, and despite the numerous times Sun had told him it was unnecessary, Freddy got out and opened the door for them. They thanked him regardless.
The two went back and forth recording, modifying, and planning dance routines for a few new songs they had planned. That was one thing they loved about their occupation, the process. The thought put into the lyrics and what they wanted them to sound like, along with the outfits and other things involved in the process. It was made better by the fact the two lovers got to do it all together.
They met Freddy outside the studio at one o’clock, just as they discussed, then they worked on deciding what they wanted to do for lunch. They’d get to relax for a bit before meeting up with their manager at three. They decided to eat out today, since Moon had made breakfast this morning and Sun was barely trusted with baking cookies.
“Oh Moonieeee…?” Sun drew out, already getting his puppy face ready in case Moon denied him his request.
“Yes, Sun?” Moon sighed, already knowing Sun would try to convince him to get something sweet again.
Sun pouted, he could already hear the exasperation in Moon’s tone. Regardless, he put his puppy eyes back on and continued. “Can we go to that one cafe with the little cake pops?”
“That’s not a restaurant, Sun. We’re actually trying to get food, not just something that’s barely considered a snack-” “But Moon!-” “Sun, no.”
Sun huffed and crossed his arms, refusing to look at Moon after that. “Come on Sunny, you know I’m right…”
Still not budging.
“I’ll let you get a dessert after we eat actual food at a restaurant, I’ll even give you a kiss… Please? Sunshine?”
Unfortunately, Sun crumbled at the offer far too easily. He turned back to Moon, still pouting and avoiding eye contact, but responding now. “Fine… But I want more than just one…”
“I can do that.” Moon smiled triumphantly before gently grasping Sun’s cheeks in his hands and peppering his face in kisses, quickly turning his yellow and orange face red.
“Okay- Okay! That’s enough, you are forgiven.” He said as he pushed Moon’s face away with his hand.
Unfortunately for him, Moon was feeling playful, taking his hand and bringing it to his lips, gently kissing his knuckles with half-lidded eyes. “Whatever you say, Sunny, dear.”
“Quit that you- you- ugh!” Moon got a bonk on the head for that, but he still released Sun’s hand with a smug smile on his face.
“Just teasing Sun, no need to be so dramatic.”
“You’re on thin ice here, keep it up and I’ll go back to pouting and ignoring you.”
After that, the car ride was mostly silent. A comfortable silence of course, with a song playing in the background that neither of the two were really paying attention to.
Neither of the two, Sun or Moon, were really craving anything specific at the moment, so they just settled on a restaurant they both favored, a nice sushi restaurant in one of the most bustling places within the city.
The car ride only took about 20 minutes, luckily traffic wasn’t that bad today.
When Sun and Moon got out of the car, it was safe to say that the same could not be said for the inside restaurant, it was as busy as ever. Most seats were taken and there was a decent line at the counter.
“Are you sure we have the time to eat here, Sun?” Moon questioned, turning slightly to look at his partner, who in turn looked back at him with a smile. “We have to meet the manager at three.”
“Of course we can! I put in an online order on the way over, so it should be ready soon if it isn’t already. Plus, now that we’re here, I’m really craving some shrimp tempura rolls with miso soup. And don’t worry, I got you something spicy. Some volcano rolls with a side of just regular shrimp tempura.” Sun declared, clearly proud of his fast thinking and ability to choose something for Moon without his knowledge.
Moon smiled at the goof, shaking his head. “Thank you, Sunny. Do you think you could check?”
Sun hummed a confirmation before pulling out his tablet, “It looks like they’re ready! I’ll go up and get it, we don’t want to eat here, right? Not with how crowded it is. Go back to the car and I’ll bring it out, we could go eat at a park or something.”
“Sounds good, I’ll decide and tell Freddy where to go. Did you order drinks?”
“...” Sun pouted, his moment of glory being stripped from him like it was nothing, by a question Moon wasn’t even really thinking about. “No…”
Moon laughed “My gosh- Don’t sulk, Sunny, it’s alright. Just ask for some while you’re up there.” He gave Sun a kiss on the cheek before walking out of the restaurant and back to the car.
Sun stopped sulking and stepped into the line with the other aliens, some his same species, some not. His presence hadn’t been noticed among the crowd of people, which was a blessing right now.
He got to the counter and retrieved the food, adding on drinks like Moon requested before turning to leave. When he turned around, there was a little kid.
“Hello Mr!” The kid exclaimed, they seemed really excited. Sun couldn’t quite place what species they were, but they were cute.
“Hello there little one, is there anything I can do for you?” Sun asked, crouching down a little to be more at eye level with the kid.
“No, I just wanted to tell you that you looked really pretty. My older sister said that you were a famous singer, is that true?”
