A mermeful month

Summary:

When False met Martyn she knew it would be an adventure, and when he was discover by Ren and Cleo she knows it would take only some littke time for more Hermits to know of him, and while she mostly ignores it or is none the wiser of said facts, Martyn does realize this changes a lot more.

Or a compilation of Martyn's life in the Hermicraft Server and how his relationships grew there aka a compilation of the mermay prompts

Chapter 1: Sea Glass

Chapter Text

False is still getting accustomed to her new friend or maybe more, who knows, definitely not her, she does not like to think too much about that anyway. Martyn is what she means, the merman who came to save her and has changed how she has been living the last couple of weeks since, been marking her life to be a lot different than expected.

But that's not even here or there.

Today she was just shock with a realization that makes her heart beat like crazy and her cheeks warm. Said realization being that just as much as she loves passing time with Martyn he can be a bit of a handful –in a good way, mind you, he is also really fun to spend time with even if it takes a while to get accustom to him–.

As of lately that has been manifesting in how over the top he has been acting every time they met, for he has been taking some enjoyment in gifting her whatever trinkets he can find, big or small, diamonds or coral, or whatever else comes to mind. Which, really, is why she is not quite surprised when after she came in to see him today he made her wait because he wanted to gift to her a weird blue rock, and made a whole thing to it.

Really makes False think he would have been a great entertainer if he was a player.

And his gift is quite unusual, is like a strange rock, not really something she sees every day. And like it's really shiny, almost like glass, mostly because it looks like it has been sanded down, been slightly translucent as well for the same reason. When False holds it up to the sun it reflects the light in a very artistic way, even makes her want to draw it or take a photo of it.

More when she sees the light reflect in Martyn's face.

Martyn would look very nice in that tone she thinks… Or maybe a more pinkish tone, with his green colors, a pink would really bring out his scales… Hmm….

And Martyn, because even though he is able to talk, still sometimes acts more on his instincts than anything else. So just as False clearly shows her interest in his gift he starts to do those weird chirps he does from time to time before he tries to pull himself up into the stones where she is sitting on and ends up slipping back into the water.

Which is another thing she has discover, he is, as redundant as it sounds, as a fish out of water whenever he tries to come up too much of the water on his own, even when she has first hand experiences at seeing how able he is under water.

Still he only struggles to pull himself with his arms a lot she has noticed, not much when he uses his tail or upper body strength, and he does seem to complain about his body hurting all the time, making her wanna ask him to be more careful even when she can not really control what he does. Still, after a second he does come back up and gives her a sheepish look, before he asks slightly nervously. “Do you like it? I can go find more if you want to use it in your home.”

Because he has explained time and time again how he has to help her make her home more stronger since even when she makes time and time clear that none of the Hermits are violent, Martyn says he knows humans and that they are not to be trusted and that as his friend he had to help make her home stronger.

And by far this rock was far his best suggestion –even if not in the protection sense–, given that they at least were really pretty and False could actually imagine putting them somewhere in her base, actually, it would make a perfect piece to use on a kind of mosaic even and it would go well with the elvish magical theme she was going on for this season…

“I do like them,” she answers once she realizes Martyn is staring at her in uncertainty, definitely waiting for an answer. “What are they?”

Martyn grins at that and he crawls closer looking really excited, he puts his hand over False's, just where she is holding the rock, and they kind of stare at each for a second. Both seemingly loss in each other's eyes for just a second too long, as if all the beauty on the world was being hold there, which in all honestly wouldn't feel to far-fetch in False's opinion.

But he breaks the spell not too long after as he slowly takes it off her hand before he starts to explain as he blushes and looks away looking very embarrassed by their small moment: “This is sea glass, I always find those at the beach or just on the sea” he is so excited, always is when he tells her things of his world. “They are of so many different colors, could bring you a stack with no one repeating… Probably”

She lifts an eyebrow at that. “Yeah?” She probably doesn't look any better than Martyn, her cheeks feel as warm as his look.

He nods, and starts to move away as if ready to go do as so, before he turns to look at her sheepishly. “Unless you were just– erm– do you want them?”

And she does, but even more because it would be something he likes being on her base. Just how her and Ren both have allays (even if he was the one who kind of copied her) or how Cleo and Pearl also share some resemblance on their terra-forming. Is the Hermit way of showing their love for one another and she would love to have him participate in it.

It would be as if Martyn was really a Hermit. A player. Human. like them, even if he isn't.

It doesn't matter. She…

“I would love to, if it's not much of a hustle.”  She ends up saying because she can't get herself to explain all that it would mean for her for him to do this for her.

And Martyn grins at her in that way of his… And it's a beautiful sight, it really is. Even when she knows she shouldn't be looking at him as she is. Should tried to not put her feelings into everything Martyn does, but sometimes it's really hard to do so. It really is,

“On it, boss!” He chirps as he grins so much in her direction, before he just goes, and dives back into the sea without saying anything else…

He is just…. So unique, so him, and yet that just makes him the more interesting, the more dear in her heart… The better to pass time with. The better to talk with when she is feeling stress, and someone who is a good listener even if he is definitely a troublemaker when he outs to be.
