Chapter Text
It was about 8:30 in the morning, Samantha sat in the kitchen working on her computer. It was too early for the restaurant to open, so Jay sat opposite her, sipping a cup of coffee
Soon, Jay spoke up
– “Hey Sam,”
Sam looked up from her computer slightly annoyed:
– “Yeah?”
“Ive been reviewing the ghost notes and was wondering, can ghosts swim?” Jay asked now looking back down at his phone at his notes app onto a document titled “Ghosts notes”.
Sam’s expression changed from annoyed to uninterested to curious.
“Oh,... I dont know.”
“You havent ever asked?”
“No, it hasnt came up in conversation.”
Jay sighed
“You dont deserve this power.”
About an hour later some of the ghosts came into the kitchen.
Sasappis was the first to break the silence of the morning
“Hey Sam, are you planning on making anything for breakfast? Id love to smell some toast.”
Sam looked up from her computer, her coffee half drank she looked across the table to Jay.
“Will you make some toast, Jay?”
Jay looked slightly confused before understanding “ghost thing?”
“Ghost thing.” Sam confirmed
Jay put some bread into the toaster and said “Let me guess… Sas?”
“Yep.” Sam said trying to focus on her laptop
Jay cheered to himself “haha! Got ya Sas-orino!”
Sasappis groaned he hated that stupid nickname but he withstood saying anything knowing Jay had the power of making him toast.
Soon some more of the ghosts came in as the toaster lever popped up led by the smell of Toast
Sam greeted them and Jay became confused
“Can i get a headcount?”
Jay asked sitting back down after smearing some jelly onto the piece of toast and giving it to Sam on a plate.
The ghosts all huddled around the piece of toasts smelling it as Sam nodded
“Isaac, Alberta, Thor, Sas, and Pete.”
Jay nodded in understandment his expression lifting slightly as Pete was mentioned.
Jay soon remembered his question from earlier that day and said it outloud to the crowd of ghosts or ‘invisible people’ jay liked to call them:
“Can ghosts swim?”
He then waited for Sam to convey his answer but sadly he didnt get one.
All of the ghosts looked to Thor and Sasappis who seemed confused:
“What?” Sasappis asked upset the ghosts seemed to be accusing him of something.
“What you want Thor to say!?”
Thor was even louder with his response
Alberta looked at them with a ‘are you serious?’ expression:
“You two have been here the longest! If any of you know the answer to Jay's dumb question it would be you.”
Sasappis frowned and sat down on a seat at the table.
“Ive never tried it.”
“Seriously youve been here for over 500 years!”
Isaac clapped fast
Sasappis deflected “Well what about Thor, hes been here longer than me!”
The ghosts continued their long argument
Jay cleared his throat “...So?”
Sam snapped back to reality trying to ignore the ghosts "They've… never tried it.”
“Hm. Ill probably be thinking about it all day, i gotta get to the restaurant ill see you later babe.”
Jay gave Sam a quick kiss before heading out.
The ghosts continued their debate
Sam was sick of them, She left the room.
Isaac soon spoke up again: “Well if we think about it, it may act as how the dirt acts and we might just fall straight through. I mean i wouldnt risk it.”
Alberta nods her head “Yes, if it is like the dirt i dont want to risk it.”
Thor smirked “Risk what? Didnt you fall into the dirt already? Where else did you get that dumb hat!”
Thor laughed heartely at his joke before Pete spoke
“I think your hat looks great, Alberta” with a sweet smile
Alberta smiled “aww thanks Pete.”
Isaac continued his thoughts on the lake…
“I’m quite surprised we are still unsure how liquid acts to ghosts. I mean how did Flower fall into a well and not the vastness of the lake with all the time she wanders around mindlessly?”
Thor frowned
“She just… likes to explore.”
Isaac rolled his eyes “yeah sure whatever you say.”
