Human Heart, Heavy Paws

Summary:

The bear lifted its head, looking at him. " Oh, God! Don't eat me!" Kyle backed away, lifting his pan for defense. The bear gently roared as it walked toward him, tilting its head.
Kyle tried to hide the fear in his voice. " Y-you need to get out here, bear! My mom would murder me if she found a bear in here!"
The bear opened its mouth, its fangs gleaming and white against its blood red fur. It roared.
Kyle screamed. " MOM! COME HERE!"
The bear tilted its head, ears perked.
Kyle stared in disbelief. It can't be...
"...mom, come here..."
The bear walked to him. " ROAR!"
Kyle narrowed his eyes. " Hang on..."
His eyes widened in shock.
" Mom?! Is that you?!"

Kyle accidentally turns Sheila into a bear, and goes on a journey to turn her back

Chapter Text

Chapter 1

Kyle Broflovski was always right.
How could he not be? He was the smartest kid in his friend group, after all~

This was his thought process as he drew his study of a bear. He thought the body looked wrong, but he decided that he was right and did not fix it.

There was no need to.

Kyle was a horrible kind of perfectionist. Everything he did needed to be perfect, but he did everything right.

Perfectionist was the word for Kyle Broflovski.
A bump in the road made him mess up his sketch.
Damn it!

Kyle felt a tiny tug on his shirt. He turned around to see his little brother, staring at him with large, dark eyes

" What you dawing?" Ike asked with interest.

“ Just a nice little doodle. Hehehe, doodle~”
Kyle giggled to himself.

Ike threw his hands into the air, curling his fingers like claws. " Daw bear! Raw!"

Kyle smiled at his little brother. “ Yeah, it is a doodle of a bear. Look out, Ike! Big brother Kyle is going to eat you! Rawr!”
Kyle also curled his fingers like claws and tickled Ike. The toddler shrieked in high-pitched giggles as he kicked his feet.

A voice piped in from the front seat.

" Be careful back there!” Their mother called out. “ He could have fallen out and he could have died!"

Ike stared at his mother, then to Kyle, before his eyes started to water and his lower lip trembled.

Kyle huffed. She always ruined the moment with something….

“  Woah, jeez mom. We're being careful! And plus, he's strapped in his seat. I'm just being silly…”

Sheila huffed at Kyle. “ You know those seatbelts still need fixed! I told you to be careful with them until your father does something about it!”
“ Well, don’t worry, Mom…” Kyle said, even if he was basically asking her to stop breathing.

“ He’s fine, right, Ike?”
As water filled his eyes, Ike nodded.

As she bitched, Ike turned to Kyle and pointed to their mother. He made a quiet “ Mama. Rawr!”

Kyle hit his glove against his mouth with a soft thud, trying not to laugh out loud.

The car made a demanding screech, both boys knowing what to do before their mother screeched “ Alright, get out! We got one more errand to run!”
Ike looked at Kyle again and made one more quiet bear sound.

Kyle found himself glaring up at the ceiling most of the time. He rolled his head up to the ceiling. But he dared not let out a groan. He might get in trouble with his mother again.
It was like this woman was always stalking him, like a bear stalking its deer, waiting for Kyle to slip up.

Not that Kyle even ever slipped up.

Kyle found himself bumping into his realization to the outside world.

Literally.

Tweek screeched in shock that Kyle existed in his presence.

Kyle threw his hands up. “ WOAH WOAH WOAH! Hey, are you okay?”
Tweek stared with twitching intensity. “ ACK! Why are you upset?”

Kyle groaned. “ My mom...”

Tweek tilted his head. “ NGH-what’s wrong with her?”

Kyle sighed, rolling his eyes. “ You know how she is…”

Kyle was just tired of her...everything…

Kyle looked down with a huff. “ I just wish I could change her…”

“ Oh, you do now? I can help with that~”
Kyle looked up to see Mrs. Tweak smile, like the upcurved mouth of a serpent.

Kyle found himself nodding. “ Yeah. Well, I would at least want her to not worry about everything. Just a nice normal chill mom for once…”

Mrs. Tweak smiled and glared through her dark eyes, like dusk playing with Kyle with its flickering lights and will-o-wisps.

Kyle looked behind her to see Tweek behind his mom. Kyle couldn’t tell if he was shaking his head no, as a silent warning, or if he was doing that weird twitching thing he does.
Mrs. Tweak, with no warning, walked away, dragging her son with her. Kyle did not know whether to stay or go.

She walked back with a cup, presumably of coffee. She placed it into his gloves, the warmth slithering up his arms like snakes.

“ This will change her~”

Kyle looked up to ask a question, but she was gone.
“...the fuck?”

Shelia screeched. “ KYLE! WHERE ARE YOU?!”

Kyle raised his hands. “ I’m okay. I'm right here mom. I'm just talking to Tweek.”

“ Well, don’t run off! I was worried!”
She was always worried.

“ I’m fine, Mom. I can take care of myself…”

As Sheila kept talking, Kyle looked down at the styrofoam cup in his hands.

Change her…

“ Here mom. I brought you this coffee as an apology for arguing.”

Shelia held a hand to her chest. " Oh! Thank you, Kyle~"

That night, Kyle looked over his sketches again. They are perfect. Why change them?

He overhears Sheila telling Gerald about how "disappointing the boys were today". Kyle thinks back to Mrs. Tweak saying that she will change....

Kyle scoffed. “ By God, I hope she changes…”

Kyle threw his head into his pillow and sighed.

Sheila let out a sigh to Gerald. “ Even after all of that, I am very proud  that he still apologized…”