“You bet it’s true! My name is Sun, is your sister a fan? I could give you an autograph to surprise her with.”
“Yes please! Thank you, Mr.Sun!” The kid jumped a little in their place, very happy with this information along with Sun’s offer. Sun signed a napkin for the kid and watched them to make sure they got back to their sister safely. What a nice kid.
He left the sushi restaurant very pleased, pleased with both the sushi and the interaction with the kid. He’d have to tell Moon about it in the car.
Speaking of which, where had they gone? The car wasn’t parked where it had been last, but Sun quickly spotted Moon waving at him from the back seat. Sun told him to scoot over and that he was on his side, Moon complied and noticed the hint of joy Sun was giving off.
“Did something happen in the restaurant? What’s got you so happy, Sunny?”
“Oh nothing, there was just this cute kid that came up to me! They were so sweet and I gave him an autograph to give to his older sister who happened to be a fan. Oh, I got our drinks, here you go.”
“Thanks, and that sounds nice. I always enjoy those nicer and tame interactions with fans, or just people in general. I told Freddy to take us to that one park with the small underwater section, that alright?”
“Sounds good to me!” Sun answered Moon before turning to Freddy, “Oh, and Freddy? I don’t know if you like sushi or not, or what type you’d like, so I got you a slice of strawberry shortcake.”
“Thank you, Sun, you didn’t have to. And don’t worry about the sushi, I’ve never liked it much. It’s strange how they’re serving shortcake at a sushi place though, right?”
“I’d definitely say so, but I’m not complaining.” Sun replied before turning to Moon and sticking his tongue out at him, “And don’t worry Moon! I didn’t forget about the treat I was promised, I expect you to pay me back for the cookie I got.”
Moon shook his head with a small laugh, “Alright Sun, I’ll make sure to pay you back the five credits you spent on that cookie.”
Sun nodded in approval as Freddy started driving to the park. Sun had never actually been to the partially aquarium one. Moon had gone for the first time because of a photoshoot, but revisited it afterwards because he found it interesting.
They thanked Freddy for the ride when they got there, just confirming again to be back at 2:30 so they had time to get to the location their manager sent. They got out of the car with their food and Moon led the way to what he considered to be the nicest part of the park.
It was partially hidden from the public eye, but not closed off at all. The room was a cylinder shape, surrounded by the aquarium walls and lit up beautifully. The fish were so colorful! Sun could see why their manager had scheduled a photoshoot with Moon here all those weeks ago, and he could definitely see why Moon would want to return to this place on his own time.
“Is it wrong to eat sushi in front of other fish?” Sun asked, sitting on the circular bench in the middle of the space.
“Hmm, I don’t think so. Fish eat other fish all the time, plus, they won’t even recognize the sushi as fish. They either won’t notice or won’t care. They’re fish.” He replied as he sat next to Sun, leaning against him as he watched the fish swim around in the aquarium.
“Fair point,” Sun said as he started digging the food out of the bag, handing Moon his before getting his own out. “Here you go- … Moon. Look at that fish.”
Sun choked out, holding back a laugh. There was a fish behind the glass, it looked absolutely horrified as Moon popped the first bite of sushi into his mouth. They knew that it naturally looked like that and just happened to be facing them, but given the context of their previous conversation, Sun couldn’t help but imagine that it was horrified at the thought of Moon eating the sushi. Even though it wasn’t the same type of fish, at all.
Moon almost choked on his bite of sushi after looking at that fish, Sun was absolutely right, it was hilarious. He barely managed to swallow down his bite before breaking out laughing right along with Sun.
They laid back on the big bench, still laughing and not really trying to calm down. This was a wonderful moment, away from the work and not thinking about that schedule they were almost always on. Maybe they should take a mini vacation after the new single release, that in itself is just a few weeks away.
They managed to calm down within a few moments, just looking up at the sky and the aquarium around them. Sun spoke up, kinda hopeful, kinda sad.
“Hey Moonie, what do you think the manager has planned for us?… We know it’s some sort of companion, a pet. Do you think we’ll get to keep it? I think that a pet sounds nice…”
“A pet does sound nice, but don’t get your hopes up for it. We’re already so busy with everything else… I think that maybe if we talked to her she’d let us, we’ll just have to wait and see.” Moon rolled onto his side to face Sun as he spoke, wrapping his arms around him and bringing him close.
“Regardless on if we keep the pet or not, it’ll still be a fun experience. Plus, a break after we release the single would be a wonderful time to try to convince our manager to let us keep it.” He continued as he gave Sun a kiss on the cheek. “I love you.”
“I love you too, Moon.” Sun melted into the kisses before sitting up, bringing Moon with him. “Now how about we actually eat our sushi? Without you choking on it because of a fish’s stupid face.”
