My Last Message

Summary:

Lance gets thrown into deep space from a mission gone wrong, a weeks worth of voice recordings and two years later his last words finally make their way home. Langst from (mostly) Keith's POV, Keith angst as well. I love angst.

Notes:

This is my first fic! I am a senior in college recently rediscovering my old cringe phases, sooooo slow updates probably but this is really just for me atp :p

Chapter 1: My Last Message

Chapter Text

My Last Message

Lance

"Day 6"

"22:43"

"A Galran ship is approaching from the horizon. I was hoping I could hold out until my oxygen ran out, but it looks like that will not be the case. This will be my final voice log. I cannot let them take me alive for the sake of the rebellion." I think back to everything Shiro went through, but silently dismiss the fact that this final act will no doubt be for me too. "If these messages find their way home." I take a long pause. I don't want to say goodbye because not only will it end these silly recordings (maybe not so silly in hindsight), but it will be the end of me as well. I look around and see the Galran ship approaching. I'm not sure if they've spotted me, but even if they haven't, they are on course to go directly over me. I take my last breath, "Goodbye." I quickly peel off my helmet, and immediately, all of the air is sucked out of my lungs. It's hot, too hot, but I must endure for a little longer. With my last remaining bit of strength, I launch my helmet into deep space. If my body never makes its way home, maybe my words will. My entire body is on fire, despite how cold it is in space, and I can't breathe. I am in complete agony, and I feel myself beginning to black out. Suddenly, I feel the waves crashing over me, and as the water licks at my skin, it takes away my pain. The sand beneath me, sticking to my skin. I lay here in the water looking up at the sky. I look to my left, and I see everyone watching me die. All I can focus on is Keith, standing there emotionless, gray eyes boring holes into mine. I hope my words reach him. They probably never will.
