Chapter Text
It was late at night
Dorothy and James, wife and husband, had just come home from a friend's house
She put a saucepan on the stove to heat some water for tea
Meanwhile her husband went to the bathroom to change
She called her girl "best friend"
They were talking when, suddenly, two people burst out the bedroom
They had a bag full of things and no masks on, they thought no one would come home
One approached her
She dropped the phone and grabbed the saucepan and threw the hot water at the robber
She then smacked him on the head with it and he fell to the ground
But.. When she looked up, she saw the other guy, he aimed a gun at her.
He pulled the trigger. The bullet met her left eye
In her last moments, she can only think about her.. "friend" while hearing her faint voice through the phone.
She wishes she could say something, ANYTHING! But nothing comes out of her mouth.
Her husband hears the loud bang from the other room and rushes out while the robber hides as fast as he can
He sees his wife on the floor, he sees the telephone. He hears a very faint worried voice coming from it
He recognizes who it is, I mean, how couldn't he? He probably sees her more than his own mother
'It's Christine, Dorothy's best friend.. i've always wondered about them, if they're.. No. That's silly.. But what if? No! This isn't the time to think about that. Get it together, James.'
He runs to her and drops beside her, he's worried, he holds her hand, hoping, begging, praying, that she's still alive
"Please wake up.." he whispers through tears, not letting go of her hand
"You're gonna be oka-" as he says it, something goes through his chest but he never lets go of her hand
In his last moments, he thinks about his.. friend. About the memories they had and could've had together
If only they didn't live in such cruel times
If only people could understand their dynamic, their bond..
They call it disgusting, a disease, a mental illness
How could it be disgusting when it feels so right..
'I hope he can stay safe'
And with that, his vision goes black
He wakes up about maybe thirty minutes later. There are cops at his house
He tries to talk to them, but it seems like they can't hear him..
He sees his.. He sees Dorothy but she seems.. Different
"What happened?"
"We're dead. I saw them take away our bodies" she says, her voice shaking with terror. It must be terrifying to see your own lifeless body..