“Shut up! You’re the only reason I noticed it in the first place, you big meanie!”
Sun started laughing again as Moon sulked about his earlier incident, this time, instead of a whole conversation, it melted into a comfortable silence as they ate their sushi. Occasionally pointing out funny looking or cool looking fish.
Sun stole a piece of Moon’s sushi, Moon only let him because he knew what was coming. The face Sun made was hilarious, he could not handle spicy food. Moon withheld his drink until he vowed never to steal his food again.
“I give! I give! Just please- Moon, I need my drink!! It’s too spicyyyy!” Sun whined, clinging to Moon and trying in vain to get his drink back.
“Nuh uh, not until you actually say it Sun. Tell me that you won’t steal my food ever again, say it and I’ll give you your drink back.”
“I won’t steal it ever again! I won’t ever touch your food again- Moon! Just give it to me!” Moon laughed, but finally gave Sun his drink back.
“Next time, say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’, maybe I’ll give it back sooner.”
“We both know that’s a lie, you big meanie.”
“I have no clue what you could be talking about, I'm the very sweetest and most innocent of boyfriends.”
“Sweet, maybe sometimes, but not innocent what so ever!”
The two finished up their food with about 30 minutes left to spare, just having silly conversations and taking guesses about what species their pet was gonna be. Would it be something super rare or something common? Not that they really cared, it was just something silly to talk about to pass the time.
25 minutes passed rather quickly, they decided that they should probably head back to the parking lot now rather than exactly at 2:30. They cleaned up their trash and threw it away in a trashcan on the way back, Sun attempting to throw it in from a few feet away and missing horribly. Moon made the throw easily and lightly teased Sun about his horrible aim.
They made it back to the parking lot in just two minutes, Freddy was already there waiting for them because of course he was. They got seated in the car and Freddy smiled back at the two.
“How are you two? Was your break nice?” Freddy asked the two.
“Yeah, there was this stupid fish with a horrified expression that showed up right after we discussed whether or not the fish would be offended about us eating sushi in front of them.” Sun replied with a small chuckle.
Then Moon spoke up, and Sun pouted at what he said, “It was nice, Sun stole a piece of my food though… And it was spicy, so watching him beg me for his drink back was fun.”
“No! It was not!!” Sun complained loudly about how rude it was of Moon to do what he did, trying to convince Freddy to be on his side. Freddy let him finish his rant before speaking up to voice his opinion on the matter.
“Well, I personally think that you both were in the wrong.”
Moon huffed and Sun pouted at that, “And why is that?” Moon asked.
“First of all, Sun, you stole Moon’s food without asking, even though you had your own. And while I do think Moon was right to punish you because of it, he saw you taking it and let you, knowing that because it was spicy you wouldn’t be able to handle it.”
Sun and Moon couldn’t argue with that, so they just sulked.
“I know I shouldn’t have to parent you two gentlemen, but I think you should both apologize.”
Sun hummed in response and Moon huffed again, but they muttered apologies.
“Good job you two, now lets get going to see what the manager’s surprise is. I’m not sure she’d appreciate you two being late.”
“Yeah, it’s probably best to avoid getting on her bad side. Especially since last time, when Moon woke up late and we didn’t make it in time to a very important photo shoot.”
“Shut up, it was one time- And it wasn’t just me getting up late! You couldn’t decide what to do with your makeup.”
“You two, you two, stop fighting already. You can’t be hungry, you just ate! Maybe just sit in silence for a bit, at least until we get to the pet shop.”
The two grumpy lovers nodded and Freddy was finally able to start up the car in peace, without any arguing over “who did this” and “who did that”.
The car drove in mostly silence, the occasional conversation would pop up here and there, but otherwise it was just the radio. The drive took longer than expected, which left Sun and Moon with only two minutes to actually locate their manager.
It was 3:10 by the time they found her, and they were already dreading the repercussions of being late.
“Hello you two, mind me asking might have you ten minutes behind schedule?”
Sun and Moon immediately started spewing off excuses, well, they weren’t really excuses if it was true. Traffic was bad and the instructions they were following to find their manager hadn’t been very clear.
“Alright, alright. I get it you two, I’m not actually upset. Let’s go see you new pet shall we?”
Both Sun and Moon breathed a sigh of relief at that, they agreed and followed Vanessa to the back.
“So… Do we get to choose or did you already have something planned for us?” Sun asked, looking down at Vanessa.
“I already have something planned, it’s a new species. It was actually an offer from the organization, the creature was rescued from an illegal cargo ship and they wanted to give it to people who had the money to take care of it. Especially since no one knows much, there were only about seven and they can’t track what planet they came from.”
Sun and Moon nodded, frowning a little at the thought of a little creature being taken from it’s home.
“What have they named the species?”
“Human.”
