Chapter Text
“Where are you going?”
Natsu turned around to find her brother standing at the bottom of the stairs, suspiciously looking at her.
She grinned. “Tropical Land.”
“Of course you are,” he sighed, making her laugh.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going to ruin your date.”
She ran out of the house before he could reply.

Natsu blinked in surprise when she saw Ran and her brother step out of the roller coaster.
What didn’t surprise her, though, was the decapitated body in the car behind them.
'Of course dead bodies follow him even in an amusement park,' she thought with a sigh.
She watched as a couple workers pulled the body out of the roller coaster, and dragged it over to a sheet placed on the floor by a third worker.
“Hmph. What an unlucky guy.”
She looked towards the person who talked; a man with long white hair, dressed in all black.
'He looks like he commits murder for fun,' she noted.
“It’s an accident anyways," the man standing beside him, also dressed in all black, said. “Just let us leave.”
They started to walk towards the exit.
“Hold on!” her brother called out, making the men stop and turn around to look at him. “It’s not an accident. It’s a murder.”
'Of course it is,' she thought with another sigh.
“And the murder is amongst the seven of us who rode the same coaster as the victim,” he continued.
“Excuse us!”
Natsu turned around to see Inspector Megure, as well as a couple other police officers, being led by a worker through the crowd.
She stepped out of the way to let the four men through.
“Oh, Kudo-kun!” the inspector exclaimed when he noticed her brother standing beside the body.
Almost immediately, everyone around her started murmuring, talking about her brother.
“Oh, so that’s the famous high school detective, Kudo Shinichi!”
“The one who’s been solving tough cases one after another!”
“He’s known as the savior of the Japanese police!”
She let out yet another sigh.
'His ego doesn’t need any more inflating…'

She heard running footsteps behind her, and turned around to see her brother heading towards a secluded area.
Her heart dropped when she saw one of the men in black, the dangerous-looking one, follow him.
She quickly looked around, but there were no police officers.
'I don’t have time to find someone.'
And calling would take too long.
She looked back to where her brother and the man went… and then cursed and went after them.
She lost them for a second, but then found them again just in time to see the man hit Shinichi on the back of the head with a baton.
She winced when she heard him grunt in pain and fall to the floor.
Hiding behind a tree, she watched as the man pulled something out of his coat pocket.
He grabbed her brother’s hair, pulled his head off the floor, and shoved something into his mouth.
'Poison.'
She needed to get someone, and fast, before whatever the man gave her brother took effect, but he (and his accomplice, she just noticed) was still there, and she was too scared to move.
So she stood there, helplessly, waiting for them to leave.
After what felt like an eternity, they finally did.
She gave them a few more seconds, just to make sure they were far enough, and then pulled out her phone.
But, before she could call anyone, the screaming started.

Shinichi’s body was on fire.
He screamed as a stab of pain coursed through his body.
“Nii-san!”
His eyes snapped open.
'Natsu!'
It hurt to move, but he managed to turn his head to where the sound came from, and, sure enough, there was his sister, running towards him.
'What are you doing, you idiot?!'
He opened his mouth, wanting to tell her to run away, that those men might still be around, but the only thing that came out was another scream.
And then everything turned black.
